Man this is a very helpful video, all the other videos start it at a neutral point before picking a side. I'm doing a Paladin of Stendar playthrough and I realized this is the most befitting course of action to take due to the more reserved nature of not needlessly killing the living. This has helped a bunch since I'm roughly halfway through the imperial side on the war.

Season Unending doesn't happen if the Civil War's done. When talking to the Whiterun Jarl he simply agrees to the plan to trap a dragon, and so the Season Unending quest is never brought up.
I can confirm, the quest will not begin if the Civil War has already been completed. Although, the quest will still flash on-screen as completed when you learn the shout to call Odahviing. You also get the option to speak to Paarthurnax about luring a dragon rather than Esbern.
If you get possession of the final hold won't it just give the opposition another hold anyway due to swapping as a truce still meaning you need to take another hold before you take Windhelm/Solitude
There won't be a swap in the first phase of the negotiation under this circumstance. The only way to have Holds exchange sides is in the second phase, when the losing side starts demanding concessions. This also means it's possible to complete the negotiation without a single Hold changing sides.
What I don't get is how can you have the imperial's trust if you are fighting for the stormcloacks :o Or maybe I am completely bamboozled by what is happening. I would love to be able "side" with imperials and betray them while actually siding with the stormcloacks

You can do that by giving the jagged crown to the imperiels instead of the cloaks or vice versa!
