I remember this as a sampling of the hurdy-gurdy (that's the instrument in the photo and in this song, along with bagpipes) on Microsoft Encarta 2000! Good times!
Les Brayauds, Les Thiaulins, La Chavannee, all difficult to trace and get their music, finally, the long sought after Hurdy-Gurdy from Encarta appears on youtube !! Thank you!
+Emperor Dinobot I'm on the same hunt you are! I've been looking for these tunes for almost two decades, since I was 5. The balalaika song is called 'moonshine', I can't find the original recording, but there's a pretty good rendition of it that appeared in the movie 'the grand buddapest hotel' - serach 'traditional arrangement: "moonshine" - Alexandre Desplat"
