- Last Sunday, I had the pleasure of revisiting Southend for the first time in many years, and I explored the beauty of the Southend Pier Railway in the beautiful sun. It really is a wonderful railway to visit with picturesque views. On the way, I enjoyed the pleasant c2c ride to Southend from Barking station, and rode the cliff lift which boasts incredible views.
Special thanks to my mum, my amazing camerawoman, who helped record certain parts of the video :)

I love that you waved bye to the intercom as that’s definitely something I’d do…😂😂😂
I don't know why but when you walked down the exit only stairs I got me
you are the new Geoff Marshall
That means a lot to me, thanks!
@@rikufryderyk you should go on the volks electric railway when it's open
I certainly will!
your videos always bring me a smile 😃
I see it is now green and cream like was in the 50s when I was a child (now 69).
Yes you’re right! I’m sure it’s amazing to have seen the railway develop and use different rolling stock over the years :) Are you from Southend?
Now I’ve been to Southend hundreds of times but this is the first time I’ve heard of the Cliff Lift. So thank you for that bit of info…
Well done Riku. You are a natural for Broadcasting , unbelievable at such a tender age. Your Videography, editing skills, brilliant. Keep up the good work.👍😎
Nice vid keep it up nice to see your mum
Great video all wayes your vids are good keep the good work up
Nice video! The train on the other platform actually only got retired last year I believe! Well, it was recent anyway. I'm not sure why they replaced those trains, the modern version of the railway (the current version opened in the 80's after a long closure I believe) but they have now had at least three trains. Maybe it's just peoples ever changing wants and desires... Also, did you know this was the second permenant electric railway in the country! You should do a visit to the first permanent one in brighton, the Volks Electric Railway.
@nathanieldonnelly9249 Oh ok, as far as i'm aware they all got retired in 2022
Wow! What a great video!
Good video. Went there in 2018 sad to see the old trains are no longer in use.
Even the slow trains from Barking to Southend don’t go to Grays or Tilbury. Means you’ve gone on the Tilbury loop, which takes much longer!
So now there are 2 reasons for me to visit Southend, the Pier Railway and the Funicular Lift, have you been on the Chiltern Railway from Marylebone to Princes Risborough where you can take a steam train to Chinnor and back
A well produced video! I must do some rail videos myself soon, when I get a better camera.
Some additional interesting facts about the Southend Pier train are on the web:

Geoff Marshall and Viki Pipe have competition !!!
Thanks!
What a coincidence you’re mentioning Vicki Pipe
When I was at Southend that day eating fish and chips, I looked out of the window and gasped because I saw her! After nervously attempting to go and ask for a selfie, she turned her head and it wasn’t her sadly.
nice one
Nice little journey! :) I was just wondering have you been to or plan to go to the new bank station entrance? I've been, it's nothing special but I think a fellow train enthusiast would enjoy it! I may be a little biased about bank though, being from nearby 👀
Do you think I should cover bank station?
@rikufryderyk I think so! It's not got much too it but I think a short video would do the trick! And also, with it being not too far from where I live, there is collab potential... (but if you dont want too, I understand you don't know me very well, this is really just me wanting too meet a quality youtuber) anyways that's not the point, but yes I recommend you visit!
How long did it take from Barking to Southend, riku .
I've wanted to film a video their for a while
Have you thought about doing the volks in Brighton
Just over a hour, allow yourself 1.5hrs
