Indeed, while the PowerLift puts very low pressure on the ground compared to other options, it still needs to be properly supported. In the case you described, the outriggers were simply doing their job and sensing that the stabilizers were not bearing enough weight because the ground below them was sinking. Adding the plates under the stabilizer feet helped spread out the load and decrease the ground pressure sufficiently, making for a suitable footing for the lift. While you certainly need to take extra precautions on softer ground, this demonstrates the beauty and versatility of the PowerLift to be used in many places you could not use another push-around lift, thanks to its lighter weight and its ability to be taken apart and pushed or carried into place.
Interesting concept but what happens if your battery runs out and don't have a spare. Or if the person in the basket becomes injured? Is there an emergency bring down system like on other lifts?
Great questions! We recommend always having a spare battery on hand, but each PowerLift has a manual descent crank to lower the unit manually if the drill battery dies. The PowerLift is also equipped with an emergency retraction system in the event the operator becomes disabled while in the air. We paid just under $5000 for ours. It’s been pretty useful. Took me a few months to trust the technology, but I haven’t had any problems with it.
It does cook the battery power on the drill very fast. Always bring a couple batteries.😂
