Poodle Toy
The poodle is a canine breed that during the XV century was considered as an exclusive pet for aristocrats and nobles. There are several different theories about its origins, one of them says that it comes from Germany and came to France during the revolutionary wars; from there the breed traveled to Spain, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. The fact is that the Poodle has proven to be one of the most intelligent breeds, becoming in one of the most popular dogs in the world.

Taste lies in variety and the Poodle come in three different sizes, toy, miniature and standard. The Toy Poodle can measure up to 11 inches high and weigh 4 to 8 punds. The AKC recognizes ten colors of hair in Poodles: apricot, black, blue, brown, cream, gray, red, silver, silver beige, coffee with milk, white and combinations of these colors.

Hip dysplasia, various eye disorders such as cataracts, glaucoma, progressive atrophy, allergies, also hormonal, digestive and congenital problems, are some of the most frequent diseases.

I grew up with a standard poodle, and she was the smartest, most gentle dog I've ever met. She grew up in a house with seven kids, four were born (including me) after she came to live with us. You'll never have a more gentle, sweet intelligent dog than a poodle! I'm looking into adopting a miniature poodle now that I'm moving into a small apartment, as I miss her gentle demeanor and loving soul.

I have a standard and a toy. Both are such joys, except the toy is kinda barky and the standard barks only when necessary, for eg. when there's a stranger at the gate. But both are such darlings in their own way. 😍

I have been lucky enough in my life to have standard, miniature and toy poodles. All of them were wonderful. I have a red toy now and she is a perfect companion.

Your dog will start to pick up language in a few months. Between one to three years of age these dogs very very commonly start to learn language on their own and begin to spontaneously understand what’s being said to it without training. I’ve seen this happen over and over. It happens with other dogs to a lesser degree but this trait is very common with poodles. They pick up words and phrases that are meaningful to them over time starting after about 1 or 11/2. I’ve been surprised any number of times at the sudden recognition that our poodle would display without training.

So I have a 8 week old toy poodle (Ace) and I am getting a girl toy poodle (Maybe Penny)
I have had toy poodles all my life. Friends have scoffed at them like they a dainty, weak, girly type dogs. I believe they would fight a bear without a bit of fear and are smart enough to win. We had a white male poodle my aunt gave us that showed up as a stray. I would chase the family kids playing but when a female child screamed when playing. My very own toy poodle would jump up trying to bite me in the face defending the child. He became unhinged in defense of young girls. My wife and I figured he must have belonged to a little girl when he was a puppy. We even suspected that's why he was dumped because of the way he became so defensive of little girls. He probably had bitten someone's parents in defense of his child. We had him for 20 years before he past away and he was full grown when we took him in. He was my one of my best friends
