Ran into old Babe Winkleman on OtterTail lake sitting on a bucket pulling up tons of giant sunfish two seasons ago. If you are ever up here again I do private guiding on just about every lake In a 64 mile radius of Fergus Falls. I specialize in panfish, walleye, northern and white fish.
Excited too watch season 2! I'd love to invite you guys to a secret lake under 20 acres in size and only has crappie, perch, and bluegill. Gets up to 40 feet deep.
I am moving back to Minnesota before next winter and absolutely can not wait to get back into crappie fishing!! These videos help me live vicariously through you guys until then. All the gear and stuff used now is definitely different than when I left the state. I still have my lead jigs, FL-8 SE and wheel house waiting for me though!!

I have quite a few colors of tear drop jig heads, tiny rubber jugs, some spoons. This year will be my first go at them on the ice for crappies. I’ve caught them in the summer but never threw the ice.
We’ve got a ton of recommendations for different situations in Season 1 of this series and now into Season 2 so if you go watch you’ll see a lot. But the best starting jig for crappies will be a Clam Drop-Kick or Drop XL jig with Maki Mino or Maki Maki plastics.
The answer is kind of both haha. Vexilar has a few rod holders that come with it, so you can attach those, then we also have the Vexilar Glow Ring which doubles as a rod holder. So there's some additional accessories you can get, and there's some that it comes with.
