Wow! What a game! Congrats to the underdog for threading her way thru the complications & throwing thunderbolt after thunderbolt until HN resigned. Bravo!
@@freefall9832 She is above Hans's level. I saw her interviews, she seems cool and an excellent player, she's below 2400 now, I think and punching above her weight. Future champ!
Congratulations to both you and Eline. What a fighting game! So cool the way she managed to "stay in the game" and keep calm under pressure and seige the chance once it was given to her.
He just couldn't find the right plan, it happens. My guess is he got into time trouble as he couldn't have been happy with his moves after white had played c4. Eline defended well and took over when given the opportunity, so kudos to her.
I don't think he overpushed but he thought that somehow he would just win eventually and lost track instead of securing his position towards a draw. It is not that he took a big risk. He just crumbled.
Well played! Rook D6 was missed (or underestimated) by Nieamnn. I didn't see it either. Niemann should have gone Rook D7. Now he went C8 and was doomed. Maybe a better player could have pulled it off with that black continuation Niemann took, but I don't understand how. Looks extremly difficult. But it may also be a bit in his style,; keep the pieces on the board and gamble for a win, instead of trading off the rooks and queens and go for an end game and a draw. Now, we got a more entertaining game!
Lovely game and excellent commentary. Where in NL are you Robert? I am trying to pick the local accent. Mijn vrou komt uit Leiden. Best wishes from NZ.
I wonder if someone noticed that after Bb1, Be4+ wins the black queen. But after ...Bxe4 Qxd6, then Rd1+ Kh2 Rh1+ Kg3 Rg1+ Kh2 Rh1+ and perpetual check cannot be avoided.
Sometimes defending passively can get you the win. Funnily enough, regardless of the result, this game perfectly illustrates the difference between men's and women's chess - aggression.
In actuality Judit Polgar… has an aggressive tactical style. Eline, also has a tactical style… the reason for what you see as passive play is that she is trying to keep as many pieces on the board as possible, even at the cost of being objectively worse, to keep winning chances. Or did you mean that women players tend to go for tactical complications and that many men end up playing for a draw?
Hans Niemann is just too inconsistent in his results, he alternates too frequently superb performances with mediocre games. Honestly, I think some are also overestimating him as a player, there are younger guys who already have a higher Elo rating than him and have achieved higher chess goals so far. A couple of names that immediately come to my mind are Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa and Dommaraju Gukesh, both +2700 and qualified for the Candidates Tournament 2024. Thank you as always Robert. 😊 Marco EarlyJaques
They are exceedingly rare here, or of really advanced age. Younger people who are Dutch monoglots are unlikely to play chess or make it through a typed sentence in flawless Dutch. I'm not a language person myself but speak English, German and French. Have sadly forgotten nearly all my Latin, Ancient Greek. Still know a tiny bit of Russian and Norwegian, too much to speak around my back at least.
There may be lots of Monoglots whose mother tongue is something like Arab, but English speaking monoglots are quite common. I know one that's been there for over a decade, has a Dutch father, but was raised internationally, only can get het groceries in English. English is just too easy perhaps, it doesn't teach language skills. There are lovely exception, I know at least 4 Brits from differnet walks of life who are near accentless in Dutch.
I keep on hoping, against knowing better for years, that people take the high way. Don´t accuse someone without evidence, it´s like putting a maga cap on your head.
Hans isn't bad for a chess player almost six feet tall, so perhaps we shouldn't laugh at him so much... does anyone know why tall people are so bad at chess? Should we develop some kind of handicap system for them so that they have any chance at all? Or should they just stick to basketball?
It's obvious to see why Carlsen is disgusted with a politicized chess! When the Queen's Gambit miniseries was out, chess commentators were pretending that it was a true story, speaking of the protagonist as if she were a real person. Computer assistance can equalize the sexes! This is what we have to look forward to from the social engineers!
Well, I guess you will have to block a lot of chess channels then, as almost everyone cover Hans Niemann games. Niemann is one of the most popular players today.
Grats to her. I love the that after a tough start she didn't go on tilt and kept her focus.
What a great talent Eline Roebers is! Thanks for going over this game. For sure we will see more of her in the future.
Wow! What a game! Congrats to the underdog for threading her way thru the complications & throwing thunderbolt after thunderbolt until HN resigned. Bravo!
She's my hero. You unplug, you suffer
So you are diminishing her victory? You imply she isn't capable of competing at this level.

