As a clinical nutritionist/ health counselor and psychotherapist of close to 53 years, I found this podcast excellent- chock full of valuable information to live a healthy life! Brilliant speaker and Dhru is the best moderator! Thank you so much for this wealth of information !!
I am not diabetic but at age 67 but I realized I had central obesity, higher BP, weight gain, and I was probably insulin resistant. YIKES. I purchased the CGM and boy did I learn what spiked my BG. That is the beauty of self-motivation and an education that is personal. I self-regulate now and graph the improvement in the lower Dawn Phenomenon readings, my average daily BG, my gradual weight loss, and know the foods that I want to avoid. It is fun, and easy to hold my Smart Phone over the button on my arm and check my pre-meal and post meal results effects of exercise, and even times of stress, like when I slept poorly or not at all. Some foods will affect my BG even into the next day. I can adjust my diet and see the healthy results. But, kudos, I can now eat an avocado, nuts, and other foods without calorie guilt. Note: blood glucose will be a little different as the CGM test the inter-cellular glucose, which comes secondary from the blood. I did go on a high fiber diet in the past and my weight melted off, but it did not correct my real issue of the metabolic syndrome. Thank you for such a well presented, well informed, and practical implementation for post-menopausal women. I also appreciate the high fiber food list. P.S. Why do I have to have a Rx from my doctor when I am paying out-of-pocket, and I am just applying a button on my arm?! Kinda silly.
Thanks for watching and leaving this thoughtful comment. I'm glad you found this interview helpful and are taking charge of your health with a continuous glucose monitor. I'm right there with you! Had to get a script from my PCP for a CGM too. It is silly but the extra effort to gain insights into my blood sugar and health are worth it to me.

