So I noticed a new trend with these arcs. They’re not officially labeled arcs, but they each build up to an announcement video for an event. Said announcement is then followed up by a, multi-day countdown, livestream, where an animation loop plays for several hours, before getting switched out for a new loop. Then when time runs out, a new video gets posted. The following Saturday, an event video gets uploaded. The big difference this time is the livestream not being horror themed, and instead being structured around planning a heist. The event is also a WOTFI, instead of a movie.
Bro took his animation to a whole other level with this video. Instead of them shuffling they actually walk realistically and instead of their heads shaking up and down when they talk their lips actually move now. 👍👍👍👍

I’m hyped; there hasn’t been a WOTFI that wasn’t part of an (official) arc since WOTFI 2019 and I appreciate fans being able to decide not just challenges (if that even happen this year), but the plot for an episode. I think this can satisfy genuine/honest fans (and maybe even grey area individuals) as I’ve seen recently that there’ve been more and more people leaving the community. I really like this layout, as I’m sure it will help this WOTFI differ from others in recent years/the modern era. This is such a refresher (though I do still enjoy the modern WOTFIs (aside from probably 2021’s)) that I’m sure should make for a truly fantastic time in the post-Genesis Arc era.
And the animation is fluid and really good here. This was a wonderful announcement and I hope that after the event, the channel doesn’t go downhill and also gives lesser-seen/focused characters time to shine. Aside from that, I hope you have fun with making this year’s WOTFI!

If this Year’s War of the Fat Italians will be as emotional as Axol’s death Two WOTFI’s back, then Mario definitely deserves a raise.
This one seems less lore oriented and more just fun shenanigans like the classic WOTFIs before the Waluigi Arc, so probably no emotional baggage to unload this time around. Even beyond that though, it's nearly impossible to top Axol's death. The stars aligned perfectly for that character's death to be as emotional as it was.

Last year’s WOTFI was epic, so I have a feeling this one is gonna be great! The animation is already spot on and the writing is perfect! SMG4 is the hallmark for indie animation at this point. It’s also very impressive that they’re using GMOD!

Who can finally get Luigi and Tari not to get scared at the Halloween Horror Nights?

Okay. Credit where it's due: you guys actually DID come up with an interesting twist on this event. After three years in a row of having it be used to cap off an arc, it's nice to see something that's a lot more standalone. Sure, it's a follow-up to the most recent episode, but it's a LOT more self-contained and doesn't feel too out of place as a result. I LOVE the idea of changing up from just challenges that ultimately don't amount to anything to a choose-your-own-adventure structure that has proper progression. Gives a nice throwback to "Mario Simulator Interactive". Also... daaaaang, do SMG3 and SMG4 look snazzy. I don't watch heist flicks, but it's a neat genre to incorporate.
I do have quite a number of issues with this, though. Following the redesigns last year, neither of 3 or 4 fit the bill of "fat Italians" anymore since they stopped being just Mario recolours, so I didn't think this particular series could even continue after that. Marty's presence does kind of rectify that, but that's still only on one side of the conflict. Speaking of which... WOW, did you guys take the piss on this one. The shadowy figure we saw near the end of the last episode didn't even REMOTELY resemble the outline of Marty. That, and now that we know Mario is taking orders from a literal cardboard cut-out who only has the vaguest hint of sentience, he's officially gone off his rocker, which isn't going to sit well with a lot of people. I thought that this would be tied to the TV adware saga we've had over the year, but knowing all of this, it seems very unlikely now (we've still got one last movie to wrap it up by the year's end). Also, I don't feel comfortable with the idea that there could potentially be a bad ending that permanently affects the series moving forward. While I said this was self-contained, that was with regards to what came before, not after. So much has been changed lately, and not all for the better.
Peach, Toadsworth, Toad, and Toadette are completely absent, now, for example. They were great to bounce jokes off of, and they could have done with some development. Instead, Peach is permanently a monster, and Toad is MIA (I _think_ he escaped, since he's been a throwaway gag at least once), Toadsworth hasn't been seen much, and I can't recall the last time we saw Toadette. To say nothing of Bowser's clan - when did we see THEM last?
I mean, I get it, K & L are probably playing VERY fast and loose with IP's, just skirting the knife edge of Nintendo's ninja swords (as there was literally a whole arc about it), but I'd much rather have them officially dismissed to the background, not written off so poorly or just dropped with no word. Something like restoring Peach's castle, and then M & L (and the rest) making occasional appearances in between their own adventures elsewhere in the Mushroom Kingdom. That way, they can focus on the OC cast (which they seem to prefer to do) and use the MK Cast as guest roles.
And I'M STILL SALTY ABOUT AXOL! A real Tasha Yar moment for K & L, but I have to give them props that his death was impactful if I'm still salty about it after all this time.