Excellent, Hans gave an inch and she took a mile. You must be so happy for your student! Congratulations both. P
Great game and well presented. This game will give Robber's so much confidence
I’m so happy for her!
Great job, Eline!
The Chess ladies speak for themselves.
Lol classical Hans. Plays with 3000+ rating or like a 1500. Not suspicious at all !
So you don't think she beat a legitimate player and her victory is not worthy?
😍🔥🔥🔥🔥 proud of her
Great game and congrats to your student
Thank you,Rob
Congratulations Alina🎉🎉❤❤ , great student
Always enjoy Hans games
Funny guy, funny games
Geweldige partij!
But on the plus side, Hans' walking has improved a lot!
14:20. ..Bb1 is not met with Qb2 but with Be4+ followed by Qxd6. Common Robert!
Oh wait, Be4+ is leading to a forced perpetual.
yep, wonder why RR did not mention it , he did not spot, did not find it worthy.
No just did not see it!
Damn he’s so inconsistent, sometimes he seems to push way harder than the position requires and gets these lost positions
That's how Magnus lost his one classical against Naka, overpressed.
He just couldn't find the right plan, it happens. My guess is he got into time trouble as he couldn't have been happy with his moves after white had played c4.

Battery empty?

Great game

It was Lady’s Day in Vike ann Zee! Big congratulations to them for keeping the boys in line today 😎
Wow that ...f6 was suicidal, as so often is the case with f-pawn moves. I guess Neimann had to try something, but that got ugly fast.
He wanted to win when the position suggested a draw was more sensible.
What's her elo?

Perhaps she bamboozled him, but that's also part of the game!
@14.13, after Bb1 Can White win the Queen with Be4+? Then BxB, QxQ. What am i missing?
Lovely game and excellent commentary. Where in NL are you Robert? I am trying to pick the local accent. Mijn vrou komt uit Leiden. Best wishes from NZ.
zijn accent lijkt op dat van een typisch Nederlander.
Maar bleeft ik in Leiden geweest. jaja
Amstelven 😉
Connection lost?
eres un fenomeno. Beadman nos ha fallado
Very original comment .
Do you think she can't play at this level?
at 14:10 you say ...Bb1 runs into Qb2. I was going to say that Be4+ winning the queen looks even better but it seems to be a boomerang trap !
Yes it would be. Be4+ wins queen but then Rd1+ Kh2 Rh1+ Kg3 Rg1+ Kh2 Rh1+ and perpetual check cannot be avoided.
Hans is just not feeling it, I guess.
Not going with his gut.
The bad moves speak for themselves.
I wonder if someone noticed that after Bb1, Be4+ wins the black queen. But after ...Bxe4 Qxd6, then Rd1+ Kh2 Rh1+ Kg3 Rg1+ Kh2 Rh1+ and perpetual check cannot be avoided.
Elina and Hans wandered into the swamp.
Amazing game. Hans was better for some time, but he lost the thread. Cool conversion by Eline
Good game.

Are there no monoglots in The Netherlands - apart from those whose mother tongue is English?

hanns plays a perfect game then plays like this what can you say without getting sued
So her victory is not legitimate?
My suspicion is that King Hans was secretely looking for a Queen mate. He also reassured her that he had never cheated (OTB).
💯💯💯
Losing chess to girls speaks for itself. It says that women can play chess too and very well! (just ask Firouzja).
Nice
What happened, did Hans lose connection with the outside source feeding him Stockfish moves?
The chess speaks for itself! 😉

hes trying to impress her 🎉 lame though

Fisher would have won without a knight. Beadman loses. Our superhero is letting us down
Both sides were cheating or white played their best match of all time
Always happy to see the cheater Niemann lose.

I'm only visiting to tell you I'm not a fan of Hanz Niemann, channel blocked
Why announce it? Who do you think cares? Don't go away mad.....just go away😘
Check those mushrooms you bought at the supermarket. If their purple then you definitely are warped.
Why should anyone care who you're a fan of ?
Well, I guess you will have to block a lot of chess channels then, as almost everyone cover Hans Niemann games. Niemann is one of the most popular players today.
Chess speaks for itself
It appears he has stopped cheating now, no way he'd have lost to the bottom seed if he still was
