What a great little instrument. It sounds far bigger than its size, and just like a saxophone with shades of clarinet in it. I must get myself one of those.
I have been playing tin whislte for over 30 years and I have never seen this instrument before today. I am definitely gonna get one and learn to play it. Peace.
Aidy Madd - how are you doing? I only ask because I am a recorder player who bought one of these a few years ago but haven't ever really played it. my main issue with it is the mouthpiece - it feels unnatural/uncomfortable to me, and unlike other similar instruments (Clarineo and the Clariphone) it cannot be changed.
Nice! I just got a tin whistle a few weeks ago and a recorder today. I also bought a clarinet several months ago, but I'm waiting until I have time to document my learning progress on video before diving into it.
Nice footage. Great mind of yours came up with such a simple but great concept. Beautiful sound too. I wish i could get an original bamboo one somewhere around here. Anyhow, i very much enjoy the craftsmanship even played by others. Thanks for sharing.

Should have bought 2 after the duo demo! LOL But seriously, I love exploring ALL music, so I really can't wait for my new toy to arrive! :D

Fabulous! I have worst finger dexterity for instruments. I can draw not too bad, my writing is neat (when I try) but it took me five times longer than anyone else to learn to type. I now type very fast. I have never been able to master an instrument. Fingers must work in unison to do so - typing is essentially one finger at a time. It's not my fingers, it's my brain. This looks promising. I have a passion for jazz and would love to do more than hum along!
I have got a bamboo Xaphoon Maui in B-bemolle. Trying to get a stable noise or a sound 😁 I have to bite with my upper teeth the upper side of the mouthpiece and cover my lower teeth with my lower lip and thus press the reed, right? I am afraid to destroy the bamboo mouthpiece with my teeth 😥 I am not talking about my lower lip cut by my lower teeth 😬 Do I need so much air to make it sound?
Some people put some tape on top of the mouthpiece to keep from biting through it. And yes, it does take a lot of air... have you tried putting in a lower strength reed, like a 2 or 1 1/2 strength tenor sax reed? That can help if you've never played a reed instrument before.
@@garyfriedman2005 Yes, it is a 1/2 tenor reed. Sometimes I make a good low sound and even a scale, but in most cases high notes come out 😟 And an important question: should I SLIGHTLY or DEEPLY cover my lower teeth with my lip putting it on a reed? Thank you! 😊
@@Krisha991 2nd question: doesn't matter. The goal is to provide padding for the reed. The inside of your lip might become sore initially but that goes away over time. Hi, I have recently bought a Muai xaphoon in C and started to play it right away. After few weeks I removed the reed and saw that the interior part of the xaphoon is full of black mould. I guess this derives from the saliva, but I didn't expect it to be there after such a short time. With the plastic one you probably don't get this but the sound quality might not be as good. It would be a no-brainer for someone who comes to this as a saxophone player, of course. I have been watching "Sax Embouchure" vids this morning and trying to get something more musical out of this thing. LOL I have read some reviews on amazon and some have said a better reed was helpful as well (which I also know nothing about :)
@@LadyBGoode-gr8wm Glad I was able to help. The only other thing I can add (speaking as a person who taught himself to play this, without ANY wind instrument experience prior) is that while there is a learning curve, it is well worth the investment, as this instrument turns heads and brings considerable amounts of joy to all who hear it. Good luck!
WHAT?!!!
