AWESOME. I love the history of my team and I constantly on searching all archives for my collection. And all those highlights from old seasons are reel TREASURE. THANK YOU from France
I remember watching College football early in the 1968 year. A lot of talk was about a player from Purdue who destroyed Notre Dame that season and the season before. He was not the number one draft pick. The Eagles were the team that drafted him with the third pick. I never noticed him on the football field in 1969 or any other season. He is very easily forgotten, and a terrific trivia fact. However Brookshire mentions him here around 6:45. Leroy Keyes.
the eagles unees were the best back then ...............heard a story that tom woodeshick used to forearm parking meters..............one of my favorite all time tough runners in the nfl .........these old eagle films are so very cool .....
Didyou notice that greenhelmetshad white wings, not silver. I think that was morethanone season.Idon'tknowthat teamswore two different helmets in the same season. Also, the green jerseys were plain in someofthe video and striped in others.
8:25 Bob Hayes really hustled here to catch up with the DB who picked off the pass. Problem was by the time he did the guy had already scored. He didn't want all his effort to go for naught apparently, and may not have appreciated him showboating with the ball as well.
Eagles sure were excited to move into that new stadium in 1970 with its state of the art Astroturf. Meanwhile, a young Wendell Davis was tossing a football, dreaming of a long NFL career. Sadly, they would meet some twenty years later.
Does anyone know why they wore two different jerseys? There’s the old ones with the stripes around the shoulders and arms (look like the jets) and the plain green ones (much nice)?
The plain jerseys were made of light-weight nylon mesh, for warm-weather games, while the jerseys with the stripes were made of heavier-weight material for cooler weather. Also, in those days it was more difficult to put stripes and color outlines on mesh jerseys; that became easier during the next few years.
That was only done for 1969 the next year they had just 2 uniforms one white one green with a new look for the whole season the numbers were trimmed in black
Un-fortunately, Eagles would have to play entire 1970-1971 season in Univ., Penna.'s Franklin Field, Phila., Penna. before transplanting to former Veterans Stadium 🏟 in "Quaker City" for 1971-1972 season
@michaelleroy9281 Now l think it's ridiculous to have N.F.L. season 🏈 go under one calendar yr.-only system when it overlaps into next calendar yr./goes as late as Feb. 14, Valentine's Day as l'tst date for Super Bowl 🏈 being played on. M.L.B., Major League B'sbll's ⚾️ only one, 4 major pro sports leagues here in No. America which has one c'lndr yr.-only season
@@3243_Silver remained with the new uniforms and new green helmets from 1974 through 1984 1985 they got uniforms without all the stripes on them and the Eagles logo first appeared on the sleeves
1960s and 1970s had the coolest uniform designs ever.

Mais oui, certainment.
I agree with others here regarding these uniforms. They are fantastic.
Not flashy. Sometimes less is more
Great point. Always thought the old skool colts uniforms looked SO clean. And they were way less lol
《Thee Sweet Science》 exactly!
Love those helmets..
Tom Woodeshick taught me Handball for a Phys. Ed class in college in 1984
I did a Highlight video of him, feel free to check it out.
World B Free gave me a piggyback ride at a sixers camp. 👍🏼
Loved to watch Woodeshick play.

MAN MY EAGLES STUNK IN THE MID 1960s, EARLY 70s & MID 90s!!!
Not in 1995 in that playoff game against the Lions
With only 1 super bowl they have been irrelevant for lots of years
In the locker-room scene, one can see how nervous the players were, as if they knew they were walking into a bad situation.
RIP NORM SNEAD!

I’d like to see em wear the white helmets once a year. I kinda dig em👍🏼
They need to go back to kelly green as the primary color. This midnight green and gross black has run its course.
I agree. Kelly green and silver.
Those white helmets were the best!

@@johnjp5883Worn from 1969-73 seasons of losing green ones returned in 1974
Jackson, Hawkins, Woodeshick. Great talent.
Final game of the 1969 season was held at Kezar Stadium in San Francisco California

When you focus on the owner for 5 minutes,, in a short video, that's a tell-tale sign that you didn't have a good year..
Tom Brookshire loved the Eagles
Played on their 1960 NFL championship team so he should have

threeby8887 - thanks!
I love the white helmets with green wings
You're welcome.

One reason the Eagles were poor for so long from the 50's through the late 70's was that they had shitty owners. Leonard Tose was sorry as shit.
He had a penchant for gambling

There was no 1971 part of the 1970-1971 season for the Eagles not with a 3-10-1 record

@michaelleroy9281 Also, Eagles that season all, their games in 1970 calendar yr. only
did you see him avoid shaking #52 hand 0:11
used to be so better in the 60s
A bad team that tried hard
Wait why was he slapping but
:26 Looks OLDER than Blanda - who is he.
Floyd Peters, who later became a long time NFL defensive coach.
when did the Eagles start wearing black uniforms? I always thought black was their primary color?
In 2002 when the NFL first allowed alternate jerseys. Black became an official color in 1996.
The numbers on both of their jerseys had black outlines from 1970-73, and the pants had black-green-black side stripes from 1971-73.
That said, I don't think they listed black as an official team color in the early '70s. They also dropped silver from their color scheme from 1969-73.

Lurie changed the colors
Eagles won 4 games , they were nothing that year. A loser but someone has to make good teams look good
Improved over the 2 victories of 1968, but still not a good team.
