This is probably one of the best you could hope for from a Flea Market. I would have considered it a score for the right price, especially considering how terrible most of them are..
I have never bought any Chinesium flea market amps, but I have purchased quite a few cheap flea market subs and they ALL sounded like garbage. The only ones that sounded anywhere near decent was a set of 6.5"s in a decent sized box that my buddy put in his 1984 S-10 as a joke with a power inverter and the amp was my Technics home amplifier...lmao It took up the entire space between the two bucket seats, but it sounded decent...
@@BucksSuperStereoWorld I can't say that I've ever heard a bad sounding sub in a good box. I have pushed subs past there limits and got muddy/muffled bass. I have found some subs are extremely overrated and start distorting way before there "peak" or "rms". Most of these companies are lying in one way or another; even the big brands. Often alot of the cheaper subs sound decent around 50-100ish watts, then turn to garbage past that.
I remember when I was a kid checking out the Swap Meet in Tucson on the weekends with my dad. And being the little basshead i was then, my dad would buy me these cheap Thump subs and amps, Pyramid eq's. Thump has definitely stepped up on their game w this amp! Excellent review man!

I am impressed with this Thump! amp. 1 of my first subwoofers was a 10 inch Thump! back in 2001 I was in 11 years old in 6th grade. I wish i still had one to test out today in my truck but they are indeed getting harder to find these days!!
I also had a Thump 10 and I had a 250watt Thump amp hooked up in my bedroom using a 12v battery charger and a deep cell marine battery. Thump was actually sold in stores. I bought mine at Meijer. They were around $60 for the amp and the same for the sub, but it came with a sealed box
I had one of the T4006 models and it to this day is still one of my favourite amps. It could not be killed, took out a few subs though. Thanks for bringing me back down memory lane!
Much nicer and mo better than I anticipated...was cahoots with a Korean Flea marketer back in the day who sold me a few of Thump green labeLED `12" inch subs and blew them all with a pioneer/mitsubishi setup. BTW I used razor blades placed behind my system back in the day for protection in my Vans

So I found your channel after being on YT close to 15 years myself. While not an audiophile or a car bass addict, back in the 90's I had a CRX which had for the day a system. Pioneer head, with cd player, the old school sled style. 2 Cerwin-Vega 6x9 in the doors , 2 CV 4" tweeters in the dash, and 2 JBL 10's, in a custom built box for that car. For a car that had a little north of 800 watts rms back in my day. That little shit box had the shakes. I did have a 4 channel rock fuzzy 1000 watt amp pushing it. These are close to those Zed audio units back in the day but they are amazing and very profitable when matched their Thump subwoofers and surprise a lot of people whom do not see the amp or sub and Cadence of the day was my other budget go to package that sold quick at a great low cost but high profit range.
It's funny though for $279 retail. You got 357 Watts. That may not sound like a lot by today's standards. But when I started in Car Audio I paid around $1 per watt. Which was in 1997. So this would have been a decent value. You should make a plexi cover for it. This would be great in an old school low budget brand build. Put it on a couple of pyle subwoofers in a mirrored band pass box. Great content as always. I think you and I grew up in a very similar time in car audio. Keep up the good work!
Had one a long time ago. It pushed 2 pioneer gold series in a isobaric enclosure. I’ll just say this…my buddy with 2 JL audio 12’s was impressed that it hit harder than his did. But I lost the car from no Drivers license no tags no registration and no insurance so I got pulled over in the car was impounded and I lost it all
Best thing I can say about the subs is I really liked the box it was quite sturdy and is the first box his phoenix gold dual voice coil 12 inch subs he first got his Rockford fosgate punch800a4 to run til he bought the JL audio wo v6
I actually got one with a 10" ma audio subwoofer and box for $20. Now i'm pushing a 15" Hertz on a Skar Ported box with 700 watts peak 350 rms and it bumps. I'm impress on the bass it hits.
I too had 2-15" thumps in a 4 cubic ft bandpass box( thrown by the dumpster behind an audio shop) powered by 2-1000w pyramids. Rattled parts off that 1989 cutlass Calais ( we removed the back seat to fit the box)
@@travisschnitz4362 mine were powered by a Majestic 800w amp, it was an underwhelming setup. My friend with a couple 10" Blues put me to shame until I got myself a Punch 200 and some Series 1 15's

