Thanks Roland you are and continue to be an inspiration to me and my fishing mind. I’m 73 and when I think it’s time to stop tourneys I watch you and get stoked again!!!!!
Thank you Roland. Thank you for showing us with each video the absolute pleasure you get from doing what you love. I watched you with my grandpa when i was a baby bass, watched you into my early adulthood, and now I am thankful for finding you here. Sharing your knowledge is much appreciated and priceless. I have yet to walk away from a video of yours without the reminder of enjoying your day and take time each day to have fun and enjoy the simple things.
You're doing a great job Roland. I'm loving every video. I enjoy watching Scott's, Lunkers and LFG's videos, but I learn way more watching your videos. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and keep up the good work!
I loved this video. I miss being home. Yea, most of South Florida is made of oolitic limestone. That's how that guy Ed Leedskalnin built the Coral Castle.. he quarried 5 to 30 ton lime stones to make the Castle Rock as he called it. Anyway.. its is very interesting to watch how salt water fish come into fresh water or brackish waters ways anyway..YEA..the Everglades, I don't know if it still considered the slowest moving river in the world, but I know it is about 60 miles wide and around 100 miles long.. one of the greatest places to fish. Thanks for sharing this Roland..You brought me some back in the day memories man..
Looking good! I like that hat too, and that heritage boat! I fished a few canals east of Orlando and didn’t catch any snook. Next time I’m down there I’m going to try, if they’re up that far.
I just found a whopper plopper a few days ago when I reeled in a cast, thought it was muck but i was dead wrong. I'm gonna try this top water thing that you make look soooo easy...thanks for the extra tips bud.
Hi Mr Martin. I have been using a senko to catch bass ever since watching your videos during covid. Last week I was retrieving the senko fast so it would be top water when passing a spot i normally get snagged at. While it was top water it was hit by a big old 4 pound bass.
Roland, you've inspired me to revisit my top water fishing. As a side topic, it seems as though the fish I foul hook the most are snook. I don't know if it's the way they hit a plug or what, but it's fairly frequent.
I’ve had a distaste for RM since the 1990’s especially after the helicopter lure debacle. But I am really enjoying these less produced cheaper videos. They are heads and tails above the TV series. It has a relaxed feel, less salesman presentation and is just real. I think RM shines with this “face to face” conversation style rather than the elitist produced salesman style.
Top water fishing is my all time favorite. Favorite baits are Zara Spook, Lunkerhunt leopard frog, and Doug Hanna’s 12” black snake. Like you said Roland, calm water, low light, warmer water, and semi clear to clear water are ideal. I always tend to catch bigger fish on top water. Great video!
Do you spoil a real with only floral carbon on a bait cast , or just use liters ? I have used Berkeley braid for a number of years. Is their a better braid out their ?
Thank you, really enjoy your videos except for the alligators, I would be freaked by them. Thanks again for sharing some of your expertise, its priceless.
@@heybeaches Thank you, but they are really scary looking, I'm in and from North MO. Not ever seen one where they live, I just always thought they were waiting to attack.
ok so yesterday at a lake the water temp was low 50s but i had a storm front moving in with overcast skies the bass hit nothing on top water no whopper plopper no top water had a pretty good wind going with lots of chop on the water i did catch bass off of a black worm and caught both trout and bass off a rooster tail. How would you fish a lake with wind over cast skies and water in the lower 50s? also i brought a bucket to take the trout home with , and it had a bubble machine and all the trout died even with a bubble box the outside air temp was 72 did they get too hot in the bucket and how would you transport rainbows so that the live?
Hey Roland! Do you have any tips on fishing the mouth of the Caloosahatchee? I'm going there in July and honestly I have no idea what I want to use other than D.O.A shrimp or jerkbaits/topwater.
Dear Sir, I am enquiring as to the efficiency of your home made WHITE senko. To me it should be sensational. In Australia we have many grubs that appear as predominantly white and the senko could be cut into 3 pieces to emulate these insects. Was white a colour that seemed to work on your fish ? David Brown
I think everyone who has ever caught a big fish top water , loves top water fishing. There is nothing better than landing a 5 or 6 pound bass with a hollow body frog
I'm wondering how at the beginning when the snook broke that hook off the spook bait how he was just like "Oh Well... I got a plug." Most commoners like me would be pretty disappointed in that because that's not a cheap bait by any stretch.
You have got your money's worth out of that devils horse. I have seen you repaint it replace the prop wile fishing out of a air boat and now breaking a hook on a snook..Ill beet you fix it again>
The pin broke the other day and the watch went into the lake! Luckily, it was shallow clear water and I got it back. That's the second time in 25 years that the band broke and it went into the lake!
Question... So I was watching this new young kid do a how to fish video. Mind you I grew up watching you. However this kid basically said unless you are using a Bait Caster Reel you will never catch the good fish. I honestly only have used a Spinning Reel. With all that being said he tried to give a crash course on how to use a Bait Casting Reel which I liked. But it was way short and my question is can you do a how to video for a Bait Caster. The Kid said good things but was so fast that I am a bit lost. Your videos are a bit slower and geared to more of my generation.
Just as a note my friend, the day you catch the biggest fish of your life, Its gonna be on what ever you are fishing with that day. Two things to share with you. One, NO, you don't need a bait caster to catch the good ones, but you do need to use right line, rod, and reeling speed depending on what you are doing, that is not to say using the correct lure and colour. And two, the biggest fish I have ever caught was a Goliath Grouper with a 160 lbs mono on a hand line and YoYo, 270 lbs while living in Florida back in the 80s.. Now as for using the bait caster. I am sure Mr Martin will make a video that will be worth watching, but wanted to share this experience with you, because a lot of folks out there will say many things and all to their own opinions. Just like some folks like using certain brands, certain types of line, or even certain knots for tying hooks, they will express only their experience. With that note, if all you have ever used is spinning tackle, there is nothing wrong with that at all. .some of the biggest fish on the planet have been caught on what we don't even imagine.. the US Record Bass of 22lbs and 4oz was caught in 1932 by a fisherman fishing a fintail shinner and he wasn't even trying to catch the biggest fish.. he was out getting dinner.. LoL..Good luck my friend and Tight Lines
I found that snook are the closest thing to freshwater largemouth I've ever seen. The mouth is exactly the same, in fact you can lip them just like a bass, and use the exact same techniques, too. I used a Super Fluke in white, weightless, and totally MURDERED them on spinning tackle. I'm told that the meat is DELICIOUS too, but unfortunately they have a law that restricts when you can actually take one, so I'll never know:(
I love watching scott and his dad fishing. But i also know anything they say about fishing gear is a bunch of crap. Everything they do is for money. I mean they are promoting cheap Chinese wholesale crap with the favorite brand.
Anyone else binge watching? Good stuff.
yup
Yep.
Seeing Roland's passion for fishing, at his age and after everything he's done, is a real inspiration. Love this channel.
Got me to fall back in love with fishing after a heart surgery and losing my house to a fire,,
I totally agree.
Whatever Roland talks about, he makes it interesting and exciting. I hope he keeps on going forever . He is a treasure.
I could watch this man all day. Matter of fact been watching him since I was a teenager. Thank you
Thanks Roland you are and continue to be an inspiration to me and my fishing mind. I’m 73 and when I think it’s time to stop tourneys I watch you and get stoked again!!!!!

