I love how Daenerys landing on Dragonstone was such a huge moment that it didn’t need any dialogue. Hearing the Targaryen theme mixed with Daenerys’s dragon and Essos theme was such a powerful moment. Dragonstone is one of my favorite Ramin Djawadi tracks. You can feel the might of House Targaryen and see it in the parts of the castle that we didn’t get to see with Stannis. Daenerys arriving there makes it feel like a completely different place. For her it’s a new beginning and symbolizes so much for her family so it’s sunny and beautiful but to Stannis it was like a punishment so it felt dreary and empty.
Yeah, Dragonstone was as lifeless as stannis character. A charmless Man who will killed his own daughter in the name of duty. Dragonstone belongs to Daenery Targaryen, it's her rightful home, the last true Targaryen has arrived.
I love how the music has a Middle Eastern flavor in the beginning, but as soon as she touches the sand, it switches over to a more Western sound. I think Jon and Sansa both had a point. Given the threat from the Night King and his army Jon's way is certainly better for an united North and they need everyone. They shouldn't have discussed it in front of everyone though.
AmarthwenNarmacil I think in the real world it would not have been the best decision by Jon because now the house loyal to the Starks got no reward for their loyalty. They wouldn’t side with them in the future when no matter what traitors with defeated and decimated armies got rewarded over loyal houses. I think in reality it would have put a big wedge between the northern families and specifically the only ones truly loyal to you.
AmarthwenNarmacil the problem with this is Jon decides a thing without thinking of discussion, he just does it and he ends up blindsiding other people who would have had a different voice. This has always been Jon’s problem. That’s Ned’s problem too.

@Andre, targaryens braid their hair when they win battles. Its their custom. Dothraki don’t cut their hair but let it grow out(ponytail), braids are optional for them
Viserys was the one who told Dany about the Dothraki hair, he said that when a Dothraki loses a fight they cut of their braid for the whole world to see their shame. He also pointed out how long Drogo’s hair is, since he had never lost a battle.
Season 7 is so dope! While it might not have the same layers as previous seasons, all the build up and chess playing has finally set the stage for a shit ton of action and the beginning of the final battle. I'm so looking forward to Nikki and Stevens reactions to this season!
Had to pause quick to say thank God you guys appreciated that line from Arya / Walder Frey... It's probably my favorite delivery of a single line of dialogue in the whole season. David Bradley & Maisie Williams were 100% on point with their performances. I loved the cold evil look in her eyes after she pulls the face off. And just think... David is an ? 80 year old? man who had to act as if he were a teenage girl playing a 90 year old man. And he did just excellent at it. You could tell there was something just a little off with the shit he was saying. Give the man an Emmy!!!
21:00 While that scene has tension and humor in it, it also displays a more human side of the soldiers and habitants of this world. i wish we would have seen more of it across the seasons. but maybe that was intentional. like when you are highborn, you live in your own bubble and dont even see the plebs anymore. Also this scene portrays perfectly, what the people think about Cercei. With one King dying after another, the loyalty has taken its cracks. And now a woman sits on the throne. And it also gives Arya a reflection of her own thinking. She is living on her own for so long and always around people with grey/dark morals. These humane discussions about every day life and daydreaming the future just shows how out of touch with the world around you you can become if you are always trapped in your own bubble of reality. That not every stranger is out for blood. This scene is so underrated, because people only see Ed Sheeran in this scene.
The producers said that Ed Sheeran was in this scene as a surprise birthday gift to Masie Williams on the day this scene was filmed. Masie turned 21 on that day. Masie is a huge Ed Sheeran fan girl.
I've been waiting for this cold open since s1e1 "Ever since I was a little boy, I wanted to grow up and marry the most beautiful woman in the world"....but my niece and nephew got to her first, so here I am. Because of the end of this episode, you can tell that they specifically used lighting and night scenes to make the castle Melisandre's castle specifically and dreary dungeons and rooms to show Stannis's side of the castle, not a hint of Targaryens. If you remember Mel coming into Shereen's dreary room and lighting the candles before leaving, kind of saying "we are one now". Dreary Stannis and fiery Melisandre. Arya gets a nice little lesson that not everybody on the "bad" side deserves to die. They are just on the wrong side. Except for the Freys lol
Dany’s scene in this always gives me the goosebumps and made me so emotional. She always wanted to go Home. The last time she was in Dragonstone, she lost her family. Now, she’s here. She’s finally Home ❤️🔥👸🏼 The way her theme song also shifted. when she was shown it was her themesong plus the dothraki themesong when she touched the sand, the dothraki themesong stopped signaling that a phase has already ended for her story. She’s finally in Westeros and left Essos.
24:50 Fun fact: When William the Conqueror arrived in England, he fell out of his boat and onto his hands and knees, instead of standing triumphantly. But one of his soldiers instead shouted "Look! Our King reaches to grab the land that is rightfully his!" William grabbed the sand with both hands and announced "England is ours!" To his men. I always thought this was referencing that scene - a would be Conqueror with a mighty army coming to claim the land they see as their right based on dubious legal principles.
Fun fact: Lena Headey is actually one of the nicest people in real life. Very kind to fans and does a ton for charities. Just shows how amazing of an actress she is.

