@@makkietakkie Daniel did a interview recently. He seems more focused on his solo music and it sounded like he was no longer interested in working with grizzly bear because it was no longer a creatively conducive environment. There may or may not have been forces within the band that wanted to recapture past successes you kind of retread old ground which he wasn't really interested in doing. I believe if you search "Daniel Rosen strange lots" you'll find an hour long interview
The closest I can recommend is the new soundtrack Daniel and Christopher made for the A24 movie "Past Lives". It sounds surreal, and has such nice instrumentals. It beckons to Pet Sounds vibes but more electric.
It's called final round from what i've seen. It's not released on anything and actually parts of it can be heard in their later stuff and on the latest department of eagles release.
I love this band, to me they're the greatest band going today, nobody even comes close. I grew up in NYC and I always laugh when I see people showing parts of NYC that look like shit, dilapidated as if the person they are focusing on lives in poverty. It doesn't matter what it looks like, you still got to be a fucking millionaire to live there now unless you want to work 24 hours a day just to pay rent, it don't matter how bad the neighborhood looks, you will be a slave to the landlord. It use to be a cool city, I use to pay $300 bucks a month for my first apartment in 1983 then mid 1990s, something happened, I don't know what, but every asshole and every brat of every fucking asshole had to live here and it just drove housing costs through the roof so I moved. My brother still lives there, he pays $2,700 a month for a one bedroom. He's gay and lives on W.48th with his husband and they consider that rent a deal, it's just absolutely insane to me, you could pay off a mortgage with that money
Can anyone tell me the song that begins at 3:21? I'm afraid that I will be forever searching for this song since google doesn't know any song by Grizzly Bear with the lyrics "....Final Round.." in which I hear Daniel singing
Absolutely!! I've always described them as a blend of Radiohead, Fleet Foxes and the Beatles... but Beach Boys fit in there nicely too. All of these bands - Fleet Foxes, Beatles, Beach Boys and Grizzly Bear (not so much Radiohead) - are driven by lush harmonies.
chris bear is such a good drummer imo
One of my favorites, I think his best performances are on while you wait and aquarian
@@lifeisdead01 he RIPS on that new Fleet Foxes album too
@@chrilborn4138 haven't heard it yet, will do so later today. Just listened to Daniel's new album, he went insane on unpeopled space
@@chrilborn4138 whoa when did he play with fleet foxes??
It's not even funny how much I love this band
I will never forget this interview.
What a gem this is. I genuinely wonder if GB will ever release another album again.
Same, considering the recent "rumours" of Ed having quit the band :(

@@greenvelvet it’s too bad the vibes between Ed and what seems like the rest of the band are at odds. But Daniel Rossen’s new material is golden
Dan said it probably won’t happen, but one can always hope. I agree his solo stuff is amazing though.

Dan's little interlude progression there sounds a lot like Little Brother
“Don’t get all bearly guys, haha”
“👁👄👁 ,👁👄👁,👁👄👁”
Daniel Rossen is a straight up musical genius!
I don't think that's any reason to cry, sounds like an extremely high compliment actually.

I LOVE GRIZZLY BEAR!!!!!!!!
Knife. It's off Yellow House and easily the closest the GB gets to pop on the whole album, if not in their whole discography.
Two weeks is definitely their poppiest song
this is now my favourite video on youtube
Damn, back when Williamsburg wasn't ironically cool. It's like time traveling
Love this band

Housing shouldn't be business
0:50 this cover of knfie is so amazing ;)
MrJOKER06 as it is called
yeah I I thought i noticed that little chordal bit Daniel plays when everyone else rests for a bar or so. I think its from little brother???
didn't really get to see that much of their practice space...
It's an unreleased track called Final Round!
here you go: watch?v=UjT4nh76QQU
because thats really progressing music
depending on era, that could be said about a LOT of bands now.
Rossen never talks in interviews and it pisses me off
He's deaf, doesn't hear the questions
can't wait for shileds!!!!!!
Can anyone tell me the song that begins at 3:21? I'm afraid that I will be forever searching for this song since google doesn't know any song by Grizzly Bear with the lyrics "....Final Round.." in which I hear Daniel singing
DigitalFlapper she us simply called "Final round" :)
1:41
what movie do they mention in the beginning? I can't understand, something like city of astronauts??
city of lost children!!!
City of Lost Children
4:09 the interviewer is totally checking Ed out...
What's the name of the songs they perform at the beginning and end?
Then so it is.
Anyone knows what song r they playing at 4:10?
Damm, i cannot recognise it xD
Maybe is an unreleased song?
***** hey man, it is called Final Round!
is there some released version of knife in this from???
just because of the harmonies?
What are they playing at 4:10
I know I'm about to make some hipster cry, but they sound exactly like a meloncholic Beach Boys.
The mid 00s was beach boys' revival peak

wow, you've really blown everyone's minds with that astute and disconcerting revelation. listening to grizzly bear will never be the same now :(
i mean shields
The Knife.
What's the name of the song they perform at the end?
Jobin McGooch final round
They aren't Julliard grads.
It's from 2007, buddy.
What is the opening song?
soccerstian knife by them
thanks ;)
CITY OF LOST FUCKING CHILDREN
You know, you can sound similar to other artists without using the same lyrical themes.
except their not singing about surfing and high school chicks. much more substance in a grizzly bear album compared to BB album
Us hipsters love Beach Boys ;)
"They don't have heat in Brooklyn anymore" ..... (we'll pretend he never said that.)
He was trying to be humorous, calm down batman.
only a hipster would describe something as melancholic, hipster.
Their sound: Fart.
fail band XD cant do better, dont care