And of course UA-cam censored my post🙄 If you guys search that model number into Yandex or Qwant image search, you'll see just how massive that amp was 🤩 It was pretty heavy too... Probably due to the huge heatsinks that make this Thump look anorexic by comparison
@@jeffdamakedaddy yes it was indeed Farenheit . I removed the long chrome plate and the blue plexiglass and replaced it with a red one. My blue one had a couple of cracks around the mounting screws. I have a video of it in Geo Tracker
Hidden gem! Did anyone else see the 50_2 silkscreen onto the PCB? This amp seems to perform in line with high- end 50x2 amps from way back. Curious if it will do the low impedance loads the old Orion or Zed Audio-made amps would. We all know that Korean amps are generally high quality.
My first system was two 2005 blue in color, see threw plastic top, 300watt VR3 sub amp from Wal-Mart an two Jensen XBass 12inch subs with the massive rubber around them and couldent afford inside speakers in the 92 tbird so I put scooshe bass blockers on the back speakers an turn the fade 2 down towards the back on the esa circuit city 160watt head unit
A friend of mine had a huge thump amp that was a PG knock off, bridged 2 ohm mono to two 350 pioneer free air 10” from Walmart in a 1.5 cu. ft. Sealed box in a square body explorer and it was loud, didn’t do great on the lows but you could hear him coming for many blocks.
Definitely recommend using some Skullcandy crusher evo headphones to watch your videos. The bass is amazing on these. You should do a review on these. Literally feels like there's a sub in your ear.
I saw one of these at a somewhat reputable shop back in my hometown way back in the day...They were selling them for like $109. They also sold Sentrek amps as well (both brands notorious for their known quality and power output). Both of those amps were for the budget bassheads that didn't care that there was barely any bass.... The internals on this amp weren't that bad for what it was. And the amp sounded decent on the quad box (thankfully the computer I am watching on has 2 -12s for low end so i could get a somewhat decent representation of Quadzilla...lol)
Senterk amps were great actually! They would run 2ohm mono all day hot AF n keep on beating! Believe I had a 420 watt one? It actually burned the positive terminal off the power block and just soldered the actual positive wire directly to the board. 🤣
JBC was my fav why just because I had one of their amps and a pair of their 6x9 lol with crazy huge magnets It thumped tho,. Good find on this Thump love the old retro amps Malibu, Sherwood, ect
Had one of the T4006's back in the day powering a couple of Jensen XS1212's in a bandpass box, worked pretty good until someone stole it. Amp definitely ran hot, had to flip it over, take the cover off and put a couple of computer case fans blowing on the internals. In hindside I think that may have been because I was running it bridged with a 2 ohm load.
I had an "800' watt thump pushing two 12 in kicker comp gold.. had it bridged @ 4 ohm... Used to flex the quarter panels of my LTD 😆😆 Clarion pro audio deck, infinity mids and highs.. profile x-over Sony running the mids and highs.. wast too bad for what it was 🔥🔥

I had a couple of those thumps when I had no money and just wanted a stereo, also had a thump 350watt believe model was ta-1501, chrome and red fins, would hammer the Boston g5 subs until overheat protect come on, but swear that amp hit harder than a clarion 1550.1 at that time, just short bursts tho
@@wal this was back in the early 90s they also sold crunch subs and amps my 1st system was 2 crunch 12s with a crunch amp cant remember wattage rating and a pyramid tape deck lmao
hmm does a bass boost switch add 6db? or does the off position lower the restof the eq outside of 45hz to prevent clipping? perhaps output power is higher with the switch on and at 45hz?
What's the chance of you doing a series of reviews of unserseat powered subs? I'm thinking one of those would do a great job of adding bass to an existing good quality factory system. Not needing lots of thump, just fill in the missing bass.
This was probably the start of the Korean made amps. Several other brands seemed to use the same board. L.A Sound 3nd gen amps used the same or similar board. 4 channel versions Laguna, Long Beach and Malibu. I Ran a Laguna mixed Mono on some RF components and some RF 10's. It was enough to make it bump. Amp board also found in the Majestic Graphite series. I will say the power rating on the Laguna must have been closer to spec being rated at 4x100 max.
I remember the L.A. Sounds stuff being on display with those amps and a few of their Isobaric boxes, Sounded pretty good. I bought one of those said boxes with 2 10" subs in it from a pawn shop and it bumped real good but one of the speakers was about half blown. I took it back but not before getting the crucial measurements from the box and making my own with some 10" punches and a punch 45. Sounded damn good for what it was.
Hey bro actually when you said at the end if there are any flea market amps that was good. Their actually was! Pyramid made the "Super Pro" series amps that was made in collaboration with PPI (Precision Power). If you could find one of those and Dyno that. I'd love to see how that would hold up. I think that would have been the only well respectable amp in the flea market category. Lol

Each sub is 400W RMS handling. I’d go with a 1000-1500W amp, but you’ll also need to use the wiring guide to make sure you have them wired properly for the amp. Check the RockfordFosgate.com website for their wiring calculator
Had this amp with an audio gods head unit. Was in the trunk of an 85 Mercury Topaz (FIRST CAR). Power wires ran through the door hinge like a pro. Kragen auto parts finest door speakers. The sub was actually a peavey 12" concert speaker. I'm not just talking about the driver. The whole damn enclosure, horn tweeter and all. Sounded terrible! I was cool with my bumps though!
The internals look like a lot of amps from that era, lanzar, boss, crunch, Memphis PR, crossfire CFA and many others. Same “MAP” part number designation.
is that thump amp from the same thump that was one of the Anaba USA brands from back when Anaba had thump, hot shots, mobile authority, and a few others?