I think Cersie thought Tommen had betrayed her when he hooked up with the High Sparrow and especially when he discontinued trial by combat. He would have known that she would have no way of getting out of the charges.
Tommen gave them power so that his wife didn't have to do the walk of shame similar to what his mother had done and for her part Margery manipulated Tommen by recruiting him for The High Sparrow, her atonement, she knew full well Tommen would ban trials by combat as it was Margery's plan to have Cersei face a religious trial and be found guilty, this would leave her as Queen with her younger easy to manipulate husband, while that manipulation was going on, since Tommen was proclaimed King, as his Regent Cersei has been manipulating Tommen too and installed the faith militant and The High Sparrow, While he is the Monarch Tommen has no actual power as he is still a child. Kevan Lannister as Hand of the King and Regent after both Queen Margery and Queen Cersei's arrests, was the one along with the Small Council who installed the full authority to The High Sparrow. That is way Cersei has no issue burning the Sept where Margery, Margery's Father (member of the Small Council) Her Uncle Kevan (Regent/Hand of the King) where present. Tommen outlawed Trial of Combat not because he was attempting to betray his mother, but rather in his youth as a young boy (Tommen is younger than Rickon Stark) believed his mother was pure and that the charges of incest and adultery were false, he assumed his "pure" mother stood a better chance having a trail by faith, than a trail by combat. Tommen had already witnessed his Uncle's Champion and his Mother's Champion both die in a trial by Combat and he was not going to risk his Mother's life. Again Tommen was innocent, everyone around him, His Grandfather, Mother, Wife, Great Uncle, Religious Mentor were all manipulating him. He couldn't bare to live with the fact Wild Fire was used under his reign and hundreds of lives were lost, and that it was his mother that used the very weapon his "Uncle" Jamie prevented the mad King from using. Tommen couldn't cope with the fact he lost both his wife and mother. His Wife Burnt alive in the Sept and Cersei's veil of purity was removed and Tommen got to see his mother as the monster she was and that broke him so he ended his life
@@brandoman79 It wasn't Margaerys plan to ban trial by combat. She had no idea that would happen. Her plan was for Tommen to go into the faith temporarily so the high sparrow was fooled and pleased enough so she and her brother could be freed. Loras told her "let them win" and thats what she did. She didn't care about her feud with Cersie anymore. She was focused on freeing her brother. Once freed they would find a way to get rid of the Sparrows. It is implied she even avoided Cersei when she was freed and she spent her most of her days hanging with Septa Unella to make the Sparrow believe she was converted. Trial by combat was banned after Cersie was stupid enough to order the Mountain to kill one of the sparrows. So Cersie shot herself in the foot once again and was backed into a corner by her recklessness.

