    You are just so reliable. I end up searching videos for a project and then watch like 20 videos then I watch yours and you answer all the questions. Very proud of you. Thanks for all the content and great tips

    Something definitely clicked from your old videos, it's clear you put a lot of work into it all. Hard to put a finger on why it's more fun to watch the new stuff, but your old stuff is still super informative.

    Great idea, thanks for sharing. Now that it's been several years, are you happpy with the spacing between the holes and can you share that with us?

    Thanks Stumpy for the tips about the shop vac. I don't have a filtration system yet but love the idea! Anything that will cut down on all that dust in a simple design is for me!

    Yup, I will be building one of these for my workshop! Great idea, having t-tracks in the design. Thank You Stumpy and Crew!

    Great idea Stumpy. If you made the top out of two layers of 3/4" plywood that would overcome the problem of supporting the T track. Do you find that the T tracks get clogged with sawdust? Could that be overcome by inserting hardwood strips into them?

    Looks great, but how does it work when sanding parts. I literally was watching this video while I was waiting elsewhere for the dust to clear from sanding a bunch of wood parts. 😅

    Have you considered a 1" piece of plywood reinforcement strip under the middle T-track (referenced at 3:33 in the video) to give the middle T-Track the ability to be used for clamping like the outside T-Track.

    I like the presentation style - mixing the design considerations with actual construction - but it was disappointingly short! I was just getting into it, when it ended.
    I want more Stumpy!!

    You could put a side entry for shopvac and closed with a blast gate. That way if you want to use it away from work station you still have access to dust sucking. (Placing in flat surface will block bottom orifice).

  • @numberkruncherr

    How successful have you found the downdraft feature in practice? I'm thinking of building something like this, with a few twists of my own (I need a tabletop mini workbench and I'm asthmatic, so anything that reduces sawdust is good news).

    • @StumpyNubs
      @StumpyNubs  4 роки тому

      You need a lot of airflow from a powerful dust collector. Otherwise you are better off getting a sander that combines well with a shop vac for good dust collection at the source. But remember, this is mostly to keep the dust from covering everything in your shop. You should still wear a proper dust mask that seals fully on your face.

    • @numberkruncherr
      @numberkruncherr 4 роки тому

      @@StumpyNubs Thanks for responding.
      I've got a pretty powerful dust collector. I would always wear a dust mask anyway, and use built in collection on power tools, but the more dust I can collect the better. That dust that covers everything in the shop is also dust that can be kicked up and breathed in later.
      I'd probably do the holes anyway for mounting accessories, but it sounds like it's worth putting in the extra effort to include the extraction.
      Love the channel by the way.

    For the center track, glue a strip of 1/2 or 3/4 ply that's 1/2 wider than the track on the underside of the top of the table. That will provide more room for screw purchase without interfering with the function of the table

    • @StumpyNubs
      @StumpyNubs  9 років тому

      The 2 Car Garage Shop - It's all about airflow inside the box. I wouldn't want anything under there slowing it down.

    • @leapinglemurcraftworks6426
      @leapinglemurcraftworks6426 9 років тому

      Would it really interfere that much? I'm asking because I don't know, not be a smart ass.

    • @StumpyNubs
      @StumpyNubs  9 років тому

      The 2 Car Garage Shop - I think it would on the two rows of holes nearest the t-track. But that's just my theory. It wouldn't hurt to try as long as you don't glue it on so it can be removed if needed.

    • @meanders9221
      @meanders9221 9 років тому

      Stumpy Nubs A 1/4" thk strip of hardwood with beveled edges might provide enough reinforcement without interfering with airflow unduly. Or the top could be made from 1" ply.

      Yes, I realize this is an old thread! Just use flat head machine screws with nuts and washers on the bottom.

    Great great idea Stumpy. I agree with others. Seems like no reason why I couldn't run a Mullion directly underneath the center rail.ALSO, on the base, where you created ramps, I might create them on all four sides so that I have 4 valleys going toward dust collector. I used to do Santa Fe Style Roofs. They are flat, and contrary to popular belief, it actually does rain and snow quite a bit in Santa Fe and all of Northern New Mexico where this style of house is very prominent...so water direction off those roofs is critical, and very similar to your wedge plates. We refer to them as "Crickets"Now I just need to figure out how to incorporate this into my big belt/disc sander. THAT thing makes a mess...and yet, I couldn't live without it.
    Question. Where is Ren???
    Keep it up. Subscribed to channel AND email list.

    Great project Stumpy! Question: Will the ramps work as well with the hole placed in the back of the box? Shop vac guy here.... Also, I really miss your weekly news with the Stash....will that be returning? Thanks, and keep up the quality projects and vids!

    • @StumpyNubs
      @StumpyNubs  9 років тому +2

      Omarateastwind - No, it won't make a difference. If I was doing it with a shop vac, I would put about half as many holes in the top, though. ... we're actually filming "Behind the Sawdust" news show today!
