Greg forgot to add that both Bobby and Bunny wrote "Friend in the Sky". I'm glad Greg got honest about using drugs bc it wasn't all Bobby's fault. Thank You Greg! What a nice interview Funknstuff! Thanks!
No one ever talks, "Go'on Doin What You Feel!" Not even in Gregs' book! I love that song. So, EWF-ish! Now, I hear Tom Tom Xlub Horns. Go figure! Thank you!
No they all were Switch. It was chemistry. They all wrote collectively together. Some songs written by Jermaine and Hazel Jackson. Bobby was an amazing talent but it was their chemistry. I heard his solo album. It wasn't as good as the songs he did with Switch. So I'm not going the say Bobby was the group. Switch was the group.
Bobby DeBarge was a talent unlike most we get to see in our lifetimes. No denying that. But, it was all the elements of every musician in the band coming together that made Switch so special. Frankly, Bobby DeBarge would have been, and still would be, hard pressed to find a band to utilise and accentuate his talent any better than Switch did.
Its the truth that people cant accept. Of course Switch was a group of talented musicians and singers but Bobby was the VOICE! Yes, he was arrogant but they needed him. Its so unfortunate that their group wasn't around for longer and that Bobby and Tommy's lives went downhill. They had so much to give musically, not just to Switch but to the industry and world.
I sure would love to know who came up with that Muhammad Ali Right-Left-Right slap upside the head at the beginning of Somebody’s Watching You. Talk about in your face!
Doesn't sound bitter to me. Sounds like he learned some life lessons. Sounds like he went through a lot and came out on top. He sounds happy and doing well.
I hear it too. I think he was hurt by Bobby's actions. Also, Bobby had that special something. I am sure there was some jealousy. They all with the exception of Phillip had issues with drugs. Bobby was talented but was a mess. Greg was a mess as well. He made a statement about Bobby's drug problem on TV One, and slightly here; but he had the SAME problem too. He keeps using I... I... I...That is why I feel he had some resentment towards Bobby. It is so sad that great talent like these men, could not keep it together. Barry Gordy was a pimp that USED everyone. For Berry, he just wanted Bobby because he was light and nearly white. He felt he could promote a talented light complexion black.
Bobby was SWITCH SOUND period. His ego was his downfall and the drugs were all his biggest fall.if he wouldve been straight on his album it couldve been better.I still loved the album but im sure bobby realized too late all the time he wasted on bullshit and now hes dying was a hard pill to swallow.rip bobby D!Even after Bobby left switch was dead.
After dealing w/all that B.S., I'd be tired as hell, too. Put your Heart & Soul into this project and have it ALL fall apart over EGO and substance abuse? Yeah, I'd be tired, angry, frustrated, disillusioned and DONE!
Love You Greg !! Thank you for having brought together one of the most talented groups to ever grace this 🌍.

Switch was a group not one man.

Thank you for this interview! I LOVE Switch and I’m grateful for so much insight.
I understand your struggle, but “I”, “I”, “I”, you sound bitter!
