Hopefully you still have this channel and see this… about how much does your prop sit in the water? I ordered the 2 blade set of 5 to play around with the sizes. But wondering if i need the cavitation plate or if just switching to the 2 blade props will help. I can get about 7mph or if i put it in some soft mud i can get 13mph. Havent had any issues with the kit other than (i think) cavitation. Best way i can describe it is if you throw your truck into neutral mid pull.
@@codylanning1524 thanks. Got a small crack in my boat that opened up on a tree the other day duck hunting. Figured id see if i can get a little better performance out of the motor while im fixing the boat.
Stock triple blade prop or adapter to a 2 blade? I heard the 2 blade props run smoother/less vibes and have a higher top speed. I use a 13hp Honda on a twister with the 2 blade adapter. First time out EVER will be Wednesday
This is with a prop adapter kit. This particular video I was running a 6.5” prop. I’ve Since got a 7” and can get 19.6mph at 4900 rpm. I have never ran my 3 blade prop that it came with. I changed it before I even put the kit together
@@codylanning1524 that's exactly what I did. It seemed like I could get the adapter kit a little bit cheaper if I ordered it with the original twister kit and I put it on immediately. I'm in Ohio and it's in the 20s but Wednesday is going to be 60°, so I'm finally going to get it out. I've got four different props to choose from so I'm going to start with the 8.5 and do some testing. With my 1542 boat, it's not going to be a speed demon.
@@donduck6195 wanted to update you, got bored last week and put the factory 3 blade prop on. Got 8 mph and as soon as it tried to plane out, prop would get cavitation and boat would slow back down
@@codylanning1524 Lame. Glad I ordered the adapter kit. My boat is hooked up right now. Waiting on kids to get off the bus and then heading to the river. Stage 1 Honda 13hp, 1542 tracker, 8.5" 2-blade prop, 470lb load between me and 3 boys. I'll let you know how it goes
Did you remove the governor, with the stage 1 upgrade Cody? I just ordered the prop kit up to 7". Looking forward to see how it changes performance. I'm running a 14' jon and loaded will be in the 5-550lb range. Thanks for putting the video together! James
Some. Most of what I deal with is sand. With rocks, best thing to do is to run as fast as you can. Boat is more shallow and prop only half in the water. So far, I’ve never broken a prop, however I have wore several down in the sand
@@codylanning1524 Thats a perfect all around size IMO for speed and everything else. What brand Jon boat is it and is it rivited? Do you thing that allweld is the way to go?
I have no idea on the name brand. It is a 1969 model and the title just says aluminum for make. Was my grandpas boat. It is a riveted boat but seems to be heavier gauge aluminum than what’s on the market today. If I was buying a new boat and money was no object then imo I say welded. Not going to leak unless you knock a hole in it. Mine had a few leaks and I got a air hammer and some solid rivits and replaced them. Still leaked. I brazed them in and put a thick layer of wetlander on and been leak free ever since. Highly recommend wetlander for any Jon boat that’s going to be running shallow and hitting objects
A lot stronger getting up and top speed improved. Had to go up a size on prop for 6.5 to a 7. I recently installed a 6 gallon gas tank on the front and fuel pump on the engine. With it full, me and my cooler, I can run 18-19 mph with stage one.
That is a very nice area. Thanks for taking us for a ride
Beautiful

2 blade I try to run the center nut that holds the prop on at water surface level. No cavitation plate. Surface piercing props need some air

My stock predator 212 with 14 ft v-hull does 15 with one person and about 10-12 with 2 people. I checked it with a mph app
