Hi Ross. You are so good my man. You've gone down to very passionate but very less confident and broke filmmaker like me.
I'm so glad that you touched all sorts of categories for struggling filmmakers like myself. Your suggestions are spot on and encouraged me to try one right now.

Ah James, I really appreciate it dude. I've got a great video coming out next week about confidence because it's something we all struggle with from time to time- so stick around 😊

Thank you very much. I'm trying to practice a lot with my new BMPCC4K as I hope to grow my videography work. Currently emailing local restaurants (in Melbourne, Aus).

You are absolutely right about investing in the education, it really is something that's overlooked. Camera equipment is indeed so much more tangible than something like an audiobook that can give you information, because at least with that equipment, you can see and feel it right in your hands, whereas with information, you have to work with the knowledge you have to obtain results.
I'm in an extremely privileged position where I can borrow very advanced camera equipment from my high school teacher for free, ridding me of any excuses pertaining to equipment (that is, if no students are using it; that's another problem). I am really intrigued in purchasing your Perspective Academy course way before I even consider any kind of equipment, because that knowledge has the power to let me eventually get the best equipment much earlier on, not years down the line. It's definitely a low cost risk I'm willing to take compared to buying even cheap equipment.
I'm taking a year off to change my program from Film to Electrical Engineering next year and to work on videography right now. I first have to finish my online videography course which has around two more months left, taking me until February, meaning I'll have from then until September to work on my business. I'm really curious about what things there is to know about the program, such as if it teaches you how to know what kind of business you should go after, or how creating content for them will actually convert into more sales.
I'd like to make it a goal to get at least 1 RCP client by September of next year, preferably 2. Given my situation, how tangible is it that I could achieve that goal from February to September 2025, not considering my work practices? I come in from Vancouver, Canada. Much love and respect! 💪

Hey dude, thank you so much for the comment. Great to hear you found the video useful and you're currently focused ok growing your business, who knows maybe it'll be so successful you won't go back to school!
2 RCPs is definitely possible. My biggest advice is just get out there and start speaking to businesses because sales is always a numbers game, although you can make the odds more favorable by using different strategies.
Inside the academy we have members from all over the world, Canada included. We focus on breaking down company structure and client acquisition. Covering various methods, systems, processes etc. That I use right now with my own production company. One of the most valuable things I'd say for you, is access to the live Q&A sessions that we hold. It's your opportunity to get your questions answered that are specific to your business level and the challanges you face! I hope that helps and hope to see you in the Academy soon - you won't regret it 🙏🏼🔥

@@RossWelch I sure hope it will be at that level by September 2025! I don't think I would mind pursuing an EE degree either way, though I hope that the workload won't be too hard to balance if I have many clients by then! I'm really excited by the possibilities, and I'm definitely into the idea of visiting businesses that pique my interest in person to make sales. I appreciate your response as it clears things up, and I'm looking forward to enrolling with you guys in February! ✨

How do you keep them from using your work if they don’t pay? Honor system? Watermark?

I love how you stated “What’s the normal price for the industry” what would be some tangible ways finding that out? Do I call a company who’s already in the business and question them their prices?

But you would not invest on small creators

Not if I had no money to invest 😂 I'd focus on getting clients and cresting my own content before outsourcing to other creators. I'd need to grow my own business first 🙌
