Great video, helped me a lot to understand the machine. My problem is that the part you show @9:21 doesn't move on my machine with the cassette not ejected.

Great video! What lube do you recommend for mechanical parts?

Hi OVS, Great and straight forward video!! I got one of this that looks clean and looks has been managed with care. I want to restore as much as I can, having very limited access to parts. I will appreciate if you can give me some directions on these: 1) It is a VO-9600H and I do not know what the "H" stands for, it has a couple of switches int the back that I assume they can be used for setting NTSC o PAL and low or high resolution, am I right? 2) Image frames are very stable but color does not. Is it just matter of adjustments? Belt replacement? both? Many thanks in advance for your help!

    Great video!
I am refurbishing a VO-9600 right now, I just changed the upper drum, all of the belts and tire, lubed everything you mentioned in the video.
I have not changed out the pinch roller yet and it looks a little glossy so I know I need to change it. The only issue I am having with the machine right not is that when I scan search using the wheel, in fast forward search mode, the tape is not taken up as quickly as it is fed out and begins to slack and bunch up.
It would seem to me that the take up reel is not winding the tape as fast as the pinch roller is feeding it out.
As mentioned, I replaced the tire, all of the belts, I actually replaced the actual main drive motor and clutch tire belt.
    Any suggestions?

The Capstan Motor does not drag the tape around the machine. The loading motor does that. You make no mention of electrical or mechanical alignment following Upper Drum or Scanner replacement.

Hey amazing videos you’re doing here! I have a 7600, looks very similar, i started it up after a long break and it made a slight squeal and wouldn’t budge after I stopped the tape. I can’t eject or anything. I’ve opened it up and it looks beautiful, it’s not like other things I’ve worked on where you can eyeball the dis function. What would you suggest I do? I still have a tape stick in there

Just realized that I put in a an Ampex 197 that is sticky and won’t come out. Considering cutting it, but I will wait for your reply for a bit. Thanks!

I know that you can play back SP tapes on non-SP machines, but do SP machines play back non-SP tapes?

The VO-9000P can play in addition to SP also low and high-bands
