Coming from never knowing Jesus and his love to knowing his way and to fall back to be re newed and truly loved by him is more powerful than any one person can explain but wow did Lacey Sturm #lovehopefaithrepent
Lacey Sturm was the soul reason I fell in love with Flyleaf, it's not the same without her, but she brings a fresh fire to our ears again, and I'm so happy to listen to her sing again.
This album is just pure perfection. I mean music and lyrics. I could listen to it all the time. And this song has got really great power. Especially when combined with Vanity. Stunning! Greetings from Poland, Lacey :)
This song sums up what a Christian life feels like when you're trying to find your way. We struggle with who we are because the world worships a different set of ideals than we do. Where the world glorifies sex, money, power, and wealth, we choose to resist all of that because it corrupts us. Christianity is the human separating themselves from the world, and growing closer to the One that calls us. This is the path we walk, defiant of the world.
Jesus loves the outcasts. He hung out with sinners, tax collectors and touched the unclean. Jesus himself was outcast by the religious leaders of his day. He loved the unlovable and had compassion for the weak. All this knowing he would be killed for our sins. He came not to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved. He called us to be like him. So yes Christians are very much outcasts, although there are many who have missed this and try to condemn the very people that he calls us too love.
And that's why a lot of people hate Christians because some Christian, who probably meant well, slapped em upside the face with the Word of God, thinking that they were helping the person. I don't know about you or anyone else but how many times were you convinced by someone who yelled at you? I know I tend to dig in when someone gets like that with me. Its a natural reaction. Not many people take the time to breath into someone's life with the Word of God, to get down in the dirt with them so to speak and throw an understanding and compassionate arm around them, but instead use the Bible as a club. I think more Christians should read and meditate on Acts 17:23 where Paul spoke with the Athenians. He was kind and considerate, didn't immediately jump to conclusions but instead walked around the city and observed the people, all their idols, and how they worshiped and then addressed them in a respectable and dignified manner. I think Christians forget that our job is to proclaim the Gospel, not try to MAKE or FORCE people to believe. God is the only one who can change a person. He wanted to include us in His work...His work--not ours. God uses us to deliver the message, He does all the work. People tend to think THEY have to convince people and that's where I think much conflict arises. Well said Agile Relic. We are called to love others, recognizing that God's intervention in our lives was the only thing that saved us and that we were once lost ourselves. That thought alone should humble us all and cause us to have a bit more compassion and understanding for others...and patience.
Arcile The world worships a different set of ideals? Defiant of the world? Christianity is the most-practiced religion, in the world, and has been for quite some time. You choose to resist all of that? Is that why churches take in billions of dollars, every year, and pay no taxes on that money, AND continue to always demand more? Is that why there are pastors that make obscene amounts of money, while those with jobs that actually help society make shit? While it may make you feel better to believe you're walking a different path, it's one that billions have walked, before you. Religion is one of the few things that, for whatever reason, has remained immune to most criticism, and questioning, throughout history. People can do just about anything, if they claim it is in the name of their precious religion. You're not an outcast, walking some less-traveled path. It's easy to believe in an invisible being, called god, that is in charge of everything that happens. It's the path of least resistance. Don't pride yourself on that.
Im going through a divorce from an unfaithful wife. She would belittle and verbally torture me. I've never heard a song speak to me like this. Ive been having it on repeat. I can't believe this is the same Lacy from Flyleaf that I listened to years ago in college.
Love this album. I can't believe it's been six years since it's release. This is one of my favorite songs on Life Screams. When she sings it live with the Vanity intro, it always sounds amazing. Lacey is on of those artists who I can see never having a bad album and her voice just keeps getting better and better as time goes on.
🔥🔥🔥🔥 He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God. 🙌
+AbstractEnergy321 oh really, so tell me why this sing is the most purchased out of the album, and this album has been called by thousands of real music review sites as one of the best of the year. You are just hating besides being a nobody ;)
+AbstractEnergy321 do you always post 3 or more times the same hating comment so you feel better? whatever fucking A.D.D you have, you are the loser who commented on my post so lol, YOU were the crying idiot that differ from me. I just answered with facts to your negativity. Get lost xD
This, Impossible, Roxanne and Life Screams are the best on the album for me. When my new job starts up, I'm buying the CD. Fuck, I've missed her voice!
She reminds me of flyleaf and the band paramore love those bands plus I had a crush on those singers I still do though gorgeous woman with gorgeous voices
I mean, she was from Flyleaf. lol. pretty much the soul of it, especially with her voice and her lyrics. the guys were great too but sadly they weren't as successful as they were with Lacey. years after quitting and raising two of her sons, she is now in a self-titled band with her husband, Josh, on lead guitarist.
Does anyone know where you can get the radio version of the song that doesn't have the spoken intro that bleeds over from the previous track? I bought the CD which included the mp3 download, and both of them have it.
sadly, none for 'Impossible' ]: they did a music video, but it was only made for personal use. ( probably with home videos and stuff like that ). but they did do one for 'The Soldier'.
she was born again way before she started Flyleaf. Flyleaf was a Christian hard rock band she fronted and wrote lyrics for. now, she's married and has 3 boys and is still a Christian. she's even coming out with another solo-band hard rock Christian album again, which she says is out at the end of this summer (2021). this song is literally a hard rock Christian song. listen to the lyrics.
No I think it's about sexual abuse because in her official video for this song, in her channel, has a link for a website that wants to stop sexual abuse at the end of it. Idk, just watch it.
This song is clearly about over coming drug addiction lol- Not to mention Lacey has said herself she was an addict and her conversion to Catholicism to god helped her get clean It’s a bit stereotypical but im sure you have seen a few cinematic images of people that are drug attics or homeless. Its not that uncommon for being poor and an addict to go into for various reasons. Being poor or homeless they tend to squat under highways or in vaguest houses that don’t have light ergo its dark . Hard drugs can make a person seem like there are in deep sleep while the drugs are in effect hence "I can't hold my head up in this dark room anymore” "but I need another fix tonight" pretty self-explanatory IMHO but a fix is typical slang for another helping of whatever drug said person wants another helping of. Fun fact- Certain Drug are addicting but they make you feel good and sometime even see amazing things but long usage will do horrible things to your body in extreme cases kill you. The peace they give is false but attractive, beautiful, that will rot your body“the most disgusting lies are dressed in beauty that will rot" All the in between stuff is her asking god to help her
"The most disgusting lies are dressed in beauty that'll rot."
Lyrical brilliance.
The lyrics are really good on this album.
I know the song is about sex slavery and addiction but when I heard those lyrics my first thought was the War on Terror.
Going on 8 years now that I’ve first heard this song. Love it.
Her voice brings tears to my eyes... She sings from the depths of her soul. Just love her so much 🖤🖤🖤🖤
Admire..my friend love is a term used to loosely, with no depth, and often times with other implications...
Oh, my God, save my soul...
Oh, my God, You've won the coldest battle we fought...
Deliverance is mine from all this beauty that will rot...
Coming from never knowing Jesus and his love to knowing his way and to fall back to be re newed and truly loved by him is more powerful than any one person can explain but wow did Lacey Sturm #lovehopefaithrepent
Wish more people listened and liked this type of music.
it's so refreshing hearing lacey's voice again ♡
Thank god she left flyleaf plus I am proud of her for going solo way go lacey you rock girl 👍❤💗
Lacey Sturm was the soul reason I fell in love with Flyleaf, it's not the same without her, but she brings a fresh fire to our ears again, and I'm so happy to listen to her sing again.

