So I got stuck in an Audi S8 for at least an hour trying to park it in the lot that was a block away because the valet company up the street was blocking off the road for their entrance to their lot. Needless to say, the police weren't happy. 3. I pulled up a customer's BMW 550i and he was super pissed when I got out. Apparently the front bumper had been driven over the concrete stopper and had busted a couple clips off the side. So we made the damage report and they looked at the ticket and the initials said RJ...which are my initials, but it wasn't my handwriting. Turned out we had another valet who parked that same car and had the same initials as me. 4. I was entrusted to drive a McLaren Mercedes SLR Roadster after another valet greedily took the key from the client. The client responded by pulled the lead valet aside and said "I don't want him driving my car...I want your most experienced valet to park it." So in the end, the lead gave me the keys and just said "Be careful"...which of course I always am.

Valet from Columbus, OH here, Funniest story from a year of working as a valet at a Mercedes dealership in a super nice mall: I broke my wrist the day before a 7 am to 6 pm shift, and showed up without telling anybody. Valet Attendant for 3 years here: These stories are hilarious because I’ve been on the valet end of many similar stories. Where I work valet is 24/7 and I work 3rd shifts on weekends. I’ve had customers hand me cocaine, give me $50 tips for smoking with them, the occasional firearm left out in someone’s car, stolen money out the valet stand, and more. I’ve never gotten in trouble for fucking up as bad as letting keys get stolen or anything but I’ve seen the dumbest coworkers. - One guy who worked at an apartment building valet used to take resident’s nice cars (Benz, Range Rover, BMW, etc.) and go take his girl on dates for 2-3 hours mid shift. Eventually he got caught and fired when a customer asked for their car and it was an hour away. - Had a guy crash his own Audi R8 close to our hotel and tried to tell the cops we did it even though he never valeted or even talked to us. - Once saw a loaded pistol and a ziploc bag of coke in a guys back seat. The customer was a 65+ old white clean business man. Tip for Potheads: If you’re gonna smoke before work do it at least 30min-1hr before hand, don’t wear your work clothes while smoking, DO NOT HOTBOX, and if a customer offers to smoke with you do it outside and make sure a coworker can park cars instead for awhile. OBVIOUSLY the safe thing is to not work at all if you are intoxicated but if you insist make sure you are very well experienced driving high. DO NOT DRINK. Alcohol impairs your motor skills and vision far more than weed and the smell can linger much longer.

