Ngl I do like these longer campaigns. A-Z, and releasables give a fun challenge. But sometimes you just wanna play a game without any particularly difficult goals, and just have fun.
yup, a balance between the two is def needed. Challenges for excitement and mentally stimulating gameplay, then chill slow long campaigns for relaxation. That way you dont get burnt out OR bored, lol
Protestant HRE sounds cool af. Destroying it isn’t terribly difficult with certain strategies, but building it anew, with Luther’s reforms? Now that’s more interesting, and more roleplay-ish.
I think another classic grand campaign might be historic (but better) Castille run. Goals: 1. monopolize new world by owning all of Americas colonized by you or your subject (like Portugal), 2. stay catholic entire game (embrace the counter-reformation, take harsh stand in the council of Trent, join the Catholic League and win the religious war), 3. have fun and chill!
This is so weird, I can see this video from within the challenges playlist but it’s not appearing on your main channel page. Really enjoying the grand campaign series though so I’m excited for this campaign!
Tbh Admin is kind of a must for prussia. I get taking early mil ideas for the space marines RP, but honestly I would focus admin and replace offensive with admin ideas. The AE and advisor cost penalties will kill you for the next 50 years otherwise
Increased levies already prevents ypu from getting crownland from nobility by seizing so you could have taken Consolidated noble contracts for the core-creation cost
I am enjoying the grand campaign videos. Found your channel from your Roman Empire campaign. I have not played EU4 before and your channel has rlly ignited my interest. Just gotta save for some of the DLC, really doesnt seem worth playing without em.
Yeah it’s a pretty fun game (correct that DLC are pretty necessary though) It’s almost 90% off right now on Steam I think FYI. Otherwise, I’d recommend trying the DLC subscription for a month before putting down for all the DLC (it’s like $6/month)
This is awesome. Thanks for sharing your experience with this run. I'm currently doing essentially the same exact run with the same goals (except I also want to conquer all of the Baltic and British Isles regions) on my channel. Though, you got luckier than I did with Burgundy. In my game, they got an heir, so they stayed independent. I dismantled the HRE as soon as I flipped Protestant, so I'd like to see how it looks if you flip the HRE Protestant!
This is a surprise. I am also in the middle of my own Brandenburg campaign. Currently caught off guard by the league war. It triggered before I had a chamce to switch religion
I absolutely love playing as Brandenburg -> Prussia -> Germany, this was my first full campaign, but I didn't play good so I just finished with almost all Germany, a bit of Italy and half of Poland, it was right before I started watching your videos and definitely will play again with all the knowledge I have now thanks to you and your videos
Good holiday hawk. I really like this long campaigns. Please give us at least part 2. Related to the question you posted I would like you to explain how to dismantle the HRE but keeping it(becaming protestant Emperor) . Never understood how HRE dismantle works. It would be very informative. Ty for your time 😃
I'd really to see you do the war of the protestant league but I also understand it is far more convenient to dismantle the HRE. And I suppose at this stage you are not very concerned about small HRE guys being eaten up by surroundings big guys as you're stronger. I'm excited to see what's next. Many thanks for this campaign!
hello my man, quite happy you do this campain, this is my favorite and most done one, but i was wondering why you wouldn't do all the missions (exept the hre ones)? lot of love bro
FIRE 🔥🔥 You should do a holland to netherlands campaign. I am having so much fun in mine. I just took the decision to unite great britain. I am not playing incredibly optimally but its probably my best campaign ive ever done. Making almost 800 ducats in 1640. Almost 600 more than the ottomans. I am really enjoying the campaign!
The last time I played Bohemia, I made a mistake; starting from 1444 I was AGGRESSIVELY declaring wars on as many ally networks as I could in the HRE to convert most princes to Hussite. Then the Reformation didn't happen. Oops...
I ended up blobbing as Catholic Brandenburg for way longer than I expected. Being emperor and not having to deal with Defender of the Faith was super helpful, so I feel you.
Regarding Burgundian Succession - I found that if I'm constantly changing favors for trust to have at least 70-75 trust, Burgundy always chooses me, even if there's some stronger guys. And once as an Austria I used favors to call them in my wars and they chose Brittany, good thing that I was an emperor and could easily steal Burgundy to myself immediately via war
Something strange to me in “horse” event, that I usually release burgundy right after with holland released before fed up with all German provinces from former burgundy. This way you getting two very powerful vassals and don’t mess with gov cap. I also concentrate dev from half of burgundy provinces, move my capital and concentrate another half.
