In a testament to FDR"s character, he passed the Good Neighbor Policy which enabled significant growth in developing nations, called the Developmentalism era, until Eisenhower came in. He truly was an exceptional human being.

On February 19, 1942, FDR issued Executive Order 9066, which led to the forced relocation of approximately 120,000 Japanese Americans living on the West Coast. Also put Japanese americans in camps, stole their property and kicked them to the curb. Not the greatest guy.

@@Lightningkuriboh that comparison is not quite apples to apples. People are products of their environment and the environment washington lived in at the time of his life was one in which rich land owners owned slaves. As opposed to Roosevelt, though racism was a part of the environment in most of the us, internment camps weren’t.

FDR was elected four times and became more popular with each time.
He's responsible for Social Security, which is the most popular federal program to date.
Thousands of federal jobs, which put Americans back to work.
Universalizing unionization, so that employees and their bosses can negotiate reasonable wages, which built up a strong middle class for DECADES to follow.
Brought upon regulations on capitalism, preventing economic crashes for DECADES until they were repealed in the 80's.
Created a strong social safety net for women and poor children while men went off to war.
Tried both right and left wing economic approaches during his presidency to see what worked best, and led America OUT of the Depression while mobilizing the country to war ON TWO FRONTS.
Defeated Hitler and left America as the world's sole superpower.
Was a highly effective political organizer in accomplishing his goals.

@@drewp.weiner2473 Yeah almost everything you said is false on virtually every level.
Social Security clearly works. Giving the elderly money works by definition.
Giving someone a federal job isn't a welfare check. It's giving someone a job. If you regard "doing good things" as welfare, then everyone supports welfare on some level. That would be like saying that being offered a 50k job by Amazon was welfare - if it existed.
Countless studies show that higher levels of unionization result in higher pay for workers. It works so well that in countries with high unionization, they abolished the minimum wage because it wasn't even necessary.
"Economic regulation stifles economic growth." Literally a right wing bumper sticker with fifth grade nuance. It depends on what the regulation is. Regulation isn't inherently good or bad.
Economic growth persisted between the New Deal and the 1970's. There haven't been any significant crashes AT ALL during that period. It's regarded as the "Golden Age of Economic Expansion".
FDR wasn't at all a radical Leftist. He embraced periods of right wing austerity AND leftist social democracy. He was a centrist who vigorously tried to save Capitalism from a Communist revolution that was brewing after the crash, which was brought upon by laissez-faire economics. FDR was a Keynesian.
I suggest avoiding hyperpartisan propaganda like Fox News documentaries, because almost everything you said was factually false. (Not on a matter of opinion, but on FACT.)