I never really viewed the Christians as the "outcasts" before. That's an interesting way of looking at things.

That, "Here comes fresh fire," gives me goosebumps every time.
This is probably my favorite song on the album ☺️💜
Same. :)
this and I'm not laughing
she put out a video for it today on Yahoo video!
Probably my favorite too!
Definitely my favorite.
"You don't know anything about love" ("You want to know my sacrifices?)
"You're twisted and more" (You will always know my sacrifices")
"You're so full of your own lies"
I can't hold my head up in this dark room anymore
I need a lightning bolt to raise me from this grave
Here comes fresh fire
Fresh fire, fresh fire
So infatuated by the darkness and so surrounded by the light
Oh my God, save my soul
And still I want what's pure and want what's right
But I need another fix tonight
Oh my God, save my soul
Beneath her glowing eyes that call like fire to a moth
The most disgusting lies are dressed in beauty that'll rot
Oh my God, you've won the coldest battle we've fought
Deliverance is mine, from more of this beauty that'll rot
Mirror mirror on the wall, will there be glory if I fall?
Oh my God, save my soul
I need a faith that's solid as concrete, but the impact's broken both my knees
Oh my God, save my soul
Beneath her glowing eyes that call like fire to a moth
The most disgusting lies are dressed in beauty that'll rot
Oh my God, you've won the coldest battle we've fought
Deliverance is mine, from more of this beauty that'll rot, rot
Don't wanna rot
I can't hold my head up in this dark room anymore
I need a lightning bolt to raise me from this grave
Here comes fresh fire
Breathtaking blinding truth, freedom I never knew
Oh my God, you've won the coldest battle we've fought
Deliverance is mine, from more of this beauty that'll rot

What happened to her? Last I saw she was a born again Christian on a Billy Graham special.
Nothing's changed. She's still a Christian
