I totally agree with you, I feel bad that roles are being given to the dead over people struggling to break into the film industry. If they wanted a well known character/android from the Alien franchise they should have asked Michael Fassbender
Everything that you stated was very well said and said with purpose. I completely agree with your points. And props to you for addressing the very possible nuances of this topic.
I totally agree with you. I'm an Artist and am hoping to become an Actor/Voice-Actor & Writer/Director and when l look at something that is written by ai or acted/voice-acted by ai or drawn by ai i can't look at it and find it interesting, I strongly believe that Ai is an insult to life itself. It should be used for manuel-labors not creative labors. Like you said (and i thought i was the only one who thought it) Ai has no place in Filmmaking or Art
We definitely aren't alone! I see more people speaking out against it thankfully but its a tough battle when studios like Lionsgate and Blumhouse support it. We just have to be vocal and stand up against it when we can. Hopefully AI phases itself out and we recognize that it has no value in art. Hope your art/acting/filmmaking career takes off and hope to see one of your movies on the big screen one day!
yeah. i loved romulus but that part really made me unsettled and took me out of the film. they could have easily made rook another android model. an unknown actor wouldn’t have asked for much. ian was only used for nostalgia bait.
The part of your vlog where you pose the open ended question "is this ever okay?" (as in, to use Ai, to recreate an actor) you gave a few examples where you seemed to think it was, okay. You didn't seemed thrilled about it but could appreciate some of it's merits. for me though, when talking about de-aging older actors, it's just flat out AMAZING! When I saw the new Indiana Jones movie, i was stoked to see Harrison Ford (the real Harrison ford) at his best and in his prime again with the aid of deepfake Ai. as you said, were here for a finite time so to use tech to get a few more stellar performances, out of actors, who won't be here much longer, absolutely needs to be done as often as possible. It was amazing to see the original looking youthful Harrison Ford in the new film but a total bummer when the old Harrison ford came on screen. seeing him try to pulloff youthful actions and action moves was, cringe. The should have just let him act behind the CGI Ai for the entire film. Had they gone that route the film would have been not just great but, amazing! I would crap my pants to see, the young, REAL De Niro and Joe Pesci do another gangster performance cause those dudes, are old, and will be gone, before you know it. The film industry need to seriously move on this yesterday! especially with epic actors like Nicholson and Al Pacino (omg, Scarface 2! are you kidding me, holy crap that would be awesome) while they're still alive and able to still do great facial and vocal performances. I really hope they see that before it's too late. So far though, it don't look good. So far they're mostly using the tech in damaging and lame ways.
That was strange, but I could get past it, but I didn't realize he was deceased, I thought they had just made him look young. Then afterward, when I found out, that's when I felt more unsettled by it. But honestly, the final alien/human hybrid is what ruined the movie for me.
AI Ash in Romulus serves a really good purpose comparing to AI David, Ash tells us he engineered offspring strain to help human colonists against disease and environment, Kay injected AI Ashes strain that mutated her baby
We should be very concerned about the morality in the art that we consume. I know it may not seem like a big deal, but when you give large corporations and inch, they don't just take a mile, they take a whole highway worth of leeway.
I will never understand the blind praise im hearing for Romulus. Everyone is praising Romulus for exact same issues that they constantly trash Prometheus and Covenant. The characters are flat and forgettable. The writing for them is nonexistent most of the time. The acting is completely dispassionate... or talentless, however you want to look at it. The fan service is completely inappropriate for a serious Alien film. Not even Resurrection stooped so low as to directly quote better, better movies in the franchise. As a fan, the "Get away from her you b****" line was completely insulting. How or why would they try to cheapen Ripleys glorious moment in Aliens?? This is how i rank the franchise: Aliens Alien Prometheus Alien Covenant Alien Resurrection AVP Alien Romulus Alien 3 AVP: Requiem
What rubbish Film making will be 90% AI within some decades, the Ian Holm part of Romulus was brilliant and a great hommage to Ian Holm. I chuckle at the creatives who for the most part like 99% churn out generic "art" think they somehow should be more protected from technology than truck drivers and lawyers. AI will strip the big studios and the woke of their influence power and give the power to everyone. A kid in the future will make a great movie using AI effects, actors, music and become the new spielberg.

thanks so much for the kind words! It's a sensitive subject but one we felt was worth addressing in a constructive manner.

sadly have to agree. Wish they would've gone a different route.

If all androids of the same model look the same it's pretty lucky the crew on the nostromo hadn't seen this model yet 😅
Michael Keaton will always be Batman.
if the CGI takes you out of the film, it shouldn't be used. IDC about the moral aspect of it, and neither does the entertainment-consumer collective.

Who made you the barometer of morality of all mankind?

Not really AI as Tarken was 3D masking and tracking.
The film was pure garbage, took all the other ones put them in a blender and threw it all up on the screen.