I'm 55 years old woman, 2 years in menopause. I got belly fat when I entered menopause, but last 6 months I'm on carnivore diet, 2 meals in day and intermittent fasting 16:8 or 18:6 (it varies) and my belly fat is completly gone. I even don't exercise regularly, just walking my dog and doing some short pilates or light cardio few times a week at home.
She mentioned liposuction. When people get liposuction, they are more likely to get insulin resistance because they have less fat cells to fill. Their personal fat threshold is now lower. I’d love to be on your show to help educate your audience properly 💪
This is absolutely one of THE BEST EPISODES I've learned from. very informative it's broken down to easily understand. I love this! Thank you both for all you ! I will forward this information to others. Keep bringing more as I will continue to stay tuned and excited for more content. June
I am too happy I found this episode!!!! Such a gem 🙏🙏🙏🙏 Thank you sooooo much for taking time to do this. I am humbled by how it has already started impacting my life.
Walking is so good because it activates the Soleus muscle that is connected to the achilles tendon. Unlike 99% of the muscle the Soleus cannot store glucose so must get its glucose directly from the blood stream.
Wow! This information is amazing n you are both amazing for presenting this to us! I never enjoyed the caring company of any of my 2 grandmas when they were alive or much support from my parents for that matter, my own mom was distant to say the least. I grew up to have many and diverse, difficult issues and disorders. After 55 I'm still trying to figure things n " me" out. This kind of podcast helps me a lot. Thank you so much
The theory of calories is wrong, it originated in the 1800s from the analogy of a train burning coal to produce heat and movement. However, applying this concept to the human body is incorrect. Metabolism and health are not governed by the maths of calories. Drinking 1000 calories of coke has negative effects, while 1000 calories of broccoli (which is a lot) are beneficial. The body is not a closed system like a boiler, but interacts with the environment. Therefore, the calories of different foods cannot be compared equally. The emphasis on calories is fallacious; physics and mathematics do not determine metabolism or health.
Thank you Dhru for another great podcast! As always you ask such helpful questions of your guest and provide your own input, etc. regardless of any possible haterade...Lol! Awesome terminology! I was especially interested in the intermittent fasting part. Dr. Nolte provided alot of very uselful education on that topic! I still wonder though how to do IF with non-diabetes hypoglycemia that kicks in at around the 14 hour mark. Also how to handle stomach acid that comes up during IF.
This is brilliant. But I like to not focus on weight gain. It’s the body’s survival response. Not the root. Yes too much subcutaneous becomes inflammatory. But it’s the relationship with food, insulin resistance, hyperpalatable dopamine food, etc. We all agree. But someone could be 23 BMI ALL of that. A TOFI. Obesity is a symptom not a cause. But then does feed back to more insulin resistance etc. Fix the root fix the obesity. I frame it as my relationship to food. Fix that, fix everything.
Great podcast! Dr. Nolte articulates thoroughly, in an organized manner, & brings understanding as well as personal motivation to the table. Her genuine concern to address topics before they become serious health issues is eye opening and motivating. Thank you for this conversation.🙏🏽 Dhru next time please don’t interrupt so much!😂lol Only kidding, you have great questions👍
Thanks for sharing the article as so so many pro protein stories make me somewhat cynical especially given the environmental consequences of that concept
I am a certified health and wellness coach as well as holistic mindset, fitness, and anti aging coach. Literally, everything this doctor talks about here is what's on my channel ( very unprofessional but the info is there :) . The only difference is that I tell people to eat 1 gram of protein per their ideal lean body mass and a bit more fiber she recommends ( added over a period of time) . I talk about the mindset, self awareness and knowledge as the foundation of anyone's transformation on which people should add healthy habits over a period of time and not overnight. Our body doesn't like 180 changes. It will fight you back. Not to mention that our emotions and body are not ready for big leaps people try to make when they diet. America needs to UNdiet instead, which is a concept and a method of coaching I've developed and it's nice to see that this doctor is more than a doctor but a true coach. Most docs don't have the time to work on the mindset, emotions, building habits etc .
I struggle the most with the time of fasting. I workout around 5am-6am, so I should break fast after that to get those carbs in at the right time? I have been shooting for a 16/8 schedule.
Just before the 30min mark of the podcast Dr. Nolte mentions a research study comparing diets regarding muscle loss. Can someone please point me to a link for that study?
I’ve been on keto low carb or hardly no carb and still can’t loose any weight😢I’m gaining instead 😮any suggestions ? I was vegetarians for many years and started eating again with the keto diet
Are you in the menopausal or perimenopausal stage of your life? I've noticed I need to eat at least twice a day with at least 3g of leucine which is about 25-40g of protein and eat fat to satiation or at least increase it til hormones are optimized. I use a cronometer app. I also make sure I do zone 2 of at least an hour several times a week, weight lift, HIIT (I like heavy weight kettlebell swings at least 100 everyday). Optimize sleep
I’ve noticed I’ve needed to watch my fat intake and not overdo it otherwise I’ll gain weight. The longer I do keto the less I need to eat. Nutrient dense food has lots of calories. when I don’t exercise I’m careful to eat once or twice a day
Not meaning to be snarky here, but she sounds a bit clueless re: Ketogenic diet saying her client has been on a Ketogenic diet just eating vegetables....???
Dude, the constant interruptions from Ads specifically in your channel is, frankly annoying. Is it truly that necessary? Are you in it to help us or more for the money? I have never asked a youtube podcast this before, but, it was extra annoying on your page. This is a very good interview today. Thnx
😂😂😂😂Any fool can loose weight but only a genius can keep it off😂😂😂😂I have faste 18 hours a day, eat only two low carb or carnivore meals, avoid all sugars, artificial sweeteners and seed oils and fully water fast a few days every month and walk an hour or more every day or my weight will increase again😢😢😢😢I have gone from obese to overweight if I slip up do a 40 hours fast the next day. It’s brutal but it works.😢😢😢😢
Every time you put something in your mouth the insulin is automatically released. We should not have it released m ore than twice per day. Period. Have one or maximum two complete meals per day: no rice, no flour, no sugar products at all as they turn into fat.
she says fiber will cause stomach stretching...that's a bad thing not good.why doesn't she say that we do not need fiber instead of using it as a weight loss aid?sorry i will listen to the scientist first.people like her are repeating what the experts say without the true understanding.you were right Dhru, she has some thoughts.....
Dr. Nolte, thanks for the information. What are your thoughts on the approach taken by “mastering diabetes,” Cyrus Khambatta and Robby Barbaro? (They advocate a whole food, plant-based high carb, low-fat diet, with 70 to 80% of calories from carbohydrates and no more than 15% of calories from protein and fat.). For more info, you can go to their UA-cam channel (mastering diabetes)
I’m 124 pounds( athletic) vegan for 20y Last couple months started monitoring how much protein I consume and I find it very challenging to impossible to consume 120 G protein daily The most I reach is around 70-80 max I just can’t eat that much food I’ll have a protein sheik in the morning plus 2 meals/day. I don’t snack Any suggestions for increasing vegan protein ?I just can’t not imagine eating flesh or eggs it repulses me😂
She barely made an impact because I’ve tried so many methods of tracking nutrition back in the years when I cared about my overall health and longevity. It was too much added stress and fear on top of all the usual life stresses and media fearmongering. She totally lost me when she started talking about gratitude and raising vibrations. When I was doing a daily gratitude practice, I ended up even more aggravated and more focused on the things that bother me. Maybe one day we’ll learn to just let people be who they are and stop all this high-pressure constant growing and improving rhetoric.

Thanks so much! I'm glad that someone with your expertise and experience can validate my advice for long-term weight loss.
"I don’t care that the weight comes off....I care that the weight stays off!" 💯 .. it comes down to diet...you can't out run a bad diet!
Thanks for watching! Glad you agreed with that and hope you found this interview helpful!
Carnivore heals.
Dr Nolte... I am the owner of a behavioral health & wellness clinic and YOU are my New Hereo!!! Thank you for doing this interview!

Same. I am diabetic, take a .5 Ozempic and still have to pay out of pocket for because I don’t “inject” insulin. This is so crazy!

Ads are generated and placed only by UA-cam, not the person posting the video. Premium UA-cam is worth the cost to me as this eliminates ads.
I saw none….