Should've taken admin early. It's not a minmax thing, you simply can't do anything with the -50% gov cap you need to mitigate that somehow. The gov cap with admin ideas are also additive to the gov cap penalty so it's technically double the effect.
i want to encourage you to play a Gotland Pirates Campaign where you switch to Norse Faith and Culture (via animist rebels) and dominate the seas. with ships that move so fast that you can travel from Europe to Indonesia in 1 Month, and where one of your Heavy Ships can sink a whole Fleet of enemies.
Form Prussia and flip back to Catholic. Amazing militarisation and Papal bonuses. I had two great Brandenburg to Prussia and Teutonic Order to Prussia campaigns doing that.
i mean once you inhert burgandy and conquer silesia, i feel like it’s quite safe to abolish the hre as you’ve blocked the two largest neighbors of it from coming in already
Don’t know what your plans are diplo points wise, but if you’ve got spare points lying around at some point, I love culture converting the Baltic region to the newish Balten culture the devs added for Riga and Livonia a few patches ago. Just a fun side goal I set for myself whenever I play Prussia to sort of rp the growing dominance of the Germans in the area as I conquer it. Will usually also turn the Polish and Silesian areas Prussian culture.
Wtf.. a prussian playthrough when I just did that the last week with a mp game with my friends?! Granted it's Brandenburg and not Teutonic Order but it still funny this came out at the same time.
Should do the Protestant HRE just because everyone goes the easier route and dissolves the HRE, which I get, but since this is for end of the year go the hard way.
I did as wel 2 days ago. Poland went absolute berserk. Couldn't take teutonic lands. Sweden declared independence, and in the peace poland got parts of teutonic. Then they got both Bohemia and hungary in a PU. They have 200k troops in the year 1500. Gods sake.
my favorite brandenburg game is extremely slow lol, conquer franconia instead of prussia and ally the teutons instead where they will form prussia and I get a pu through the event. then I conquer the coast to get the colonial focused missions, yup I go colonial brandenburg, I stay as brandenburg for a while because other than military brandenburg ideas aren't half bad especially construction cost and IA growth. I usually flip protestant annex prussia and form it for the league war but sometimes I just stay brandenburg until I'm done with the empire and flip prussia for the wars of unification, and I never dismantle since forming germany dismantles now I do that instead. I also keep my trade in lubeck "but wait doesn't that waste money from your colonial empire because you can't trans-" shut. I sometimes fish for burgundy but ally netherlands is also fun especially if you grant them an electorship so they stay in the empire. and also never imperial german borders KleinDeutschland isn't a compromise an emperor would accept.
Despite how slow game works during the war of protestant league I vote for the protestant HRE, because it's cool and I want to see how prussian space marines obliterate the whole armies in this war
Let me know if you want to see part 2! Subscribe so you don't miss it!
Part 2 NOW!
We want to see goose steps!
Yes, yes please!
Ja
Definitely want to see part 2! I'm loving these longer form campaigns, Red! Personally, I would vote for dismantling the HRE.
Ngl I do like these longer campaigns. A-Z, and releasables give a fun challenge. But sometimes you just wanna play a game without any particularly difficult goals, and just have fun.
Yeah I gave up on going for achievements by now lol I just pick a random nation, and just chill
yeah fuck the rng, only paradox game that is so dependent on it
yup, a balance between the two is def needed. Challenges for excitement and mentally stimulating gameplay, then chill slow long campaigns for relaxation. That way you dont get burnt out OR bored, lol
Protastant HRE sounds fun. You dismantle it so often.
Flip it Protestant. Think of how many extra missionaries you get by the princes being your religion and converting for you.
Flip protestant and unify the HRE 'cause the HRE emperor was also king of Germany! :)
Flip protestant plz! Would make for a cooler campaign
Flip it Protestant
The common way of doing it is to dismantle the HRE entirely so I thinj you should flip the entire HRE protestant
Protestant HRE sounds cool af. Destroying it isn’t terribly difficult with certain strategies, but building it anew, with Luther’s reforms? Now that’s more interesting, and more roleplay-ish.
Hawk, love this idea of grand campaigns. Don’t know why it took so long to start with them but hey here we are. Please continue with them!
I think another classic grand campaign might be historic (but better) Castille run.
Goals:
1. monopolize new world by owning all of Americas colonized by you or your subject (like Portugal),
2. stay catholic entire game (embrace the counter-reformation, take harsh stand in the council of Trent, join the Catholic League and win the religious war),