Nice seeing you still on the water sharing your fishing knowledge Roland! Keep the videos coming Sir!!
Loved watching you when I was younger and I’m thrilled to find your UA-cam channel. Thanks for the great tips.
Nothing like a devil horse. I’m 63 and been fishing with those since I was 7 or 8 so it’s definitely a classic
Great stuff RM--thanks so much for posting these videos twice per week!

Roland dropping knowledge right and left that was a really good deal!
You're doing a great job Roland. I'm loving every video. I enjoy watching Scott's, Lunkers and LFG's videos, but I learn way more watching your videos. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and keep up the good work!
Roland is so good that he doesnt need nothing but hook nubs on his lures
When the master talks, I listen. Thanks. Take it easy, sensei.

Sounds like you have a great system
Roland, whatever you endorse we will buy. Simple as that :)
How about a gator hunt video? Keep on fishing Roland!
Hay Roland you are the man what was your set up for that day
Do you spoil a real with only floral carbon on a bait cast , or just use liters ? I have used Berkeley braid for a number of years. Is their a better braid out their ?
Use Mono main for most Topwater
Braid works great too
Power pro and Berkley Fireline is great Braid imo
I have to know what canal this is
I'll be dad gone. Love Roland
YOU ARE THE MAN
Thank you, really enjoy your videos except for the alligators, I would be freaked by them. Thanks again for sharing some of your expertise, its priceless.
I see them everytime I go lol if you don't mess with them, they tend to just chill.

Water temps in the low 50's makes everything tough and eliminates some patterns like topwater!
@@RolandMartinOutdoors thx Roland you have good answers for all my questions BTW I bought me a devils horse lol
Roland, Do you still throw the Spit n image topwater any??
Good stuff Roland...I pond fish and notice the bass jumping sometimes. What sort of lure should I use when the bass are jumping?
Are you sure that the jumping fish are bass! Bass jump very little but chase minnows and swirl! Use a topwater!
Devils Horse ;)
Can someone please plant some snook in Oregon? Thanks!
Hey Roland! Do you have any tips on fishing the mouth of the Caloosahatchee? I'm going there in July and honestly I have no idea what I want to use other than D.O.A shrimp or jerkbaits/topwater.
Call a couple of local guides for I'm not very familiar with that water
Anyone know what kind of boat he’s using in this video?
This is my Tracker Heritage

What part of the Everglades you in?
Sorry but I promised my fishin buddy that I wouldn't tell anyone about his fishing spot
Hey son, G.O.A.T.
What rod are you using for the devil horse
I use a 6 1/2 foot medium action by Favorite rods
Those Oscars can get mean! My mother n law used to have some in a huge fish tank.

nice white gold sub

All we need now is Bill Dance riding a bicycle across the top of the water
It gets cold enough in Memphis but not in south Florida

Look at that gator that must be annoying haha
how can there possibly be any dislikes on his videos??????
