Hey, I just reside in the loveable city of Lyon on yesterday. I just fell in love with the city and its people and culture. I want experience with the people who are interested in exploring France.
I m moving to france due to work . LYon , but my kids dont speak french . Are government schools which teach french are good ? My kids are 5 and 8 . I am little worried wether they will assimilate?
@@avis1983 hi! You can find bi lingual schools pretty easily. For youngsters, some schools -non bi-lingual- even have classes especially for kids newly arrived here to teach them French. At 5 and 8 they will learn very fast don’t worry 🌹. My son -16- has always been in private schools. They are under government “rules” too anyway… they are not that expensive as, usually, you pay according to what you’re earning… no uniform required. I hope it helps… you can ask me whatever you want. Oh, in Lyon there’s a International highschool as well - your children are too young but maybe for later…-
I'm moving to Lyon in September to study at INSA for 5 months, I'm very excited and cannot wait!! I've visited Lyon 3 or 4 times in the past and I love the city. Do you have any advice for a younger person or student moving to Lyon?
Try to make as many friends as you can, and try to find a schedule of all the free events held around the city. Also, there are tons of different types of food to try in Lyon. If you get a chance, split the cost of renting one of the small boats in Confluence with some friends. There's also tons of nightlife, especially next to the rivers.
Vieux Lyon, Croix-Rousse, Parc De La Tête d'Or. I like those three, but depends what you're into. If you're looking for anything in specific, let me know. Have fun.
I am Mexican, from Juarez Mexico, i live in The Netherlands, i plan to move to France in the future, how is Lyon in terms of security, and work opportunities for Software Engineers
Hello Edgar. Hector here. I'm a tech startup founder from Houston and grew up in El Paso! I'm headed to Lyon for October and November. I'm super excited. Where are you now?
Thanks Neil! I appreciate your kind comment. I'm glad you had a great time here. Yes, mini Paris without the people. Great way to describe it. I appreciate your positivity. Have an awesome day.
LoL yeah, you definatly have a So Cal hipster accent 😅👍 Love those hills in the intro. Hows the economy there in Lyon? It's my number 3 spot I'm thinking, thou heard it's more expensive than toulouse & Rennes.
Hello, great video! I’m visiting Lyon in the next three years and I wanted to know, how is the investment culture there? Do most of people invest or have a basic knowledge about personal finances?
I am also considering a move to Lyon. I would love to know more about the cost of apartment rentals and the cost of living, in general! It seems to be about half of the cost of living in the US - is that close?
Subscribed as soon as you mentioned how it was a challenge posting this video because you like your privacy - I can totally relate! Looking forward to listening about how you made the decision to move for love, all while trying to balance career progression at the same time. In my personal life I’ve only heard mostly of women moving for love and their male partners are the ones with their career as an anchor. I’m considering moving for love too and would love to hear about how one can look out for and manage the risks to their career associated with such a big decision.
Please go make your movies at "la guillotière" "la duchère", or randomly in "le parc de la tête d'or", "rue de la république" (central walking boulevard). And as the visitors may arrive by train, please film the train stations (Partdieu and Perrache). Show them how beautiful, quite and safe or city has become over the last 10 years ! We'll see who may laugh after that. Pure Fairytale. Lyon is sad and overcrowded but, hey, just let them come and see by themselves.
Well, I’m from the country side of Lyon and work everyday there, and the fantastic pictures you are showing of the city are empty of people.... I don’t know how and when you got these pictures (saturday morning maybe :)) but this is far from reality. The city is actually over crowded, dirty and not safe. Maybe your love turned you blind.....
🤣 I love your comment. Actually, I try to take videos at random times, but typically it will be morning or sun down. As far as your opinion about it being unsafe, I recommend living in different countries, Lyon is far from dangerous and dirty as other places I've visited in Europe, South America, North America, or Asia. Not sure why you feel that way, but you must have your own reasons. Thank you for commenting. I sincerely appreciate it and wish you a wonderful day.
@@geophilosopher5688 I actually lived abroad in many other countries (I just don’t make it a business). I’ve been living in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Marrocco, Congo, Taiwan,... travelled a lot (the list would be way too long) and beeing a bit older than you (as I can tell from your video) I assume having a bit more experience. So I actually assure the viewers of your videos that you just sell a dream. Lyon has a beautifull history, some nice spots,... but living there is actually really not at all what you describe. But as you said,... you must have your own reasons..... right?
@@geophilosopher5688 you probably heard about the Guillotière or "Place Dupont" , I live here and I had friends that been assaulted, robbed, and even one of them that nearly got stabbed. The shop are threatened by local "gang" to pay money or else they just either damage the shop in group or just crowd it discouraging everyone to go in. The shops here registered up to a 60% profit lost in a few month because of the huge raise in criminality. If you don't count suburb (that are pretty much part of Lyon) and I assure you that some are DANGEROUS, Guillotière is the most dangerous place in the town and it's in the damn middle of the city. So yeah there is some downside to Lyon, but I live here since I was born and I love it!
