Today we are featuring Michigan, USA based band Eva Under Fire for the first time on Cover Nation! Stellar job to them on their straight fire 🔥🔥 cover of Journey's classic song "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)"!! If you liked this cover, go show some love and subscribe and follow Eva Under Fire at their links in the video description box :) Let us know in the comment section what you thought of it and what covers and artists you'd like to see on Cover Nation next!
They also did a great cover of "With or Without You" by U2, but their originals are awesome. Lead singer, Amanda, is a clinical psychologist and a lot of their songs have strong messages of healing and empowerment. Plus they flat-out ROCK!
@@mrsriddlemethis1 Seems all singers I like hail from Michigan!! Eve, Kid Rock, NoResolve, and best rapper ever Eminem! Great going Michigan! I'm sure I could name more but not at this moment. ✌️🤘🤘🙏
Holy Hell. I am 65, seen all the 70s bands, Neil Schoen lives in Minneapolis, my home town. From 78 to 86 , no one bestted Journey for FM rock. This cover by EVA by Fire is absolutely outstanding.
MAN!! I'm an old school dude (80's BABY!!) and rocked to Journey in the day with the best of them but these awesome kids really bring it!! I didn't think I would like this but hell, this is my 7th time watching this. DAMN GOOD!!!!🤘
It's harder now than back then to make it. My brother was in a band in the 80s that was as good or better than most rock bands out there, but it's who ya know. These guys are awesome, but like @lynnritchie said, ppl don't want to sing these bands, even tho they rock. 😕
because they don't do anything special, "hey guys have you heard that awesome cover that came out by disturbed, well we are going to sing it the same way but with a female vocal. Hey remember that Daughtry cover of Journey, well watch us do it the same way too" This is basically a Karaoke band.
You know, a lot of the time, the problem with people covering this song is that it's really, really difficult to make it "yours," especially vocally, compared to Steve Perry's original vocal tracks. But Eva does a fantastic job of not only not trying to oversell where the song is so structurally strong originally, but of accentuating her own strengths. The changes to the arrangement are also really well done, too!
Here we stand Worlds apart, hearts broken in two, two, two Sleepless nights Losing ground, I'm reachin' for you, you, you Feelin' that it's gone Could change your mind If we can't go on To survive the tide, love divides Someday, love will find you Break those chains that bind you One night will remind you How we touched and went our separate ways If he ever hurts you True love won't desert you You know I still love you Though we touched and went our separate ways Troubled times Caught between confusion and pain, pain, pain Distant eyes Promises we made were in vain, in vain, in vain If you must go, I wish you love You'll never walk alone Take care my love Miss you love Someday, love will find you Break those chains that bind you One night will remind you How we touched and went our separate ways If he ever hurts you True love won't desert you You know I still love you Though we touched and went our separate ways Oh Someday, love will find you Break those chains that bind you One night will remind you If he ever hurts you True love won't desert you You know I still love you I still love you, girl I really love you, girl And if he ever hurts you True love won't desert you No No
Damn good version with updated music. Steve Perry is an impossible act to follow and was probably one of the greatest vocalists of all time without any effects or mixing, even live. Would've loved to hear this band make it more their own, in the same vane as Godsmack did Riders of the Storm.
I’m officially impressed!!! Very well done. Journey’s version is good but I really do like the way Eva Under Fire adds a twist to it and definitely owns this song!
I was at work just the other day, listenin' to tunes from the local Radio Rock frequency and they played this. Caught me up in its jam, and I ain't sorry that happened 😁

I was a kid when this song was first released and I have to say that out of all the versions I've heard this has to be the best one they made this song their own
What I love most about this cover is it is so very respectful of the original feel of the song, it's like the original with a splash of modern rock on top. I always love a more upbeat cover of a classic with more double peddle, heavy distortion, and screaming but man, this is top tier!
Holy crap, love this cover! I've always loved this song anyways. Love the vocals and effects. Guitars are ripping, and drummers slugin it out like it's supposed to be, snare sounds great, whole kit! You all picked a winner and did a great job with it!
I am absolutely stunned by this cover. I already loved this song because it always feels a little like my dearly departed singing to me again but this, this was ethereal to hear. I got emotional 😅
I am totally blown away and a new big big fan. They outdid the original and the singer....Jesus Christ.....I love your voice!! Such power control and feeling from it.....Wow....just god damned wow!!!!
Let me preface by saying that I don't like covers. Call me a purest, whatever, I don't care. 9/10 covers never hold up to the original. But once in a blue moon, something like this comes along and I am blown away. amazing job you guys. I like to think Steve Perry would be proud.
There are purists out there who will stay faithful to the original, but you know what? I’m not that girl. 😂 Best cover of this song that I’ve heard yet! Eva Under Fire is badass! I’m here for it! 🔥🔥🔥
Better than any current version includong the current configyration of Journey itself. Arnel Pineda has no depth. He's just a cardboard copy of Steve Perry.
I would LOVE to see Eva Under Fire cover more Journey songs. Her voice and their heavier rock rendition is perfect for Journey music. Journey is perfect as is, but this is perfect too.
Class of 1980 here. This performance is Par Excellence. The band is crushing it. A seamless wall of driving rock 'n' roll energy. The vocalist ("Eva" I presume) delivers in a major way. Reminds me of early Joan Jett energy. Never quite "shattering the vocal stratosphere", in no way does that make it any less of a tour de force. Lead guitar licks were sic. Being as picky as it gets (re: classic 1970s rock), I give this a legit 9.9 out of 10. I'd be interested to see how this band handles "Barracuda" by Heart...
with cover versions, the singing often makes the songs inaudible. This voice is perfect, also the intonation is more than just fair to the original. Absolutely perfect. !!!
This is my favourite journey song and I've heard a few covers. The singer looks amazing and badass and her vocals are stunning. This is going into my playlist right now!

It's very rare for a cover to be its own and keep the groove and feel of the original. Very well done.