I was thinking under 125w, but I was pleasently surprised. I remember Thump, but just barely...
I was shocked
These are close to those Zed audio units back in the day but they are amazing and very profitable when matched their Thump subwoofers and surprise a lot of people whom do not see the amp or sub and Cadence of the day was my other budget go to package that sold quick at a great low cost but high profit range.
They still have not paid me any royalties for using my name in their branding.
Turns out it don't thump though
Ain that the truth...
@@ThisIsSolution Turns out this is probably why I never got paid…
At least you still got your Bambi money
@@ranchosdelnorte yeah it wasn’t much but I think my lucks coming afoot
It's funny though for $279 retail. You got 357 Watts. That may not sound like a lot by today's standards. But when I started in Car Audio I paid around $1 per watt. Which was in 1997. So this would have been a decent value. You should make a plexi cover for it. This would be great in an old school low budget brand build. Put it on a couple of pyle subwoofers in a mirrored band pass box. Great content as always. I think you and I grew up in a very similar time in car audio. Keep up the good work!
Yeah we paid out the wazoo for stuff back then
Had one a long time ago. It pushed 2 pioneer gold series in a isobaric enclosure. I’ll just say this…my buddy with 2 JL audio 12’s was impressed that it hit harder than his did. But I lost the car from no Drivers license no tags no registration and no insurance so I got pulled over in the car was impounded and I lost it all
😲
Best thing I can say about the subs is I really liked the box it was quite sturdy and is the first box his phoenix gold dual voice coil 12 inch subs he first got his Rockford fosgate punch800a4 to run til he bought the JL audio wo v6
I actually got one with a 10" ma audio subwoofer and box for $20. Now i'm pushing a 15" Hertz on a Skar Ported box with 700 watts peak 350 rms and it bumps. I'm impress on the bass it hits.
I want one now seeing those internals omg idc it’s beautiful
I'm impressed clean all the way to clipping !!! Wish all amps could do that
the lack of dynamic power though...
Used to have some old Pyle subs with gold logo 20 years ago from what I remember they actually sounded good
Some of the Pyle and even Pyramid subs were actually good
Hahaha great memories, this was my first system at 14yrs old I had a thump amp and four thump 12s
Below is what I bought for $200. For my all Memphis project up front VIV 60c components.
A Mojo 15 for the boom. Should I take it back
My first set of 15's were Thump P-15's, I upgraded to some 15" Rockford Series 1's after that, slowly but surely improving as the years went by
I too had 2-15" thumps in a 4 cubic ft bandpass box( thrown by the dumpster behind an audio shop) powered by 2-1000w pyramids.
That yellow heat sink is cool.
👌😬👍
Thump was the first subwoofer I bought. it was a 12" for $25 new. I made a sub box out of my trunk by my bed. My parents weren't too happy...
😂
Wish you'd pull the transistor clamps off and let some of us uber nerds see what parts they are using. Guessing TIP35/36 pairs but could be something else. Must know!! Great vids, btw!
😬👍
Flea amps are special. A video documentary on the origin would be interesting
Love the idea
Sweet looking amp.
id love to see some la sound amps. malibu 120s would be great
i had some thump 12s they sounded ok as long as u put less 200w rms through each of them. Not as bad as it sounds for 20 years ago
👌😬👍
More one excellent video Will!!! Could You test some amplifier Soundigital evo-5 to us? Thanks!!!
Ask Soundigital 😬
@@wal Ask You...
Big D I had a Power Acoustik that looked just like that
Prob used by a few companies at the time
Same here! Do you happen to know the model/series of these? I had no luck with random searches. And PA's looked better if you ask me.
I used a bunch of search engines and finally Yandex for the win! It's the Farenheit series 😁 I had the Farenheit Q2-1800 🤩
Now thats a 'cutting edge' technological amp
My first system was two 2005 blue in color, see threw plastic top, 300watt VR3 sub amp from Wal-Mart an two Jensen XBass 12inch subs with the massive rubber around them and couldent afford inside speakers in the 92 tbird so I put scooshe bass blockers on the back speakers an turn the fade 2 down towards the back on the esa circuit city 160watt head unit
Yessssss. Thank you big D! 🙏
👌😬👍
A friend of mine had a huge thump amp that was a PG knock off, bridged 2 ohm mono to two 350 pioneer free air 10” from Walmart in a 1.5 cu. ft. Sealed box in a square body explorer and it was loud, didn’t do great on the lows but you could hear him coming for many blocks.
He Thumped Tho!
Definitely did more power than I expected.
Makes me want to do an all flea market stuff system for the heck of it.
Do it!
Definitely recommend using some Skullcandy crusher evo headphones to watch your videos. The bass is amazing on these. You should do a review on these. Literally feels like there's a sub in your ear.
Those using their phones are not getting the full experience for sure!
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Thanks for watching and commenting!
wonder if the listed dimensions in the Mags was without the decorative fin pack.
Thieves suck!
I used to rock some US Acoustics amps I got from Crutchfield back in the day.
👌😬👍
I had an "800' watt thump pushing two 12 in kicker comp gold.. had it bridged @ 4 ohm... Used to flex the quarter panels of my LTD 😆😆 Clarion pro audio deck, infinity mids and highs.. profile x-over Sony running the mids and highs.. wast too bad for what it was 🔥🔥
Awesome 👏
How did you bridge them?
Awesome the last few videos this year I believe you have played more of the bass tracks I'm More accustomed to being I have tech master p.e.b.,bass outlaws illegal bass, def bass krew bass party,dj magic Mike and the Miami bass machine, bass 305,bass mechanic, and Newtown music group king of quad..
Surprisingly better than I thought......
I never had thump amp but had 8 inch thump subwoofers in the 90's. They did bump
I had that amp back in the day but it was a 1000watt and it slammed 3 impp pioneers 12s in a 2door explorer
they used to sell thump subs and amps at our local hardware store along with pyramid stuff
Get your hardware and hard bass at the same place 😝
Thanks for the suggestion
Not bad. For a flea market amp, I would have been very happy back in the day.
Honestly, really cool amp. I'd rock it.
👌😬👍
This was probably the start of the Korean made amps. Several other brands seemed to use the same board. L.A Sound 3nd gen amps used the same or similar board. 4 channel versions Laguna, Long Beach and Malibu. I Ran a Laguna mixed Mono on some RF components and some RF 10's. It was enough to make it bump. Amp board also found in the Majestic Graphite series. I will say the power rating on the Laguna must have been closer to spec being rated at 4x100 max.
👌😬👍
I remember the L.A. Sounds stuff being on display with those amps and a few of their Isobaric boxes, Sounded pretty good. I bought one of those said boxes with 2 10" subs in it from a pawn shop and it bumped real good but one of the speakers was about half blown. I took it back but not before getting the crucial measurements from the box and making my own with some 10" punches and a punch 45. Sounded damn good for what it was.
Good stuff d
You should do decibel readings when you do the "do it thump tho" section
That would be neat
Hey bro actually when you said at the end if there are any flea market amps that was good. Their actually was! Pyramid made the "Super Pro" series amps that was made in collaboration with PPI (Precision Power). If you could find one of those and Dyno that. I'd love to see how that would hold up. I think that would have been the only well respectable amp in the flea market category. Lol
I remember those and the PPI collectors do too. They are hard to find
I had a old Thump amp back in 1995(looked like a PG amp) driving a pair of 4ohm EQ1065's bridged for nearly 10yrs... only got replaced due to a new car 🚗

