Yes,Maiden made the right choice (but it's not like Paul wanted to carry on anyway) and yes,Paul has been his own worst enemy,we all know that. But his place in Maiden's history and legacy can never be taken away and despite everything, the man deserves credit for still getting out there and doing what he does!
Agree with everything but the last part...No respect for someone who tries to live off the past that someone(Harris) else created. Oh! Here's Paul Di Anno 'as seen with Iron Maiden' 40 years ago....Please man. I'd respect him if he didn't play any Maiden stuff and stuck to his material ( he has enough good stuff) but he knows no one would bother go see him without the Maiden stuff
I watched the documentary. And it was a mix because he left and they were considering to fire him. Because it was too much to handle for him and he knew where to draw the line
What is awsome is to hear the original singer singing it! Not sombody else, for example, Bruce! If it were Bruce, believe me, I`d always be looking for Paul Dìanno!!!!
lol amen brother. I love Bruce dickenson and all the stuff he did with maiden, but there was a rawness, kinda like Bon Scott with ac/dc, it just fookin rocked
Sounds great despite the criticism. He is still up there after all these years, deserves our thanks. I remember buying Killers on vinyl and for those awesome vocals I thank you Paul D.
Paul is the original singer, his phrasing and style are the blueprint for the Maiden sound. It is great he was on the first two records, I don't think anyone could have done better on those records, not even Bruce.
That was my exact way of describing it! Paul was pure rock! Kinda like Bon Scott with AC/DC, the originals when the bands were cutting there teeth were the best. Bruce and Brian are awesome,... but they just ain't ..... them. ya know what i mean?
Yeah, watching videos is exactly the same thing as going to a real concert and actually experiencing something.. . Saw Dianno live some weeks ago and it was great. He had no voice trouble then and it was a shear joy getting to hear all those Maiden classics that Maiden themselves don't play at concerts anymore.
What's funny is he still has a damn good voice which you can hear on parts where he actually tries but in general during concerts he just doesn't try that hard and slacks off. He has a new album coming out soon and the samples sounded good..

Listen more closely to his voice, people - he has a good vibrato and holds notes when he wants to. He's just fucking around and playing it loose on half the song - he can still sing when he chooses to.
Well why wouldn’t he he got kicked out for his wreckless actions and habits and the band was nice enough to at least give him rights to what he helped start
Which is why people still like him. He did his best work with Iron Maiden though, and I think everybody agrees to that. It's the nostalgia that keeps him and us coming back to these songs. People want to hear the true Iron Maiden. He doesn't have to be good, he just has to be himself. If you want good stuff, listen to what he did 30 years ago, but if you just want metal, he's much better than any vocalist in many newer bands.
Wtf?? I don't get it. This is just pure greatness! If he is drunk? So fucking what! This is heavy metal, and he did a fucking killer job! Best albums with Iron Maiden is those with Paul Di'anno! Legend!!
Robinn Graves Fucking agree! His lyrics was himself in the future. True to his own dirty rock'n'roll spirit! My gf loves the opera singer over Di'Anno and I tell her to go fuck herself every time!
Snabel Snalbelsson The reason why he sings it this why..one drugs hurt his voice and 2 this sounds more like death doom metal..back then the main reason way they wanted to replace him was ,he sounded to punk to them..But to me he's the best..never cared about opera and now crock hunter look alike dickerson..
Paul and Bon Scott are .... the originals. Love Brian and Bruce, but man,, the early days when the bands were cutting their teeth.... these dudes were RAW ROCK and freaking amazing!
Wow, it's like he just mailed it in. IM made the right choice, they needed a better singer to reach the next level. I liked Paul at the time, but he just never had near the rang or power of Bruce Dickinson
@@DoctorSkepticus you know believe me I really love the Paula di'anno stuff with Maiden but Bruce made them a far better big and I must say, they went on to sell millions and millions of Records without him so I'm sure they made the right choice for their music careers
@@DoctorSkepticus that’s literally the stupidest thing anyone has ever said. Paul doesn’t have anywhere near the vocal talent that Bruce has therefore he’s a better singer than Bruce. Which universe do you live in where that sentiment actually makes sense?
the thuth is that his voice is Fresh as the first records Ive heard him live 2 years ago and I expected him to be laem.. but his voice was there.. unbelievable.. though he was stoned and the guy was crumbling. .. he really needs to take care of his health first.
Look bro I have always been into Maiden and especially the two albums Paul sang on, I think his voice owns most of the LP songs especially Wrathchild, remember tomorrow , Killers , sanctuary , murders in the rue morgue he sounds great on both albums. I remarked on the vid because I have observed over the years here in the UK nightclub bouncers tend to have badly heads.
@Sunchild333 Im glad to hear that he had someone like you to perform the concert for him! Nah Im just joking. Hey I just didnt think that the performance in THIS video was that good. I didnt say he sucked or anything like that and I am sure that he can still rock out, just not when they were taping this performance!
David Hujber Di Anno was a great vocalist but now he is only a pathetic ex singer frustrated by the Dickinson's success, with Paul, the Maiden were long gone....
young Paul D Anno is great, even more passionate than Bruce, but seeing this gives reason to Maiden´s choice. While he is hardly breathing there, Bruce is a sixty year old man that jumps and screams like a beast.
I always when they have a legendary singer and then the bandmates weren't even alive or in elementary school, when they were really famous... *cough cough* ozzy
To all you idiots arguing about who's better, I'll give you the answer, no one's better. Bruce might have been more successful with the band but guess what? Without Paul, the band would have never had that awesome start they had.
that comment is null and void, dickinson is self taught, the only thing that gives him an advantage over paul is his higher natural register, hes a tenor and thus can easily sing operatic vocals. However, paul is great too, love his raw style of singing(not in tis video btw) :)
@Tmilom99 Go to a concert than talk...I paid 50€ for a bad IM concert and I paid 10 for Paul. I was standing 1m away from him and he saw I know all the lyrics so he pulled me on-stage and I sang Wrathchild and Phantom of the Opera with him. I tell you...I felt sorry for going to that IM concert.
Paul is great but has made some bad choices, all of his own doing. The only thing I feel bad for him about is that he was paid out when he was fired, and no longer collects royalties
fucken awesome!!! i really miss paul, still sounds the same!!! i thought he left maiden to go into computers...nontheless he is pretty awesome artist. love killers