My mother and boyfriend were like "who the hells that" because they didn't re-watch anything before S7, but since you guys are on a roll you notice things long time fans and watchers didn't notice.
Yeah, I didn't get that either. Sandor has always shown that he had a bit of a soft spot for the Stark girls, and he tried in his own way to protect them. Nikki and Steven have to be the first reactors that don't love the Hound this late in the game. Everyone else started to like him around the time he was teamed up with Arya.
In regards to Sansa's questioning Jon's choices and decisions, I saw it as an unpleasant necessity, she adopts the role of a naysmith, which is the opposite of a sycophant. She points out the faults in his decisions because someone must. Ser Davos did this for Stannis at times, and he was good at it.
True but he did it in the small counselor meetings. Sansa challanged him in front of everyone that followed Jon in the North where the little fingers in the world will feel bold enough to question him too.
@@lstarsabb Yes, but that too serves a purpose; First it gets the issues out in the open and reveals Jon's character to everyone (potentially good or bad, depending on the audience), second it's bait for any hot-headed detractors that would pile on after Sansa's challenges, so Jon knows what everyone is thinking. Stressful, but very clever if done right.
Despite all the death and sadness in this show, it's nice to be able to laugh every now and then because i ship Brienne and Tormund, best romance ever.
Another Novel Note: Ed Sheeran's song "Hands of Gold" was sung in A Storm of Swords by Symon Silver Tongue, a singer who entertained at the inn Tyrion had hidden Shae. He blackmails Tyrion (and by extension, Shae) with this song: "He rode through the streets of the city, Down from his hill on high. O'er the wynds and the steps and the cobbles, He rode to a woman's sigh. For she was his secret treasure, She was his shame and his bliss. And a Chain and a Keep are nothing, Compared to a woman's kiss, For Hands of Gold are always cold, but a woman's hands are warm..." Rather than pay a bribe and continue risking himself and Shae, Tyrion has Bronn make Symon disappear. Though Bronn never provides any specifics about how he killed Symon, Bronn does state there's a pot shop in Flea Bottom that's willing to serve Bowls of Brown with "all kinds of meat in it."
Sadly, they didn't put much emphasis on him in the show. I never read the books, so the few times he show up in the show, I'm like , who the fuck is this guy?
I'm scared af of him in the books! I think he could easily kill one of the main characters. And that horn dragon thingy he has, damn, can't wait to read what he does with that
What an amazing way to open up a season with that scene. Arya proving once again why she is BOSS!!!! Love your reactions and cannot wait for the next episode.
She had only one line this episode, but damn! Was so waiting for your reaction to the cold open for months, completely worth the wait. and Nikki reaction to the Sam open, just about the same, "threw up a little in my mouth" sums it up completely.
Awesome reaction its funny the relationship of Jon and Sansa parallels Jaimie and Cersei the conflict between Jon and Sansa was realistic Sansa was understandably pissed as the Umbers and Karstarks threw in with Ramsay the man who physically and psychologically terrorized her but Jon knew he had to give an Olive branch to these families mostly with the army of the dead at their doorstep he can’t afford inner squabbling between the north but because he had to show these families he was a different leader than Ramsay he is capable of being benevolent the Umbers sided with the Boltons because Jon allied with the wildlings and the Umbers have spent years fighting them so Jon is basically showing no ill-will to them he’s offering forgiveness instead of holding a grudge. Jon also is mending relations with the Karstarks as the reason they turned was because Robb beheaded their lord Jon showing mercy to them is his way of repairing the bond between their houses. Also yeah that was Ed Sheeran as the singing guy at Arya’s campfire. Don’t worry we were all nauseous at Sam’s scene the sloshing noise you couldn’t tell which went in or which came out. Keep it up can’t wait the next two really pick up the pace.
Under normal circumstances I think Sansa had a legitimate argument about giving houses to loyal families. But Jon was doing what he thought was right to keep the entire North as one unit to fight the Knight King and his army. Neither were inherently wrong, but Jon is legitimately the only one that knows what the threat of the dead truly means.