He could the whole mission tree for Castille/Spain
up
Fight in the Protestant League war and make a the empire protestant
This is so weird, I can see this video from within the challenges playlist but it’s not appearing on your main channel page. Really enjoying the grand campaign series though so I’m excited for this campaign!
I forgor to post it 💀
26:00 I like how hawk just says "no" like he's got multiple personality disorder
I don't care if it has been done by every other EU4 youtuber ever. If Hawk hasn't done it, it's not done!
You're honestly just entertaining. Been using your videos while I can't play, but the editing and commentary is the best of anyone I've seen.
Good lord playing that far into the timeline.
I salute your endurance and finally understand how things you love can become a job/chore.
protestant HRE it happens so rarely in Germany games it would be nice to see
Can't wait for another episode, i love these type of campaigns where you just play the game and tell us what you're doing
Came for the Brandenburg, stayed for the Brandenburgundy
I also started a Prussia campaign and now you upload this video. Great timing!
I am enjoying the grand campaign videos. Found your channel from your Roman Empire campaign.

I love this series ❤ and the most important, I see you also enjoy it!
Flipping the Empire Protestant sounds really cool.
nobles already have a privilege on manpower that prevents you from taking crown land so you should take the one on ccr
This is a surprise. I am also in the middle of my own Brandenburg campaign. Currently caught off guard by the league war. It triggered before I had a chamce to switch religion

I really like this format! Its cool to Watch how you play the game and I like Your commentary 👉😎👉
I'd really to see you do the war of the protestant league but I also understand it is far more convenient to dismantle the HRE. And I suppose at this stage you are not very concerned about small HRE guys being eaten up by surroundings big guys as you're stronger. I'm excited to see what's next. Many thanks for this campaign!
a HRE grand campaign could also be cool
Protestant HRE is always jokes, I say go for it
11:48 man you can really never trust youtubers smh
hello my man, quite happy you do this campain, this is my favorite and most done one, but i was wondering why you wouldn't do all the missions (exept the hre ones)? lot of love bro
Your videos always make my day. Love you hawk

Love the classic campaigns, keeping it narrative and not just meta gaming!!!
The Burgundy horse event can only happen if you're at peace, so the best way to prevent it is to be at war as much as possible for the next 40 years.
The last time I played Bohemia, I made a mistake; starting from 1444 I was AGGRESSIVELY declaring wars on as many ally networks as I could in the HRE to convert most princes to Hussite.
Then the Reformation didn't happen.
Oops...
Oh yesss what a Christmas gift, thank you Hawk
Hell yeah I'm buckled up for another one of these
I ended up blobbing as Catholic Brandenburg for way longer than I expected.
Being emperor and not having to deal with Defender of the Faith was super helpful, so I feel you.
Red Hawk, you went and got my hopes up...
Never have seen a campaign where someone plays as Prussia and guns to become Protestant HRE emperor. I say go for that!
Regarding Burgundian Succession - I found that if I'm constantly changing favors for trust to have at least 70-75 trust, Burgundy always chooses me, even if there's some stronger guys. And once as an Austria I used favors to call them in my wars and they chose Brittany, good thing that I was an emperor and could easily steal Burgundy to myself immediately via war

