    Great video as always!! It was super helpful to view your perspective on these questions. You should make a video on how to charge for projects, I know this can vary but a few tips would be appreciated. Another video idea would be on big questions you recommend designers to ask, with maybe your top 10 overlooked questions to ask clients. Lastly a “don’ts” video, where you go over mistakes you made as a beginner/ things we should avoid doing!

    Help full answerers to good questions.... but was so hoping to see my question pop up and get answered... again thanks for the great content...... I find myself stuck because there is no other channel like yours on UA-cam with the vibe and creative workflow that you put out....

    • @BrandonShep
      @BrandonShep  4 роки тому

      Thanks for watching, Anton! Sorry your questions weren't in the video, but I'll answer them here for you:
      1) Everything you copy and paste into Photoshop from Illustrator remains as a vector if you paste it in as a Smart Object. Sometimes I'll make logos in a raster program like Photoshop or Procreate to get a hand-drawn feel, but in a real world situation, I would take those designs back into Illustrator and vectorize them (often with the Image Trace tool). All logos should be in a vector format in the end. In very rare cases like my Anchor Arms logo, the logo will use textures that can't be vectorized, so you just have to make the logo in as high of a resolution as you can to ensure proper quality at all sizes.
      2) For your sports brand, you're going to have more brand power putting all of your products under a single brand, as long as they all fit within the "sports brand" industry. Make a brand that centers around a sports lifestyle and not just a particular product. That way you can add more products later on without having to change the brand.

    Im sorry im a bit latee. But can I have a question as well
    So, iItried making logos and Packaging as well, for my Relatives Business and my Friend's
    So my question is. HOW do you accept the clients. Imean do you have a Specific Pattern of Questions.. Like is the Budget comes first before the Details of the Project OR the Details of the Projects first so you know how to budget and get the rate you are going to give. (please give an example of conversation of you and a client)
    And also, how do you Turn down a Project? Imean yes you said if they dont match the budget. Imean how you do you know that you should not accept the Project aside of the Budget.
    Lastly, how do you say that you cant accept the project when you talked all the project's details.
    Thank you so much. It would be really helpful if you get to answer this

    Your channel is incredible and I wish this type of information was around when I graduated and pursued design seriously 4 years ago. One question I did I have though with your last answer was: How are you able to prove to them that their ROI will increase with your proposed design? I use problem solving to pitch clients but I stray away from saying ROI simply because I don't know how to easily prove that claim. Super curious because that would certainly give reason to charge higher prices.

    • @BrandonShep
      @BrandonShep  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks for watching! As for your question, I'd say there are 3 ways to do it:
      1) Base your estimate on previous jobs and the results you've achieved from those. This might be hard to do as individual businesses are so different from each other that results might vary quite wildly between them even given a similar design solution.
      2) Have your client come up with an estimate based on their data. In the case of a website for example, they usually know how many customers visit the site and sales they make in a given time frame. Set a moderate goal for improvement, i.e "Our new web design will help user experience enough to bring your conversion rates from 25% to 35%. Which will bring in X-amount of revenue". As long as the goal is small enough as to seem reasonable (which clients, who are experts in their business, should be able to determine if a goal is or isn't reasonable, based on their experience), then it should be pretty easy for everyone to see the potential value created. Sometimes, clients just don't see the value until you start talking about the numbers, and then they start to see how even slight improvements can bring big returns.
      3) When the project is focused around designing something that is hard to measure results from (i.e. it's hard to know how many customers a flyer brings into a business unless you physically ask each customer that walks in), determine the average value each customer brings to that business (i.e. every customer is worth $50), then, again, set a modest goal, i.e. "This flyer should be able to bring in 20 customers, so it's worth $1000." Again, that's not something you can verify, but as long as it seems reasonable, then you should be able to make a deal with the client.