Great reaction. About the hound. He has always been kind, but he knows how to play the game. Just as honorable as Ned from his point of view. Protected the weak despite joffery. Saved Sansa, and tried to rescue both Stark girls. He and Arya are the best odd couple. 😋
17:10 I did the exact same thing when I saw this episode. I was yelling “WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG Y’ALL! FILMING THIS JUST LIKE THAT!” Glad I wasn’t eating dinner when it happened.”
Yes, that was Ed Sheeran! Maisie Williams (the actress that plays Arya) is a really big fan of him, and he's a big fan of the show, so they surprised her by having him make a cameo.
If you pay attention to the lyrics of the song Ed Sheeran was singing, there are many theories about what it might mean (and don't worry, as it is not confirmed it is just pure speculation: so no spoilers!) Many speculate that it is about Jaime and Cersei and how Cersei got the prophecy wrong (she thinks Tyrion will kill her when in fact it might very well be Jaime) Let me explain: In the books, the prophecy given to her by the wood witch states that the *valonqar* will kill her, and *valonqar* is valyrian for little brother. Jaime is her twin, but she is the oldest of the two. Many think that Hands of Gold is about her being strangled by Jaime's gold hand. *"For hands of gold are always cold, but a woman's hands are warm"* *"He rode through the streets of the city [...] He rode to a woman's sigh"* Is it about Jaime being ready to obey any of her command? *"For she was his secret treasure, she was his shame and his bliss"* Is it about their not-so-secret incestuous relationship? In the book, the song is much longer and there is a line that might be a bit confusing *"The last of Darry's ten".* We know that House Darry were overt, and later hidden(after Robert's Rebellion), Targaryen loyalists, which led to their house being destroyed and lands given to a Lannister (in the books it was Lancel), therefore they became the House *Lannister of Darry* , direct cousins of Jaime. It is a bit of a stretch but it might be a clue as to who the song is about and what fate awaits Cersei. I can't say more as it might spoil the end of the season so, bye! See you soon!
Why is it that most when most people hear the word "Valonqar" they think it refers to Cersei's brothers? It could be anyone's Valonqar. Any other little brother out there that might find it useful to get rid of Cersei at some point? This is not my theory but one I found online and very compelling. ua-cam.com/video/b4G869mUimM/v-deo.html
Yes I know, this one that I was explaining is merely the most popular because of what it could mean in the show and how it would be interesting knowing how their arc turns out by the end of season 7. I just watched the video you recommended but wow! It was sooo interesting! I have watched several about the subject but this one pushed it one step further! Thanks! :)
@@golfr-kg9ss We assume it to be one of Cersei's little brothers because that makes the most thematic sense and would provide the most satisfying conclusion to multiple characters' arcs.
2:23 YOU GUYS need to realise that "Cersei" died during the Walk of Atonement. She is now the Female Mad Queen. I think Season 7 will explain why Cersei never mourned coz even Jaime was bothered by it. The death that absolutely crushed Cersei was Marcella's.
The death of Joffrey angered Cersei, and also gave her a sense of failure...because he was the one that was going to finally give her family the throne and kingdoms....Marcella is definitely the death that crushed her...and in some ways killed her inside; which began her descent into madness. Finally, with Tommen, his death didn't bother her because, while she did everything at the time to protect him from being at the Sept...he also did nothing but apologize for what he did; so his death was nothing but a confirmation that Maggie the Frog was right all along. We can probably say that Tommen's death was the proverbial "nail in the coffin" for her.
That scene with Aria and the Lannister soldiers, and the Hound burying the father and daughter, are two of the most poignant scenes in the entire series.
*I was eating my dinner at that Sam scene* *I was eating a Margherita Pizza and some rice* *I remember because I really threw up on my pizza slices and had throw em away*

Before both Cersi and Tommen said "The faith and the crown are the two pillars that hold up this world. One collapses, so does the other."And there u have 2 pillars in the balcony, while the Sept burns in the background.....One fell, so did Tommen
Good call. I thought that was very Haneke as well.
Kinda funny how in S1 Nikki dropped an F bomb and apologized and now she’s cursing like a sailor.

That opening is easily one of my favorites. What I love about it is that Arya spares the girls as they had nothing to do with the Red Wedding.
AmarthwenNarmacil yeah but like I said I believe Jon should of sent house Glover to the wall and the wildlings to the castle.
AmarthwenNarmacil the problem with this is Jon decides a thing without thinking of discussion, he just does it and he ends up blindsiding other people who would have had a different voice. This has always been Jon’s problem. That’s Ned’s problem too.
@@terellchapman8737 If he had sent House Glover to the wall he would of had to do so with Houses Manderly and Cerwyn for they did not join the fight either, and the ramifications from that alone would huge. I don't know if the Freefolk would actually want a castle but who knows.
nzgal 30 ok good point but I think only house Glover needed to go as an example for everyone else... it’s kind of like saying next time you betray me you’ll wind up like house Glover...and as much as I don’t think the free foke wouldn’t want a castle I think they would would enjoy it... they don’t necessarily have to be dolled up but they could still enjoy eating and having parties

Do you remember what Dany said about braid hair to Viserys in 1st season? Look at her hair now! :)
Wow! Great catch. Thanks for adding more awesome.
@@Tito373737 when the Dothraki win a victory, they add a braid
@Andre, targaryens braid their hair when they win battles. Its their custom. Dothraki don’t cut their hair but let it grow out(ponytail), braids are optional for them
Viserys was the one who told Dany about the Dothraki hair, he said that when a Dothraki loses a fight they cut of their braid for the whole world to see their shame. He also pointed out how long Drogo’s hair is, since he had never lost a battle.
Season 7... shall we begin?
Leeeeeeets go!
Season 7 is so dope! While it might not have the same layers as previous seasons, all the build up and chess playing has finally set the stage for a shit ton of action and the beginning of the final battle. I'm so looking forward to Nikki and Stevens reactions to this season!
Season7 is the worst tho x)
J0NTE Its not my favorite but it has its moments.
Season 7 is definitely better than season 6 in my opinion.
He is so under-rated can't believe he didn't get one for this scene !!!!!
YES! Great comment. couldn't agree more
@@soaluc Thanks :)
The producers said that Ed Sheeran was in this scene as a surprise birthday gift to Masie Williams on the day this scene was filmed. Masie turned 21 on that day. Masie is a huge Ed Sheeran fan girl.

