My late grandfather Wilson loved this song. He loved Tribal Journeys. He liked the unity that came from it and the acknowledgment of our traditional territories. He got a canoe for our family / community. Unity is hard for families and Communities at times. I remember standing with my late grandfather in Port Alberni for a memorial for the late Jerry Jack. The relationships we form in politics, and culture are so important to our people. We stand together as one for our future generations. My late grandfather was so proud of our family out on the water, I remember his smile and he would often be recording videos. He liked a paddle song I composed and it made him proud to see me and my cousins singing together. He really liked the dance where late Frank pretended to be drunk dancing, these little memories I hold dear to my heart. I can just hear late Franks voice speaking his language and when he spoke with love for traditional ways.
So powerful and very sacred. What an honor to be on many journeys with him and share songs and dances together. He blessed our shores and our village many times with his knowledge and presence. The Quileute people are honored and forever endebted to him and his family for all that he has done. He lifted the hearts of many. Waatch aleet sha shosta from the Quileute people. ❤❤❤
I love that this video exsists - What a loss to our canoe families near and far. I am so grateful to have been able to meet YEKAWID. ❤ it will forever be a loss.
Very beautiful and powerful. I would love to go to one of the Potlatches. I love how so many of the people there support each other and participate in these ceremonies.
Wow so amazing! What a great man he was! I met him the first year I went on the journeys back in 06' our whole crew was lucky enough to paddle in his beautiful canoe, It was an honor to know him.
