You see, the n-word wasn't a taboo back then in Finnish. The show was not meant to be racist, but criticize behind the scenes politics and here even they ridicule racists
I feel like the number one thing that all English speaking people doing these reaction videos about Kummeli are missing the fact that it's not the prime minister who is the bad politician here. He's just the face of the government and it's Pena who is coming up with these decisions and saying all these stupid comments. The PM is just such a honest guy not to repeat all of that.
And that's not even the only thing they don't understand.
I thought that this sketch is about an incompetent prime minister who doesn't really understand anything, and the decisions themselves are made by the prime minister's special assistants. However, the prime minister accidentally slips the real side of things. :)

@@bocatampereThose are the only parties in finland who are currently capable of making hard decisions to make a difference in the terrible financial situation. They have been in charge for just over half a year with bad leftovers from last government, I wouldnt blame them yet.
@@Ism0Lait3laExactly. Their situation is really difficult. Thanks to the last government's sometimes pretty terrible financial decisions there's just nothing else they can really do. It's either becoming the next Greece of EU or improving the financial situation by cutting costs. It's unfortunate, but there's not really anything else that could be done. If only Marin's government had been a bit more sparing, I think we'd be pretty well off right now.

Kummeli was one of the most popular comedy shows in finland. It gets fairly regular reruns of yle (finnish public broadcasting sevice). None of it is cencored, except for the "Aziz combat fighter" sketches being cut, due to a request by the creators of the show.
Now you've got me intrigued. Is there an uncut version available somewhere?
It's about Finnish cabinet politics, decisions made behind closed doors where public cant see, and prime minister Jurmu, unlike politicians, being stupid honest and specific about what was said and who said it, behind those closed doors.

They do actually still show old Kummeli episodes from the 90s on TV. Yle shows the episodes, but of course some of the sketches have been cut out due to not having aged quite so well. For example "Aziz The Combat Fighter" sketches which make fun of jihadist terrorists are no longer shown on the episodes
So much good humor has been sacrificed on the altar of political correctness 😢

In northen Finland is very common To say it still today. And its not a racial slur for them. It is just the way they have being taught.

Finnish traditinally watch lot of British tv, so naturally there is similarities. Kummeli dudes have watch lot of Monthy Python and other British comedy classics in their youth etc...
n-word at that time in Finland was a bad word but nowhere near as bad as it is now in the social media age. The joke of course is not a problem, the characters are awful and that is the idea. Now it sounds completely different since we are censoring ourselves more and being more sensitive.. which has good and bad things. It stops offensive comedy being effective but it also stops the actual racists using "its just a joke bro" defense. So... don't blame "cancel culture", blame those that exploit our civility and our social norms to spread hate.
UA-cam might seem "uber woke" filtering but that is not because of the people who use the terms correctly. For ex. terms related to self-harm are self-censored, alternate ways are used to convey the message but what that does is that the terms we use, are numerous. There are a lot of ways to convey that message and thus it is not trending word, it is not popular search term. It is diffused in the data, and when we use double meanings... It takes good AI to realize that... So, again: not uber woke but the aholes that exploit those words are the reason. Go blame them, show that you will not take it and maybe we could return back to normal, after all communication should be totally open and free. It can't be unless the society really does something about the aholes. At the moment, lot of them rake in millions... Our teens are watching some awful garbage.

Marins governement too 39,5 billions more debt. 26 billions went to covid and el supports. 13,5 billion to the other purposes in four years. Now we have Orpos governement and without any corona and el support they managed to take 13 billion more debt in this year alone 😂 " Kykypuolue"😅 Since UMTS deals I have laughed that party and it is behind every bigger catastrof against our state owned businesses.