"Ever since I was a little boy, I wanted to grow up and marry the most beautiful woman in the world"....but my niece and nephew got to her first, so here I am.

She’s finally Home ❤️🔥👸🏼
The way her theme song also shifted. when she was shown it was her themesong plus the dothraki themesong when she touched the sand, the dothraki themesong stopped signaling that a phase has already ended for her story. She’s finally in Westeros and left Essos.
"And you know what tomorrow is..."

24:50
Fun fact:
When William the Conqueror arrived in England, he fell out of his boat and onto his hands and knees, instead of standing triumphantly.
But one of his soldiers instead shouted "Look! Our King reaches to grab the land that is rightfully his!"
William grabbed the sand with both hands and announced "England is ours!" To his men.
I always thought this was referencing that scene - a would be Conqueror with a mighty army coming to claim the land they see as their right based on dubious legal principles.
That is indeed a fun fact

I think Cersie thought Tommen had betrayed her when he hooked up with the High Sparrow and especially when he discontinued trial by combat.
He would have known that she would have no way of getting out of the charges.
Thank you!
She gave the High Sparrow power and armed his followers. Fuck her.
Yeah, also she felt Tommen betrayed her by killing himself.

Wait did you say "do you think he still wants Arya dead"?? i don't think he ever wanted that, or have i missed something??

OHHHHH BABY... HERE WE GO! THIS SEASON CRANKS UP THE VOLUME.
Another Novel Note: Ed Sheeran's song "Hands of Gold" was sung in A Storm of Swords by Symon Silver Tongue, a singer who entertained at the inn Tyrion had hidden Shae. He blackmails Tyrion (and by extension, Shae) with this song:
"He rode through the streets of the city,
Down from his hill on high.
O'er the wynds and the steps and the cobbles,
He rode to a woman's sigh.
For she was his secret treasure,
She was his shame and his bliss.
And a Chain and a Keep are nothing,
Compared to a woman's kiss,
For Hands of Gold are always cold, but a woman's hands are warm..."
Rather than pay a bribe and continue risking himself and Shae, Tyrion has Bronn make Symon disappear. Though Bronn never provides any specifics about how he killed Symon, Bronn does state there's a pot shop in Flea Bottom that's willing to serve Bowls of Brown with "all kinds of meat in it."
euron is so dark in the books like he is the best villain of the books

I'm SHAKING! You guys are ABOUT to catch up!!! Nice job guys, much love!!!!
*As Greyjoy music plays* "Who does she have left? I personally can't think of any right at this moment." hahahaha
“ Is that Ed Sherran?” 😂😂 omg I thought that too just now.
The opening scene is so good.

Great reaction. About the hound. He has always been kind, but he knows how to play the game. Just as honorable as Ned from his point of view. Protected the weak despite joffery. Saved Sansa, and tried to rescue both Stark girls. He and Arya are the best odd couple. 😋

Yes, that was Ed Sheeran! Maisie Williams (the actress that plays Arya) is a really big fan of him, and he's a big fan of the show, so they surprised her by having him make a cameo.
I believe it was for Maisie's 18th birthday (or should I say name day?) as well.
If you pay attention to the lyrics of the song Ed Sheeran was singing, there are many theories about what it might mean (and don't worry, as it is not confirmed it is just pure speculation: so no spoilers!) Many speculate that it is about Jaime and Cersei and how Cersei got the prophecy wrong (she thinks Tyrion will kill her when in fact it might very well be Jaime)
Let me explain: In the books, the prophecy given to her by the wood witch states that the *valonqar* will kill her, and *valonqar* is valyrian for little brother. Jaime is her twin, but she is the oldest of the two. Many think that Hands of Gold is about her being strangled by Jaime's gold hand.
*"For hands of gold are always cold, but a woman's hands are warm"*
*"He rode through the streets of the city [...] He rode to a woman's sigh"* Is it about Jaime being ready to obey any of her command?
*"For she was his secret treasure, she was his shame and his bliss"* Is it about their not-so-secret incestuous relationship?
In the book, the song is much longer and there is a line that might be a bit confusing *"The last of Darry's ten".*
We know that House Darry were overt, and later hidden(after Robert's Rebellion), Targaryen loyalists, which led to their house being destroyed and lands given to a Lannister (in the books it was Lancel), therefore they became the House *Lannister of Darry* , direct cousins of Jaime.
I couldn't stop laughing when Nikki kept gagging at that poop montage! 💩🤣
@Ívarr hinn Beinlausi ..... of couse!! Loras Tyrell was a Male "Queen".