I’m the kind of person who NEVER lets valet park my car. Had one blow the rear in my car doing burnouts. Alex’s stories are slowly changing my mind. Great work ethic, you need to spread it throughout your industry.
I’ve never understood how people can trust valets. People baby their cars and then they just give the keys to some 21 yo who may be working their first day on the job.
Same here, I do not get it. The only thing I can imagine as the people have money and are constantly getting a new car every couple years so they just don't care. I guess it's some kind of flex to them to not have to park their car.
Right only time me or my family used valet is when we are late to a doctor appointment and are in a rush or if it’s really cold outside and the parking is far
I've valeted a vehicle once and never again. We had our BMW down at the house in Ft Lauderdale. Drove to a Mall in Hollywood FL. Shopped/ate food for about 3 hours. Went to get the car. They "didn't know where it was" Sat around for almost an hour while they were "trying to figure it out" and started losing my shit on them. The guy rolls up in a minivan full of shopping bags (another customers vehicle) and told us to get in and he'd take us to the car. Our car was 2 parking lots over. The motor and Trans were at operating temp. Smelled like fast food. They were basically either joyriding it around while we were in the mall, or using it to drive other valet users around. Never again will I use a valet.
These valet stories are insane. Dude you are awsome for running your company and still being able to function after that kind of stress. It says alot about your character when you can deal with these problems and still have an ok outcome or attitude.
*God Bless this man!* 🙏🏽 Alex, your level of patience is something we should all wish to attain. *Masterclass with Alex Farrington: Is Patience your Virtue?*
I love Alex’s stories. I actually use to work for him. I can tell you that they are not a racist company. There was a certain individual that wasn’t the nicest person, but they are not a bad company.
@12:55 "They usually get paid off their tips only". Let me get this straight: You really hire near children to work for you and they dont get paid? I would never, ever in my life, work for "tips only". Agreed fee per hour or gtfo, no matter how old I am or how desperate I am. If I work for you, you need to pay. And tips come on top.
That's our of context. A tipped employee makes minimum wage if they don't earn enough tips for the night. Getting tips for the night reduces their earnings to like 2-3 dollars/hr. So, yes, they basically get paid off of just their tips.
I doubt you ever worked a job that involved tipping... clearly you don't understand the whole concept. I worked 6 years as a valet. LAZ parking charged the 5 star restaurant $5 for parking. Customer assumes I getting a cut and lowers their tip, or sometimes not tip at all because they think I'm pocketing that $5. If LAZ didn't give me minimum wage they could lower that $5 to $3 and then I get a bigger tip on every car and the customer would be right that I get a cut of $5. Thus netting me a higher per hour rate. I made $8/hr in California because minimum wage plus tips. If I wasn't getting minimum I would net more from tips in the scenario above. I was making $10-16/hr from tips alone on a good night. Why would I want the business to pay me more when tips are being shoved at me due to my performance? Why demand more from the company and put little performance or you could work your ass off and get tipped like crazy for it? Granted that place had me parking cars in a 20 car lot and I was doing 20-60 per night solo. So it takes skill to tetris cars in that lot and not damage property, hence why it benefited me to be great at the job or else you split your tips with another guy.
Another good valet story when I did valet at NICE hotel in Nashville. If you didn't know, NFL teams stay the night before a home game at a local hotel, its basically a lock down so they know their players are well rested. Anyways Mr QB Vince Young valet parked his new S-class with gaudy chrome wheels. One of our new valets pulled his car up to one of the "VIP" spots near the front door a few minutes before he left to make it look like we kept it there all night. Of course she brushes the curb with the pass front wheel. Maybe a 2-3" scrub on the wheel, IE wipe the dust off the low profile tire and you wouldn't notice it until you washed the car. Jason, our supervisor, who of course always yaks Vince Young's ear off every time he leaves in the morning handles this. He has the car parked in such a way to where the curb hides the damage to the wheel. Proceeds to stand in front of the wheel and starts bsing with Vince Young, gets him to laugh, gives him a $100 bill and drives off with a scraped up chrome wheel. No idea it was us lol
Alex, I enjoyed your narration, usually, when I watch enough of a video to determine it's content as nothing but 'talk', I switch it off. Yours turned out much better, so much so, I'm going over to your channel and subscribing. Thank's for sharing your stories with us, again, I enjoyed the narration and how you delivered it. BTW, I liked it when you stated you pay your guys in tips, I was an auto mechanic/technician 46 years, 35 of it in Las Vegas, Nevada, I got smart and made it a deal with whoever I worked for it would be commission only, it was 50%, the employer only paid for my uniforms. If a man can't support himself he's doing something wrong. It motivate me and the other guys too, if they were so inclined to be successful. Thank's again.