brandenburg is pretty much the epitome of suffering from success
Happy christmas big guy!
Should've taken admin early. It's not a minmax thing, you simply can't do anything with the -50% gov cap you need to mitigate that somehow. The gov cap with admin ideas are also additive to the gov cap penalty so it's technically double the effect.
As prussian space marines dismantle everything a remold it in the name of the Emperor.
The Emperor demands it!
Brandenburg into Prussia is probably my favorite nation to play in this game
Big brain move: lose the league war as catholic emperor and flip after that.
Definitely a vote for Protestant HRE here. Happy Christmas!
Poland into PLC grand campaign would be cool
As PLC conquer whole British Empire to become ONE TRUE COMMONWEALTH.
Simply vassal swarm, thanks for the blessings
Last time i watched you were nearly bald! Both appalled and glad with myself to be back.
"Brandenburg: a tough start" - Red Hawk, 2024
I feel like flipping HRE religion is much more rare than dismantling it, so it sounds like more fun.
I like your start. It's where my grandfather came from.
i want to encourage you to play a Gotland Pirates Campaign where you switch to Norse Faith and Culture (via animist rebels) and dominate the seas. with ships that move so fast that you can travel from Europe to Indonesia in 1 Month, and where one of your Heavy Ships can sink a whole Fleet of enemies.
I love opening with inno-offensive for BB games just for the policy that gives 10% siege ability and +1 siege pips
Every Bradenburg playthrough asks the same question: What if the Germans locked in on the "Empire" part of the Holy Roman Empire?
Hussite Denmark is so cursed, I kind of want a sidecampaign where Hawk jumps nations to just play them
Form Prussia and flip back to Catholic.
Dismantling is such a anti-climax
Flip the HRE protestant and become the emperor again!
Flipping to protestant Emperor would be cool.

Definitley flip it Protestant please
Btw hawk, if you take the manpower privilege for the nobles, it has the same effect as the ccr so it's better to take both
*wants to play super-militaristic Germany*
*everyone tripping all over themselves to become friends and vassals*
Prussia is easily a top tier formable
Going to royal marry with Burgundy while playing with Brandenburg is like cheating
Wtf.. a prussian playthrough when I just did that the last week with a mp game with my friends?!
Granted it's Brandenburg and not Teutonic Order but it still funny this came out at the same time.
The Grand campaigns return
would love a Sweden later down the road or Lithuania commonwealth or maybe even a Ethiopa or a georgia Playthrough
Can’t wait for part 2 !
When playing in yhe HRE (except austria), I like to kick off with a show strength war really early. 300 mana is huge at the start of the campaign
I was hoping for a teutonic order into prussia into germany for historical accuracy but brandenburg works too
Mmm Germany conquering Poland
That's new, never heard of it before...
Do the RING OF FIRE challenge.
start as a pacific northwest u.s tribe and conquer everything that touches the pacific.
Should do the Protestant HRE just because everyone goes the easier route and dissolves the HRE, which I get, but since this is for end of the year go the hard way.
Fight the league war and flip the HRE protestant! Also show some of the highlight battles from the league war plz.
Ah, yes. Supermegaturbo Germany.
I think changing them to Protestant would be cooler everyone just dismantle the hre
Could you do a run as Teutonic Horde to Mongol Empire? Could be fun
I would love a second part
Dismantling the HRE early is optional. Leaving the HRE Is mandatory. You don't need to be a duchy.
Next mega campaign could be Peasant Republic Russia, with USSR borders, and their sphere as Vassals/clients
I did as wel 2 days ago. Poland went absolute berserk. Couldn't take teutonic lands. Sweden declared independence, and in the peace poland got parts of teutonic. Then they got both Bohemia and hungary in a PU.
They have 200k troops in the year 1500. Gods sake.

feliz navidad mis hermanos de eu4 🎄🫂
You should add conquering Britain as goal since the royal family has German roots a little bit role playing
Protestant HRE lead by Prussia is some Hasburg Nightmare shit... do it
Merry Christmas!
Despite how slow game works during the war of protestant league I vote for the protestant HRE, because it's cool and I want to see how prussian space marines obliterate the whole armies in this war
I'd say do a Protestant HRE for the boosts. Since it will help a lot if you don't get Admin ideas.
Embrace the suffering, flip the HRE.
