Medical shears are designed to cut off clothing without harming the wearer. A really great alternative to traditional scissors for removing the duct tape
I can't believe I never thought of only doing a single leg. I'm a big lady and every time I've done a DTD for digi legs I do a whole bottom half and that's so much ductape 😂 Learning something new every day!
I really like painter's tape as an alternative to duct tape for patterning. It just comes off a little easier, is a bit easier to cut, and doesn't have much of a glue mess. Either way, top-notch tips here for creating personalized and complex patterns.
I'm making my very first faun/satyr cosplay for the ren fair and I'm super excited! Previously I did so much research on finding a good tutorial but there was no luck. You guys inspired me to make this project and I'm so grateful that you guys are putting into the effort of making this series! Truely thank you!
Another method for duct tape wrapping that I saw with one of PricklyAlpaca's videos is to use cling wrap! No sacrificial pants necessary c: As someone who did a wrap for a corset mid-June in San Diego, it can get very hot 😅 make sure to be near an air-conditioner or be in cooler weather to avoid overheating!
Cling wrap is definitely an option! We opt for pants/leggings for comfort during the wrapping/patterning process, and durability of the pattern pieces, but you can use whatever works for you!
Fantastic tutorials! My daughter wanted to be a faun for a RenFaire visit in Ohio and your channel made that possible, thank you!!! We also meet another girl at the Faire wearing your tutorials. These were very well done and fun to watch. Thank you for all your hard work to share this with others! I was hoping to share a pic with you so could see how you inspired other - but I don’t see how on here. Anyway, thanks!
If you have experience with fursuits, this should be a breeze! Although I'll still recommend checking out our assembly video when it's released, we'll have some tips that might make the construction process go a bit smoother!
I am so thankful for this tutorial! My son wants to be a cow faun and I had no idea where to start as I've never done pants or fur before lol (only ever cosplayed Sailor Moon for myself). Thank you so much for this!
We're so glad we can help!! If you're new to sewing with fur, definitely stay tuned for our assembly tutorial where we'll give you tips for sewing the legs and working with faux fur :)
I made the hooves and tail with your tutorial, When making the headpiece I hadnt found you yet. Soon imma use this video to make the legs. Cant wait to get my faun cosplay done. She's my DnD character and I will bring her to Elfia :) Thank you so much
@@PremiumFauntentI got some photos from when at home. Styled her hair fresh this morning. I dont know where I can send the pictures in case you were still curious.
I met you lovely bunch at renfaire in Bellevue, and I'm almost done with my own costume! I freehanded the foam, so I'll have to make a custom pattern of the whole thing ^^" if i ever see you guys again, i hope you get to see!
OMG!!! Yessss!!! I cannot wait to utilize this when able to!!! Imma attempt to get my faun boy together soon!! Im pretty much done with the upholstery foam i already have and i got probably enough to do some of this project!! I do follow on tiktok btw.. this profile just isn’t under the cabbit profile is all… but very informative tutorial!! Love it!!
Omg, my kid wants to make this for Ren Faire in two weeks! Please post how to do the hooves and tail before this weekend if at all possible! We'll be sewing like crazy this weekend!
Unfortunately, I don’t think it’ll be possible for us to get the hooves and tail videos done this week 😕 we all work full time with varying schedules and this week is especially hectic. I’ll see what I can do, but I can’t make any guarantees 😞
So excited for you! Unfortunately, the next part may be more than a week out :/ We're having some scheduling issues with getting together to film. If only we could be fauns full time! lol
I hope the second part of this goes up soon!! I want to do this for a Renaissance Faire in my state at the end of August, but I'm hopeless when it comes to sewing by myself 😂😂😭😭
Me and my friend and going as fauns this year for the ren fair and hopefully years to come. It's been a huge process making the legs but we can't wait to see the out come!
Let me know when you post the 2nd part of this, please! I really wanna follow this for my own fawn cosplay that I'm going to be working on for texas ren fest 2022 in october! I'll also use your pattern when the time comes!
We’ll try to remember to remind you! But the best way in case we forget is to subscribe and hit the bell icon to get notifications when we post new videos 😊 that way you’ll never miss a tutorial!!
Love the Crit Role shirt! One question, how far should we extend the leg? By that I mean how high should the waist be and how far down should the legs go? Underwear/short hight maybe +1" for the top, and ankle length for the bottom?
The ankle edge and waist line will depend on your body shape and personal preference. (Hazel here) I have my waist line come up higher in the back, curving around the natural waist and then dipping slightly in the front so it sits on my hips for less adjustment during the day. For the ankle, I’d recommend going at least within an inch of the floor so you have wiggle room with the hooves!
Hi! Do you have any idea when the next video will be up? I'm going to Castlefest on August 5th and wanna make 2 Faun costumes for me and my partner, so I gotta get started pretty soon... I wanna use your tutorial but if it's not in time for my personal project I'll have to use something else! Also, do you think this is doable for a quite unexperienced cosplayer? Most complicated thing I've ever done was make wings (they did move tho) and I'm not a great at sewing😅 Is making 2 Faun costumes in a month too much?
The current goal is to have the video posted by the end of next weekend, provided that life doesn’t get in the way. Faun legs are definitely doable, but they will be a challenge if you’re not used to sewing (especially with faux fur). Depending on your sewing machine, you may run into issues with how bulky faux fur can be, but hand sewing can help with those issues. A pair of legs can be made start to finish in less than a week, so 2 in a month is doable 😊
do you think before putting duct tap on the form maybe putting tights/ pantyhoes over the foam then taping it? that way the calves are already lined with something to prevent it form sticking
This looks like a great and relatively easy tutorial, I'm still undecided on what colour to make the fur on the legs tho bcus my satyr dnd character has white hair on his head.😂
You want to use an upholstery foam, because Eva foam doesn’t have the thickness needed. A styrofoam is generally too brittle. Insulation foam board might work in a pinch!

Absolutely! We recommend either leggings or thin pajama/scrub pants. As long as the sacrificial pants aren't bulky and tough to cut through, pretty much anything goes!

That's an awesome tip!! Thank you for sharing, I didn't even think of medical shears :O
I'm attending a convention next year and I need to make a faun/deer outfit and this was SUPER useful.