imagine only paying your valets in tips alone and expecting them to be super vigilant about parking cars while not telling them the code for the valet box.
@@DontwhipmeMassa Yes but had I left my Lexus with the valet & when I came out it was gone (even for a couple of minutes) because the owner of the valet stand was testing the people he was supposed to have vetted before he let them anywhere near my very expensive car, I gotta say, I'd be pretty angry about it. If YOU don't trust them, why are you letting them park my car? If he wants to hide in the lot like Where's Waldo or steal the car of a personal shopper he has hired for that purpose, I have no issues but my expensive car isn't a way for you to play gotcha with your employees. 12 years in the Marine Corps, 7 years as a production supervisor, greatest job ever was right after high school as a valet/bellman at Pinehurst, NC. Being a valet is the most fun! ETA: We didn’t split tips, work hard and make good money. When I joined the Marine Corps, part of my physical training prior to, was busting my a** running for cars. I convinced my boss to require all valets to back cars in when we parked them. If you could run fast you made more money because cars were easily removed from the parking spots. I made a ton of money on those events!
I can confirm everything he says is 100% true!! I used to work in valet for 15 years. The first five as a regular valet and the last 10 as a manager. I worked at two prestigious hotels and had the same things either happen to me, happen to a co-worker, or happened while I was off the clock. Some of the worst things that I saw while working was.. A valet manager messed up a $5,000.00 rim getting the car out of the garage (he was "let go" after that incident). A guest dropped off a car filled with bugs, really bad smell, or filled with trash (horder) and we had to refuse valet to that guest. My co-workers misplacing guests car keys or forgetting to return car fobs to the guest. Then we would have to mail the keys/fob to the guest on our dime. We've had guests try to sneak into our garage without paying for valet (we had gates installed a few years later, that fixed that problem). Racism was some of the worst to see from the guests! I've seen valets quit due to it, or not care about being fired or arrested, trying to fight the guest due to what they said or how they acted to one of our valets (we would have the GM talk to the guest, while we tried to calm the valet down in the back)! Also had guests think they were a big shot and Chuck they're fob at me (in a dickish way) or in the bushes and expect me to bow down to him. Nah, I'm not going to be disrespected like that! You pick it up and hand it to me like an adult. I've also in my off time swing by to check on my valets at all times of the day, even at 6am to check on them and make sure they are doing things correctly. I've caught valets leaving cars running (some times with the keys in the ignition) out front and not putting them away. Or the key fob sitting on the seat or dash when anyone could walk up and steal the car! Thankfully theft never happened! Asleep on the job or ignoring the cars coming in. I've had guests blame us for damage that doesn't make any sense either, but usually the hotel foots the bill whether we did it or not, just to make the guest happy! Also had guest give $0.50 as a joke tip and we would cuss them out as they left. And had some very generous guests give $100.00 and we would treat them like royalty (we knew they're name for future revisits, how they liked the car setup, went out of our way to get them a good table at the restaurant, give them a ride anywhere on property in our golf cart, etc..)! And the list goes on and on.. It was some of the most fun, most stressful, and kinda rewarding times of my life!! Now I'm an account manager, in charge of a few hotels.. well I was till this virus, hopefully I can go back soon! But I miss interaction with the guys and some of the nicer guests we had! Driving some cool and expensive cars. And of course the money!! At the busiest, I could make $200-600.00 a day!! At the worst, $20-40.00. Good times, good times..
I can’t imagine what he’s going through in a shift. I would be very nervous to park all the expensive vehicles without damaging them. I’ve got some crazy stories about my life as a truck driver and a van driver over the years.
It’s safer not to pursue them, you endanger more people when you try to chase them. Just try to get video footage and follow up in it with a detective.
I have a 1967 Chevy Impala that I learned to drive on in the late 70's. It's pretty banged up, but the motor, trans, brakes are tip-top and the ac blows cold all these yrs later. It's the car we take to the store, to restaurants, and anywhere it needs to get parked. I keep my nice cars home.
After seeing you on VInwiki channel again it finally hit me where I remember you from. its been probably 10 years and remember meeting you through mutual friends at some of the Atlanta's car meets. You had the silver NSX that was super clean. I enjoy hearing the stories.
I valet'd in downtown Atlanta for a couple of years. My manager and the asst. manager use to be high everyday. Once they even did coke on top of the microwave, which is literally 5ft away from the cash register but obstructed by a small wall. One of many valet nightmares that I've witnessed.

