- I will be heading out on a 12 day trip to the country of Kenya soon! While I am gone I have to leave my wife with ALOT of work! Time to get prepared!

I thought about our labor division, and I realized a trend: My wife takes care of the living things (me, kids, pets, livestock) and I take care of the inanimate things (house, cars, tractors, equipment.)
The only exception is the garden and land. We both do that (although different jobs.)
That'll be a change, going from freezing Michigan to the equator in Kenya. I was deployed there after the blackhawk down tragedy. Enjoyed dealing with the folks there, very nice & I loved the way they'd greet you saying "jambo".
I am always the one doing the hard work such as splitting the wood 🪵, stacking it, moving it into the house. My wife likes to burn 🔥 it lol.

When im gone my mom and dad come over and they feed my livestock 1 bale of hay a day(with my tractor) then they take care of my other pets

My wife normally decides what she wants to do. I just try to do whatever is left 🤷🏻♂️
I take care of the animals and we split the wood together.

My wife and I would split chores somewhat evenly. If there was heavy lifting to do I, of course, did that. We have two children, daughter and son and they are all expected to help. Dangerous things - no. But they would be encouraged to help move split wood and similar chores.

Wow! Kenya! When I was in the Navy we were supposed to have a stop in Mombasa Kenya on my Mediterranean/Indian Ocean deployment. But alas... it was not to be. A certain tyrant in Libya needed put in his place... so we went back to the Med early. I have never forgiven Qaddafi for that... lol. Be safe on your journey and can't wait to see your video(s) when you get back! Thanks for sharing 🤠

Well in our household i actually do all the manual labour and diy as my partner sustained a bad injury to his left hand and cant lift heavy stuff or do intricate tasks with his fingers. I have worked in a diy store the last 5 years and lift heavy stuff about all day so that never bothers me and my dad taught me everything he knew about diy although i still call on him every now and then if a task needs 2 people or is very complicated. My partner and i share all chores like washing up and cleaning the house although i cook because he insists he isnt very good at it. If i have to diy like replacing all the parts in the toilet cistern the other day he is very willing to come hold things for me if i need another hand and will make me as many cups of tea as i need to see the job through. I dont think it matters at all who does what chores in a relationship so long as you are willing to share them fairly and offer help whenever its needed. Its more improtant to do what you love and are good at then being forced into a role that doesnt use the abilities you shine at.
