- The Russian S-350 Vityaz anti-aircraft missile system shot down a Ukrainian aircraft while operating in fully automatic mode, RIA reported. The report claims that the new Russian anti-aircraft system shot down the aircraft without an operator’s participation. The system’s missiles shot down several of Ukraine’s combat aircraft and drones, RIA Novosti reported. The report also said that the combat crew, at the same time, only controlled the operation of the complex. In August 2022, a video suggested that the S-350 Vityaz was deployed less than 40 miles from the Ukrainian border. The air defence system is designed to protect against attacks by modern and advanced air attack weapons. One military expert claims that the S-350 Vityaz is much better than the American-built Patriot air missile systems. Watch this video to know more.

Russians only use whatever weapons are appropriate for the current level of escalation. That's why this is a "special military operation" and not an all out war. Even within nuclear warfare there are levels of escalation like neutron bombs and EMP blasts before the actual strategic world-ending nukes.

Ukraine is using s-300 and 80 percent of the missle Ukraine intercepted is by the use of its s-300. S-300 is proven better than himars and patriot, unfortunately ukraine is low of s-300 ammunition.

I tend to prefer the CAESAR gun : longer range than the M777 and its targetting computer and long barrel make guided shells useless... Why spending $70k into an Excalibur when a boosted standard 155mm shell can be about as accurate?
In fact, the only cool thing with the M777 is its light weight so you can sling it under a medium helicopter while you'll need a Mi-26, An-12 or C-130 to move a 6-wheeled CAESAR, and an A400M for the 8-wheels version. Thus there are guided parachute able to accurately deliver an air-dropped CAESAR gun...

Kalashnikov did design a new weapon used everywhere in the world that's right. Because one can literally bath the AK-47 in mud and shoot afterwards without any problem. That's why and because of the ammunition penetration she's loved, not so because she's accurate. The AK-100 is the better choice, if you ask me.

@Alex Perez The dagger is a hypersonic weapon. On UA-cam there is a video with a flight, the engine runs constantly. The United States is trying to create an analogue of this missile but has not been able to for 8 years. In Russia since 2018, intercontinental hypersonic missiles, the United States abandoned this program because they could not solve technical problems.
But can be demolished by a cheap ass commercial drone :D

Three Russian hypersonic missiles scientists were jailed after the failed attempt to destroy it.....
S-350 just uses the 2M996 , the "little" missile from S-300/400, those mounted in quad packs instead of the big cannisters in these systems.
If you want something better than Patriot AND THAAD at the same time (ad for a fraction of the price), go for SAMP/T-NG.
It uses the Aster-NT missiles which are truly impressive, in fact, even previous Aster-30 was already jawdropping within a 100km radius, and Aster-15 up to 40km, equipping many navy vessels into VLS, at the point it's surprising that the land version doesn't sells as big [mostly thanks to US hardcore lobbying], but the two NT (new technology) missiles are simply outstanding. The block.2 reaches more than 2x THAAD's range and altitude and is specialized against ballistic/hypersonic missiles while block.1 has range on par with S-300/400's 48N6 but the very difference is that.. the interceptor are small, doing unescapable manoeuvers and will re-lock on target if dodged, Aster-15/30 was already the only SAM proven able to intercept Mach3 cruise missiles similar to Oniks/BrahMos at only a 6ft altitude.
A SAMP/T battery costs the 5th of a Patriot one and the quarter of a THAAD one, and unlike Patriot, they are highly mobile, deploying into 5 minutes and folding and moving into 3 minutes
I would love to see Ukraine get a couple of these air defense systems.
@@joerosa170 unfortunately, except in VLS on ships, there are rather few: only co-builders Italy and France and, surprisingly since it's more an US turf in a very challenging area, Singapour... It's obvious that the mobility, knowing they're near totally urban, is a big point, as well as having Asters in VLS on ships.
IDK if the SAMP/T-NG has started deliveries, but a thing that is sure, EuroSAM/MBDA are already taking orders and the test launches are said to be outstanding
@@joerosa170 I just came to learn that Paris is actually transferring some SAMP/T aka "MAMBA" SAM systems to Ukraine. This probably also means that the MAMBA-NG has also started to be delivered on schedule.
AFAIK, France only ordered 4 batteries of 4 launchers of the [not so] "old" MAMBA loaded with Aster-30.
Actually, a battery can be constituted of up to 6 launchers.
Italy ordered 6 launchers, likely into two batteries, Singapour ordered 12.
Seems that Ukraine has became the 4th user with one battery.
As I said, there are pretty few of these impressive air defence systems while the Aster missiles are deployed on the ships of 10 nations: Algeria, Egypt, France, Greece, Italy, Morocco, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapour, UK.
Other cool things with the MAMBA : 360° coverage (Patriot: 120°), direct Link-16 networking (Patriot has a proprietary network that needs an expensive optional "converter", e.g Saudi Patriot batteries are not networked with their AWACS as well as their land radars or ships sensors.
You also don't need an air-defence big control center, it works as a decentralized network, any NATO-compatible radar can connect directly to a command post which can also operate with its own radar off, or using a passive radar like the Thales HA-100. Usually, the French ones go with an APC-mounted GM-400 Groundmaster and also receive data from the two 1000km-ranged GS-1000 Ground Smarter, the giant NOSTRADAMUS trans horizon radar (sees a B-2 from 3000km with 5km accuracy as well as monitors space rockets launch in Kourou, Cape Canaveral (7000km+) as well as Baikonour, as well as Arctic's ice-pack moves, etc. NOSTRADAMUS is the most powerful radar in Europe and the only 360° OTHR).