I'm actually not too surprised now that he has so many valet fails videos. You attract talent by paying for it. He isn't paying them so he's fishing at the bottom of the barrel. Ugh, I didn't love this video. Oof.

Yeah I’m not giving it back just fire me
I’m the kind of person who NEVER lets valet park my car.
Finally it’s here..... I’ve been waiting for vol. 5. of valet stories
This guy’s stories got me subscribed to VinWiki in the first place.. bring him back more often please!
Perfect timing, I have an interview for a valet job later today!
Good Luck on your interview
Good luck!
And did you get the job???
@@boterham7144 I got the job!! Hopefully start working in a couple weeks!

I've valeted a vehicle once and never again.
We had our BMW down at the house in Ft Lauderdale. Drove to a Mall in Hollywood FL. Shopped/ate food for about 3 hours.
Went to get the car. They "didn't know where it was"
Sat around for almost an hour while they were "trying to figure it out" and started losing my shit on them.
I always thought that valet will drive the car back to where we left them off? At the valet entrance
Why was my valet job never this interesting
Trust me, you do not want it to be. I rather have it quiet and peaceful ;-)
I did valet for 6 years. You don't want interesting.

Because the company Alex runs is a shit show.
I got tipped in hash once. Also, got tipped in rare Oregon truffles.
These valet stories are insane. Dude you are awsome for running your company and still being able to function after that kind of stress. It says alot about your character when you can deal with these problems and still have an ok outcome or attitude.
Love the fact he stole a mercedes from his own valet. That is so savage. I respect this man.
Honestly This guy seem like a chill person to work with.... Understanding, Relatable yet business focused and he seem to motivate his team
*God Bless this man!* 🙏🏽
Alex, your level of patience is something we should all wish to attain. *Masterclass with Alex Farrington: Is Patience your Virtue?*

Yeahhhhhhh this channel for the win for the best entertainment. I love to learn about all aspects of the car community.
I love Alex’s stories. I actually use to work for him. I can tell you that they are not a racist company. There was a certain individual that wasn’t the nicest person, but they are not a bad company.
Thank you Paul and Yes I remember you
Lol!
This is why tipping sucks. If he can afford to lose a few grand in missing keys he can afford to pay these guys a fair wage.
Yeah I stopped watching there, screw that guy.
Yah this guy is a shitty boss.
This story was literally almost bang on how my valet college career went and felt like this guy was my boss haha.
I can’t believe how humble this guy is he’s so amazing love the video guys
No idea it was us lol
i've been waiting forever for this 5th installment. you are a fantastic story teller and extremely professional my friend
Thank you, that means a lot. Please check my new channel for other crazy Valet Stories
Love these stories, and the way Alex tells them!
Alex,
I enjoyed your narration, usually, when I watch enough of a video to determine it's content as nothing but 'talk', I switch it off.
"Completely his fault, but I assume the responsibility" This man is a gift, I know about one person who would do this and I know a few people
The guy pays his employees a grand total of nothing and then complains about the work performed?
Yeah and a pretty shitty thing to go out and “test” them while they’re on the job so that you can fire them
@@btvbrndn yeah but 100k+ cars, youd spot check employees too. Youd probably pay them a living wage, but youd probably check up on em alot.
Feel me?
I bet they make damn good tips at the end of the night or they wouldn't stay

12 years in the Marine Corps, 7 years as a production supervisor, greatest job ever was right after high school as a valet/bellman at Pinehurst, NC. Being a valet is the most fun!
ETA: We didn’t split tips, work hard and make good money. When I joined the Marine Corps, part of my physical training prior to, was busting my a** running for cars. I convinced my boss to require all valets to back cars in when we parked them. If you could run fast you made more money because cars were easily removed from the parking spots. I made a ton of money on those events!
Ok that opening really hooked me in this time

These never get old!👍 Farting in someone’s car is pretty low!
Can we a tour of Alex’s garage when it’s done?
I am working on those videos now. Please subscribe to get first access to these videos.
I can’t imagine what he’s going through in a shift. I would be very nervous to park all the expensive vehicles without damaging them. I’ve got some crazy stories about my life as a truck driver and a van driver over the years.
LMAO “NO CHASE POLICY” what, I had no idea this existed
Honestly it's a better policy. Results in fewer accidents and provides greater safety to the public. Better to track them down other ways.
It’s safer not to pursue them, you endanger more people when you try to chase them. Just try to get video footage and follow up in it with a detective.

I used to work as a valet one of the most fun jobs I ever worked.
After seeing you on VInwiki channel again it finally hit me where I remember you from. its been probably 10 years and remember meeting you through mutual friends at some of the Atlanta's car meets. You had the silver NSX that was super clean. I enjoy hearing the stories.
"Someone inadvertently got into the box."
That doesn't really make sense.
Polite for stealing.
For real
I valet'd in downtown Atlanta for a couple of years. My manager and the asst. manager use to be high everyday. Once they even did coke on top of the microwave, which is literally 5ft away from the cash register but obstructed by a small wall. One of many valet nightmares that I've witnessed.
I hate to say that it happens :-(
