- Instructional video on the Medieval Fight Club technique for waxing the inside of a drinking horn.
This is often helpful to reduce any potential smell or flavour from the horn.
More details here www.fight-club...
Nice use of Ye olde Microwave, I've been doing it over a fire pit and feel stupid for never thinking of the microwave.
Well, firepits have never failed me.
Fire pit is cooler

An easier way to put wax in so that its not such an uneven coating with bumps
Pour the wax in and then straight back out, the same direction you poured it in. Do this in strips all along the inside of the horn until its coated all the way around. That way you dont get these awkward spots and bumps of wax all over the place
Nice tip! I'll try that.
What kind of liquid drinking liquids should be avoided when using a wax horn
vampyrhunterD55 Any hot or warm beverages. A waxed drinking horn should only be used when you drink cold beverages.
Aldafađir approves
No coffee of any sort, it will actually dissolve the wax.
Any chance of the wax melting in a tropical climate country ?
Possible but not likely. It'd had to be REALLY Muspellheim-level hot.
My recommendation: store your waxed horns away from intense heat and sun exposure.
Whatever drink you pour in it, better be at room temperature or cold.
Skál!
Not on this planet. Melting point of wax is a lot higher than regular extreme weather.

How much Wax would you use for a 50 cm horn and a 20cm horn?
It really depends on the volume and diameter of the horn. The pellets we sell usually are enough to use 1 or 2 for most horns. Plan to need more than you think as you can always let the leftover harden to use another time.
Thanks for your nice video , please can you tell me what kind of Band Saw Blade you use ?

Have any ideas on where I can find horns?
Nordic Nugz i know this may be a bit late on the topic, but you can get a goat horn at most pet stores. Just make sure to clean it before pouring boiling water into it.
Farms, slaughter houses, some pet stores, street markets...

We have water buffalo, big horned sheep/ram, cow (many varieties), and we hand carve custom designs. We are making 4 drinking horns at the moment. Take a look: instagram.com/ukirbali?igshid=1wc6tjbzq2ib7
