Watching The Virgin Suicides again and it brings me back to the sheer excellence that is Air. Love how Coppola features them heavily in this and Lost in Translation.
Coppola has excellent musical taste - in addition to Air, she's a huge My Bloody Valentine fan, hence the Kevin Shields tracks on Lost in Translation. Someone needs to introduce her to Stereolab and Broadcast, then she'll have the perfect quartet.

@@saidyne72716 exactly, and they never truly loved the girls in the sense they were trying to display it out to be. they liked the thoughts and ideas of the girls; they never truly wanted to know why they ended up killing themselves. they were rather sad that they couldnt get what they wanted, which was most likely sex or being able to say that they dated one of the Lisbon girls.

Am I the only one who wear any Air song and just feel,,, strange? I mean a good strange. It just brings me back. My dad use to put on Air a lot for me as a child. It just made me so relaxed. Their music makes me weirdly emotional and I’ve never known why

I remember when my dad played air while the soft afternoon sunlight gently fell through the living room curtains. There was this bird that would slowly go who,who in a very slow and relaxing way. I'd invite the neighborhood kids over to play Mario Kart Wii, with me and my brother. When it got cool we would sit on our skateboards and race down the street, side by side. Then we'd come home for a delicious dinner my mother had cooked. Then we would back out and try to attach flashlights to out skateboard so we could race in the dark! Me and my grandparents would go to the store and let me pick out a wooden model train and help me build it!
Now my days are consumed by boring schoolwork. I hardly have any social interaction and all the colour that used to be there is gone. I miss it so much, my grandparents, my childhood friends. I can never return but I can make a sorry attempt to by listening to this music.
@@juicebox9465 Honestly, I can very much empathize with that. I’ve never had a proper childhood, and now that I’m 16, responsible are just flooding in, quicker than there. Air just bring me to some place. Like, it’s beyond relaxation. My mind is just at ease. Air, and specifically this album, inspires me a lot. I’m an artist and I like to make dumb stories up in my head. Anything I listen to air I just get so many thoughts, ideas, motivation. They truly are a band that can’t be matched.
I hope you find ease, or at least some time to have a break, dude. Remember there will always be somebody there for you. Someone who loves you. Stay strong :)

I’m 14 and I watched tvs when I was 12 and I watch it every week it’s my fave!!!
Yes, me too, I could never rewatch it though, it just hit a nerve, 20 years later and until now when I still tear up remembering it. I was 17 and had been through similar upbringing and experiences with my parents and my biggest fear was being dumped by a guy with whom I'd lost my virginity before marriage as if it were the worst thing that could happen to a girl. The movie just condensed all of these feelings and fears and left me gutted. The movie and soundtrack is unforgettable, since then I've become a huge fan of Air and this song has always been one my favorites.

I count this movie among my favorites. It was so well casted, and tells a story that feels like a piece of my own life in the 70's and this music is the glue that holds it all together. The song is sad and charming at the same time. Pure magic. It takes us all back to a time, that anyone who missed it, will never understand but they can taste it. Most certainly my favorite flavor.

In The Virgin Suicides we follow the perspective of a few boys in love with girls they don't really know who commit suicide. In the movies the girls "steal glances" as you say.

It was also played during one of medium episode, concerning the daughter of procuror Devalos. It was really a sad and touching episode, explaining why his daughter ended her life so young. One of the best episode of the serie, imo.
