Hmmm.... a lot of good info here. Unfortunately I belong to the group of people without a degree. I started working directly out of high school in various entertainment and non-entertainment jobs, currently I work in entertainment in Japan. It seems Korea is very strict about degrees which is too bad for me :(
yeah basically if you weren't privileged to go to a formal college, its a whole mountain to climb to be accepted. I am trying right now as a freelance graphic designer, and its looking basically impossible for me to not be labeled as just a tourist.
This helped me alot! Im going to Korea for a year as a student for my senior year, and i am an International Affairs major. Im curious on what my options are there for intership and work opportunities but it seems there isnt much for what i major for.
Hey, since we have pretty much the same major - It was actually a lot harder than I thought to do something related to my degree (especially since it was supposed to match up with my job title!). I found that most of the available jobs were in non-profits or research institutions, but those positions required Masters degrees and a high level of Korean. Grad school would also be a good way to make connections and network, and many programs offer scholarships. Good luck!
:DISPURS Thanks for the info! yeah i plan in getting my masters although not in SK, however since ill be there for a year studying im hoping i can get a good level of Korean down. Also my focus within my major is NGOs so non profits seems to be my fit haha but im still up in the air to what is available to be 😭
I am so glad you made a video like this. I am planning to study a semester in Seoul and I am also thinking about searching for an internship. I am looking forward to part two because I am especially interested in the entertainment industry cause of my major which is media studies
Thanks Jina! This really opened me up to many insights that i have never heard of ! I so looking forward to try and work in korea once i finish school! Please make more videos like this ! Have a great day !
This was the most helpful video about jobs for foreigners I've ever seen thank u soooo much! Also when she was talking about English teachers' salaries did she mean (roughly) 2,400 dollars a year?
Thank you very much for this video Jina X). It´s really helpful to me. I didn´t know that Korea is already opening up to work and travel visa. I thought that´s more a western country thing. But that´s really cool because it also would give me a chance to experience the work culture of Korea. Really awesome and a lot of helpful informations :). THaaaaaanksss.
This video was exactly what I needed, I'm coming to Korea again in September and I'm hoping to work while I'm there. I miss you cuties, too bad we didn't hang out the last time I was in Seoul!
Hey guys love the video. But the white font over your black and white shirts, and the type of font, is *very* difficult to read. Something to perhaps keep in mind for future videos.
Hi Jessica. I'm studying journalism in the UK and I was wondering if you could give me more information please. I'm interested in broadcasting (filming, editing, voice overs), media and PR. Is there a market for non-Korean speakers? And with this kind of degree is there any chance of working for entertainment companies? (I'm considering all Asia) 😂 Thank you so much. If you find it too long to answer here I can leave you my email. Thanks again.
Am doing my master in sociology and m also doing job very different from my major, Am not American but my country has lots of US company so working in one of the Us company. Looks like it would be difficult to get job in Korea.
Hi Jessica! You had a lot of hardships but you found the way! I really admire your effort. I was wondering what are the chances to find a job when you do not know any korean? I am non-native English speaker so I understand I can’t apply for English-teaching jobs. I do however have a degree from the UK and have work experience over 1 year in regulatory affairs. Thank you!
thank you so much for this video. Id love to come to Korea but teaching is not really for me, I have a degree in creative multimedia but no experience, would I be able to find something in my field? My Korean is not that good also.
So to break it down...you work through lunch time and you don’t get overtime pay when you work overtime. You can be sued for anything you say even if factual and be found as “libel”. There are no KPOP stars to date when and if your going “just”. to date one. 🤦🏻♀️🔍😯😉☝🏽🤦🏻♀️ This means you will work your A__ off...so change your motives if you just want a KPOP man. Jina, I love ❤️ your complete honesty about the employment structure in your country. My daughter is a Manager for a well known Retail Company and it’s difficult to find stable coworkers. I myself managed large numbers of employees and it’s hard 15 years ago to find dedication and loyalty. I believe a tough working environment would be a great learning process for any young person regardless if their fluent in Korean or not.
Hi..do you have an idea of how possible is it for me to get a job if i would go to korea and study korean for one year.. After I finish the language study, would it be possible for me to apply to companies and get hired?
Hi~ So I’m studying abroad in Korea for a long time & I wanted to figure out how to get a job and make some extra money since living off of savings with no income for so long will be SO hard lol. In order to work and make money legally you need a work visa? You can’t get a job with a student visa?
Hey I was wondering how long it took you to learn and speak Korean, and how old were you when you went to Korea. I'm 13 and I was hoping one day in the future I could move to Korea and work there
ShadowAussie101 i replied late I’m sorry. But is very unlikely. There are many Koreans applying for the job, they have a degree, speak fluent korean, so they most likely will hire him. But don’t loose hope! There could be jobs who do!
Hi Jina! I thought this video was really informative & I loved the concept :) I'd like to see similar videos in the future about finding jobs in korea, korean work culture, etc. The person you interviewed though was soft-spoken and a bit boring to listen to (sorry~), compared to your bubbly and fun personality ._. I still love your videos though and look forward to the next one
ahhhh i'm sorry to Jessica :( I think some people are more natural on camera/public speaking than others--but she's more talented in writing and the online magazine you linked looked really cool ^_^ but yes! can't wait! :)
I wish I could work in Korea but I doubt I'd get a job there because I don't have a bachelors degree. It's not that I don't do anything but, well, you can't compare that to a bachelors degree.
It's hard because so many people have degrees, but not impossible! If your Korean is upper intermediate/advanced, check the JobKorea or Saramin websites.
I speak fluent English, would I be able to teach the language in Korea? or is that exclusive for native English speakers? Just wondering. Also, are Koreans interested in learning Spanish?
카미 Cami i was also interested in teaching english because i am fluent, but they want just natives (u could teach it privately though, but that's not a secure job in my opinion)
Technically you could find a job, but you would have a problem getting an English teaching visa (so it would be illegal). There are jobs for other languages though (Spanish is a big one at the moment) so definitely look around.
:DISPURS To teach English do you need an associates or bachelors degree ? I studied in the medical field as a Medical Administrative Assistant and want to move to work in South Korea but I’m not sure what employment opportunities I would have.
She has beautiful eyes ! Thank u for the video it was really interesting and your "making videos skills" have improved a lot ! :)

I started working directly out of high school in various entertainment and non-entertainment jobs, currently I work in entertainment in Japan. It seems Korea is very strict about degrees which is too bad for me :(
Was it easy to find a job in japan?
If you worked 5 years in a specific field, it may be eligible for an E7 visa, but I strongly suggest you study Korean :)
What do you do in Japan in relation to the entertainment industry Aaron?
yeah basically if you weren't privileged to go to a formal college, its a whole mountain to climb to be accepted. I am trying right now as a freelance graphic designer, and its looking basically impossible for me to not be labeled as just a tourist.
How did you get the job?
This video is so helpful and I haven't seen anything this thorough like it before, thank you Jina! Also, Jessica's eyes are so stunning!

Thanks Jina! This really opened me up to many insights that i have never heard of ! I so looking forward to try and work in korea once i finish school! Please make more videos like this !
Have a great day !
