Wouldn't the stunt doubles of the Dragon Ball Z cast be even STRONGER than their counter parts? I mean stunt doubles are used to do scenes that the actors themselves cannot do.
"NAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIL!" "Yes Lord Guru?" "I need my own bootleg figure. You have one" "It's actually a bootleg trading card, Sir" "I need one of those, too"
These bootlegs are actually based on official figures from a Japanese company called Yutaka. The originals had more articulation like knee and elbow joints, but you can tell with these bootlegs that they got rid of them. Hope this helps!
I would be so interested in seeing the behind the scenes about the bootleg toy market... the hows and whys these people set up shops that seem to disappear, or produce the most random items you could imagine. Be highly intriguing. Just how profitable could this be process be? it's just mind boggling.
I think I commented a year or so ago when you posted this, but these are bootlegs of Yutaka figures from 1991-1992... which were designed in Japan and produced in Korea. So there are several bootlegs from Yutaka's line made in Korea since they had the factory molds. However, even the official versions were pretty rough... and I love them.
The card that Phelous identified as depicted Nail looks like one of the nameless Namekian warriors from either the Namek, Frieza Saga, or that one scene in The Return of Cooler, where an unnamed Namekian tries to escape from Meta-Cooler's Cyclopian Guard Robots! I say that cause the cloth Nail wears around his neck isn't a cape like the one the Namekian is wearing on the card!
I have a sore throat, but that's not gonna stop me from enjoying another Phelous Bootleg Zones video! Thank MAHGOD it's Friday. I would have died of sadness tomorrow...
That catalog is fucking hilarious, they got almost every single tokusatsu hero wrong, with Flashman becoming "Mask Eagleman", Turboranger becoming "Flashman", Spielvan becoming winspector, Winspector becomes "Super Police" and a "Flash man 5000" that I don't recognize but it's certainly not Flash King. The only one that's correct is Kamen Rider Black (well' that's Black RX but close enough I guess)
Will Goku, vegeta and piccolo find someone to watch Dragon ball evolution with them!? Or will they be forced to sit throughout with just the 3 of them!? Find out next time on Phelous Ball Z!
The money Phelous got from Patreon which he used to buy bootleg merchs are actually secretly went into funding the Blue Tie Fleet. (Bootleg version of Red Ribbon Army)
Korean Bathero is probably out there somewhere. judging by these, it'd probably give regular Bathero confidence that there's something sadder than him.
10:34 Just wanted to give you a heads up that that is actually one of the closest named items in their little booklet. It's the weaponry from the Super Sentai Series "Fiveman", the original just being "Five Blaster".
Hi, Phelous. I love how you take on rip-off toys. If you do more GoodTimes reviews, especially the Golden Films adaptation of Thumbelina, the world will appreciate your talent. Never stop doing what you love doing, Phelous.
9:47 - that keyboard actually is a bootleg of a Winnie The Pooh keyboard thingy my kids had. You played the notes and the Pooh characters popped up out of the honey pots. It was exactly the same shape and button locations, but green instead of white and all the keys had the typical yellow/purple color scheme.
10:30 It's odd that beside Batman (and of course DBZ), they'd use the actual name of a property here. I recall hearing of Winspector, but I don't remember it being as popular as Batman or DBZ (at least in France) so it's odd having the name used for knock-offs. Also, I have no idea who the Namek guy from the card is (figured it was Piccolo) and I don't recall the red guy's name, though i remember him being in the show. I'm not very familiar with DBZ TBH, I mainly know of the Cell saga and the movie where they encounter Broly.
Looking at the tape on the back of the "backdrop" and the stains on the cards I think that piece of cardboard was just meant to hold the cards in a fanned position inside the package for display.
Dario George *Korean* *Bootleg* *Vegeta:* MY BOBBLE LEVELS ARE OVER NINE... *Arsenac* *Raphael:* Uh... Nine Thousand? *KBTLG* *Vegeta:* No. Just over nine... Too bad it's Sunday. (Falls over, bleeding worse than before...) *Wabuu:* These Bootleg toys are so stupid...
That Winspector Mask Man Gun is a copy of the Maskman battery powered squirt gun. The blue "knob" on the back is where the water hose and battery cable plug into on the real one. Batteries and water tank are carried on a shoulder strap an yeah, the real one leaks like a sieve, at least mine did.
Lol, a reference to Winspector and the bootlegers even managed to get it wrong ^_^" Its an old live-action show with the police unit and its cybernetic armors/weapons/robots, full of explosions and over the top fights. It even managed to spawn a spin-off called Soulbrain, but it wasn't as good, from what I heard. XD
10:1110:33 Fiveman and Flashman are actual sentais before MMPR. 10:14 KW-7053 was the Korean ninja turtle robocop thing that was reviewed. I grew up with these thing so the blue section toys are great I would love to have them when I was a kid.
Seeing this DBZ bootleg set makes me want to watch a Dragon Ball rip-off movie/series by Dingo Pictures. If they really do make one, I hope they call it "Raccoon Balls" and they summon THE ETERNAL RACCOON, WABUU! And upon summoning him, he won't grant you wishes, but will say that you're "so stuuuuupppiiiiid..." instead.
Yeah, remember when Gohan and Krillin were first seeing Freeza and crew? They were keeping quiet because they knew they didn't stand a chance, out of no where these three Namekian warriors shown up. That card you thought might be Nail was one of the nameless three Namekian warriors.
My gawd, that Goku looks he's got weird noodle arms. Like he's gotten out of shape. And that Piccolo looks like something out of a 50's flying saucer movie.
10:02 i saw Red Flash(Flashman),Black Turbo,Turbo Robo(Turboranger),Kamen Rider Black RX,Jiban,Winspector,Spielvan,& Fiveman. but the packaging on playset is way wrong.
10:30 Winspector is one of the Japanese Metal Heroes shows, but that mask looks nothing like Winspector, and more like the helmets from Denji Sentai Megaranger/Power Rangers In Space
I remember having a rather brittle SSJ Goku back in the day...the box it came in was epic, the figure not so much. And I had a Gohan that looked a little like this as well, that I won from a fairground. The artwork was just like the real thing but without any type of 'Dragonball Z' logo on it.
I think the Chick Phone thing might be referring to a xylophone, not a telephone. Of course, they might actually think that's what a telephone looks like considering...
MY GOD these things look so cheap that I wouldn't be at all shocked if the paint used on them was either toxic or could easily wash right off the plastic XD
Thanks for cheering me up. My computer's acting up real bad and I'm going to need a repairman. Thanks for helping me feel better while having to bother with my own personal nonsense.

Or maybe they're from another dimension XD.
Energetic fan Boy 2 specifically the NEXT dimension
This Korean bootleg may be an average fighter, but it was a brilliant scientist!
and now i have to figure out the reference XD
"You idiots! These are not them. You've captured their stunt doubles!"
These bootlegs are actually based on official figures from a Japanese company called Yutaka. The originals had more articulation like knee and elbow joints, but you can tell with these bootlegs that they got rid of them. Hope this helps!
Sonicthehedgehog9908 Never heard of them till now...
I've searched it, but are they really official? They look like bootlegs themselves lol

That's racist. *ding*
Flash Man 5000 is the Turbo Robo from Turboranger. Also, the KW-7053 helmet set may be based on Jiban.
Jack Mcslay Who wants to go in with me on the Chick Phone?
The Winspector mask looks more like the helmets from Denji Sentai Megaranger/Power Rangers in Space