@@wal nah it was the tha3000, wasn't supposed to run 2ohm bridged... but it survived
My guess would be about 3~400w into the old Earthquakes, they got pretty loud n deep in a shared 4.5cf@32Hz box... old skool bro 😎
i commented on the preview then i spent a few thinking about it my brother had thump and i think thump subs couldn't get it to sound right ... pretty sure his was purple and the subs had purple surrounds want to say with a rat on the dustcap could be wrong though it was 20+ years ago and he got them at Hills department store in the 90's i want to say
@@TheSFFV hey?
Pyramid was my go to for flea market gear lol
Was not expecting that gut shot
I got a question tho… I have three 12s and they Rockford p2 and I need to know what size amp I can use….
Oh man, jamming!
I grew up less than like 10 minutes driving distance from Rancho Dominguez. Mostly an Industrial area.
I remember my first set subs were thump... Had them hooked up to a pull out Alpine cassette😅 it bump doeee
It’d be so nice to see you dyno a lunar
Check HiFiVega, he tested one
I would so put a plexy glass on that amp and display it what a thing of beauty
Yes!
The internals look like a lot of amps from that era, lanzar, boss, crunch, Memphis PR, crossfire CFA and many others. Same “MAP” part number designation.
😬👍
I was way off was guessing like 461 watts RMS at 2 ohm mono.. lol. Got any LA sound?
is that thump amp from the same thump that was one of the Anaba USA brands from back when Anaba had thump, hot shots, mobile authority, and a few others?
Apparently
That cellophane will keep the KFC prints off it :D
Bump and Thump are always great names for an amp...
👌😬👍
You should send it to Audio Science Review to do the test in the analyzer. check for actual distortion.