The term "orphan initialism" describes something that used to be an initialism abbreviating something but has since divorced itself from that meaning. My claim is that WOTFI is the latter, meaning that "WOTFI" just means "WOTFI" now, not "War of the Fat Italians".
Honestly, after the last few WOTFI have all been dramatic arcs and the last two arcs have also been heavy, having such a goofy ahh plot (WITH SPY THEMES YES) is honestly refreshing. This is gonna be hilarious.
Yeah, this WOTFI toned the lore down a little. But, this year's theme for the WOTFI reminds me of Mission Impossible and I dig that.

The true grasses include cereals, bamboo and the grasses of lawns (turf) and grassland. Uses for graminoids include food (as grain, sprouted grain, shoots or rhizomes), drink (beer, whisky), pasture for livestock, thatching thatch, paper, fuel, clothing, insulation, construction, sports turf, basket weaving and many others.
Many grasses are short, but some grasses, like bamboo can grow very tall. Plants from the grass family can grow in many places, even if they are very cold or very dry. Grasses are an important food for many animals, like deer, buffalo, cattle, mice, grasshoppers, caterpillars, and many other grazers. Unlike other plants, grasses grow from the bottom, so when animals eat grass they usually do not destroy the part that grows. Without grass, dirt can wash away into rivers (erosion).
Graminoids include some of the most versatile plant life-forms. They became widespread toward the end of the Cretaceous. Fossilized dinosaur dung (coprolites) have been found containing grass phytoliths (silica stones inside grass leaves). Grasses have adapted to conditions in lush rain forests, dry deserts, cold mountains and even intertidal habitats, and are now the most widespread plant type. Grass is a valuable source of food and energy for many animals.
Lawn grass is often planted on sports fields and in the area around a building. Sometimes chemicals and water is used to help lawns to grow.
People have used grasses for a long time. People eat parts of grasses. Corn, wheat, barley, oats, rice and millet are cereals, common grains whose seeds are used for food and to make alcohol such as beer.
Sugar comes from sugar cane, which is also a plant in the grass family. People have grown grasses as food for farm animals for about 4,000 years. People use bamboo to build houses, fences, furniture and other things. Grass plants can also be used as fuel, to cover roofs, and to weave baskets.
In English, the word "grass" appears in several phrases. For example:
"The grass is always greener on the other side" means "people are never happy with what they have and want something else."
"Don't let the grass grow under your feet" means "Do something".
"A snake in the grass" is about a person that will not be honest and will trick others.
Grass is sometimes used as a slang term for cannabis (also called pot, weed, or marijuana)

I'm usually not a fan of arc ending wotfi's. But this? Oh man this is amazing. Probably another thing that spikes my hopes for modern smg4 up! Seriously I love this spin on the wotfi formula. @@mysticaxolotl8215I recommend you watch WOTFI 2017 and 2019 to get an idea on how these videos go. If you want see the “lore/arc WOTFIs”, I recommend watching the Waluigi arc before watching WOTFI 2018 and the UA-cam Arc before WOTFI 2020. This will help you see the differences between the stand-alone and lore WOTFIs. 2023 will probably be more related, but not arc based. Before the 2023 one, I suggest watching each video this year with SMG3 in the thumbnail. You’ll see why
