Looks good. I also used Capacitors on my garden scale trains. Only 4700uf don't matter much both will do the job.
No flickering. At the the time I did not use L.E.D.s. I used the LGB bulbs.

I would say use velcro to hold up the fish paper that has the component's on it, that's why I would do.

Your more of an expert than me. I would have had trouble putting the bulb back. LOL It came out good, Bob.

I thought I knew a lot about LEDs until I watched your video bob! Lol. You're way father down the line! 😀

if possible adding frosted plastic to the caboose windows like the ones that are used on the gateman windows might help hide the wires

Great Video Bob I used led lights that just fit into the existing bulb sockets on some of my Williams FA-1's they do not say on after power is cut but it was simple to do Ebay has the bulbs in both bayonet and screw in for about 10bucks of course they are from china but your project did come out nice Thanks for sharing

Cool. I considered those socketed LED's but I wanted to do the electronics project to enhance my skills. In my other video I used LED strips and these have a much more uniform light because there are more LED's in the same area and no hot spots like bulbs. They are easier to wire up too because they come pre-wired on strips. Just playing around for fun. Thanks for the comments on this and other videos. Enjoy!

    Hi,
mount this stuff on "perf board", which is bakalite with copper lined holes. Mount the items and solder them together. Then stand it off with some styrene tube to the roof of the caboose. bob

Yep - perfboard or veroboard would work too. Thanks!

Also, a led strip of 3 lights that are SMALL and runs on 12 volts would save some wiring of individual leds. bob

Hi Bob • Looks like a very complex project, reminds me of my Heathkit days. Like how it stays on after the power goes off. Looks good in the dark.

Ok, now for your next project you can do an interior for it, LOL
I like that circuit, I think it will work with dcc right?
    thanks for sharing, Chuck

I don't know anything about DCC/HO, but the bridge rectifier in this circuit converts the O-gauge AC track voltage to DC for the LED circuit. You shouldn't need that for HO since it is DC. Also the resistor value in this circuit was chosen to dissipate the extra heat from the 18V AC (~23-26 volt DC after bridge rect) so that would be different using DC 12v (or whatever HO uses). It would be easy to modify the part values once you know the supply specs. Thanks for watching! Bob

A very good video. Since I do HO scale as well as Lionel 027, you have given me some ideas about changing the lighting in my 027 to LED's. I've done one Lionel engine changing the incandescent bulb to LED lights. Did you incorporate a choke into the electronics? I use full wave bridge rectifiers in my HO scale coaches. I was just wondering what else is needed for AC since Lionel is 18 volts AC. How many amps is your SMD full wave bridge rectifier rated at? Mine are all rated at 1 amp and I was wondering if that is enough for the AC circuits.

Quite educational video. My project was infinitesimal in comparison. Pigtail came off and thus no light. I hate to test and miss. Thanks.

I wish I knew more about this electronics stuff to be able to tinker with it more on my HO layout.

Are you allowed to have a chip puller ? Those are for electronics people and not model railroaders.

I'm more of a computer guy than a model railroader, so I think we're good :D