Those first 2 Maiden albums are in my blood...even 39ish yrs later.
They are in my rotation and still affect me the same way.

that's very true and well said!
Yup, I agree there, 100%. Paul is perfect for those first two albums.
He's the original recording singer.. He's also the reason why I got into Maiden in the first place..!!!! 🤘🏻🤙🏻👊🏻💯
He is beyond washed up in this video embarrassing to watch
Always preferred Paul Di'anno it was raw metal !!

Dickinson still has his voice all these years later. If I had heard this without knowing who it was I would have thought it was the pub singer.
Yes, it's true Paul's best days are behind him. But there's no denying those early Maiden albums with Paul were absolutely amazing.
Punk, rocker or caricatural, Paul remains a rebel living both in life and on stage.

Dmitry Owens he still sounds partially good like the old Paul did, but that would change in years to come.
Fake vibrato*
Am I the only one not digging the fast pace they covered the song at?
I hate it too. Totally ruined it.
dianno owns the first two maiden albums....
I own them as well.
I own them on spotify kinda

OKAY 2:27 part is masterclass, no matter hows the rest of his singing
Fuck, he's actually standing there with a bottle of jack.. my god
That is Awesome.
trentanni fa potevo dire che tra paul e bruce non ci fosse storia ma ora con l'abbassamento della voce di dickinson la sfida si è riaperta
heureux de voir qu il chante encore...go Paul your, the best
Rip Legend!😭🙏🏻
Amazing drums, eternal Clive! Up D'iano!
Don't see why people are hating on Bruce or Paul, they did both a great job for Iron Maiden!
He sounds awesome - still does.
Why's it so fast?
i love this song.
Bald I'anno!!! Better than the 2014 version... at least the bass player is using his hands...
he is more talking than singing :D

paul still rock,i'll be in your show next week, and i hope to see the best of him

How great it would be if he sang the number of the beast album song. Would he be able to?
Dear Paul, where is your voice? Dickinson forever...
dickinson is a poser dick.
David Hujber Di Anno was a great vocalist but now he is only a pathetic ex singer frustrated by the Dickinson's success, with Paul, the Maiden were long gone....
David Hujber i think this is more hard and heavy than much of maiden with dickinson.... rock and roll is art, and di anno is a true rocker.
Paul could front a bad ass metal band but he keeps living in the past.
Bad ass!!!🤘🏼🔥
@fierrote but the other bands that are 30 years old or mroe like Iron Maiden, Metallica, Ozzy,Slayer, Megadeth, etc can
young Paul D Anno is great, even more passionate than Bruce, but seeing this gives reason to Maiden´s choice. While he is hardly breathing there, Bruce is a sixty year old man that jumps and screams like a beast.

No, he was NOT the first. There were about 3 singers before him. Most "fans" don't seem to know that. Funny... because they are "fans."
Passing the Jack was such a cool move!
Epic song
Where is Paul!!!!? :O
Strongly agree! Don's voice is shot.
@fatzkenz Paul Dianno's voice spoke to me in the eighties also. Only got to see Maiden with Bruce. Would have loved to see Maiden with Paul.
Is this a HS back up band?
Goonies never say die.. cool t-shirt
Excellent version !!!
He seems like a cool dude irl.
But he needs to slow down his singing. That's really my only complaint.
He was never let go by the "top brass". He quit of his own accord.
@Tmilom99 He's not too old, he's just out of shape...
Round is a shape
Wow the band are tight!!!!
This not that bad..Go watch a Dokken clip from last year....Don needs to take your advise...Paul is still delivering the goods..

Not a good singer anymore. Just scraping a living. Better than being unemployed.
Right....go back to the Iron Maiden circle jerk and listen to the washed up ham Bruce Dickenson gargle buttermilk.
if he was more in tune i would go pay to see him
he's still got it. he just can't bothered. lol
