A very fascinating video so enjoyable, thankyou Joy
I get a kick out of your videos and this one was no exception. You are so funny and love watching you teach. I have a scan 'n cut I got when I bought my 1st Brother Dream machine and never really used it. Now you have inspired me to get it down from the attic. Keep up your enthusiasm! This heart quilt came out beautiful!

Thank you Joy for showing us how to quickly center those hearts! Simple and fast. Light bulb moment! Bobbin thread tension! I will have to check my bobbin tension when I am quilting. I never considered that my bobbin tension could be an issue. I know you were not talking about quilting, but tension is tension. Thanks Joy. Your "Here's My Heart" quilt top is gorgeous! Thank you for sharings your gifts, talents and joy with us Joy💖
Great explanation and I love your color choices and placement on the quilt.

You are amazing, Joy! So much talent. I really enjoy your tutorials. I wish I had the patience to learn the scan and cut. I still haven’t been able to master my Cricut

Your quilt top is beautiful. Thanks for sharing all the scan n cut techniques. I have one that I don’t use enough. I need to master the Scan n Cut in 2022!!!
Stunning!!!!!! This quilt , the detail and the teaching you are wonderful and inspiring dear Joy 🌺❤️
You are an absolute delight! I totally enjoyed your video from beginning to end! I just bought my Scan & Cut, but I haven't even set it up yet. Now I can't wait to do my own heart quilt, it is so cute and i love love love those beautiful fabrics!
Ms. Joy, you put a smile on my face today. I am so happy I ran across your video! May your blessings continue to engulf you. As you spread joy and your awesome spirit! Peace and Blessings.
How smart!
I am right there with you on ultra sensitive skin. It took me a few years to come up with a regimen that works, and I have wipes, unscented, in every bathroom, and my travel bag.
very cute
Thank you for this video very helpful..It was a long video, but all necessary information.I enjoyed this wish you had in person classes.
Thank you for taking the time to show, using fabric. This maybe another “hobby “ I may try…lol. I am sure my husband will not mind🤣.
Happy Anniversary to a beautiful couple!!! This video was very interesting, most informative & highly entertaining. you are the best! Don't have a scan n cut but use the old method of trace, copy etc. Making a large maple leaf . . . guess you know where I am going with this . . . . . Thank you for bringing some fun to this crazy period in our history.
I really enjoyed watching this video, I don’t have a scan and cut but I really did understand everything, well nearly, that you were explaining. What a beautiful quilt and I agree with you that the zig zag looks so much better than blanket stitch. Joy you should have been a teacher, you explain everything in such great detail. Great stuff.
Another 2 successes, very informative video and another lovely quilt Joy. Thank you for sharing your skills I just love to watch and listen, you explain every thing so well.
Joy you are the light in my life , you are so real.
WOW Janice! That is very high praise. Thank you so much.
Great job Joy. You really are a great teacher. Really enjoyed the video. Thanks for all your efforts putting it together. The quilt is a beauty but all of your quilts are!!!!
oh i want to thank you i am ill in bed and you have cheered me up so much i just love your bubbly style thanks Becky for leading me to you this is a fab video xxxxx
Thank you. I'm so glad you liked this.
Start to finish LOVE IT.! And I’ve never quilted but this is wonderful education. “7X7 , we are all going to heaven” 🙏😍❤️🙌💯😄
I use those same wipes but for a totally different purpose! I have an SNC but it's still in the box (for 4 years??). You are so knowledgeable.Tech and I do not speak the same language! Your heart quilt is so pretty as is the blue one also from ES.
Just fabulous….wonderful instructions Joy …now would you show us the quilting stage please. I’ve just got a Bernina q16 for Xmas and I’m still learning how to drive it 😂…I noticed the wonderful quilting on the chicken quilt and wondered how you went about choosing what pattern to use etc. No fast forwarding ..far too interesting 💐
Thank you Ms. Joy. What a blessing it was to spend an hour with you. I learned "Sew" much from this tutorial. The Quilt I am working on is called (Fun on the farm.) #Quilt in a day. The pattern calls for both fusible interfacing and Heat & Bond lite. Your instructions are much better than the manufacturers ! Blessings of health and happiness to you and Jerry.
It also helps to have a bright light directly over the scan n cut. That will help it read what you are scanning.
I skipped forward, but I do like to just sit and watch you sew. 🙂
That was a fun video. You are a really good teacher/instructor. In your former life you should have been a teacher
I grew up DREAMING of being a teacher. Never happened though. Life got in the way.
Yes, make it your way, make it work for you.
Fantastic!!! I've tried using the invisible thread and it was a mess. Thanks a million Joy.
I have several other brands of that invisible thread and they are AWFUL! It has really been improved.
Thank you for a great video! What a craft room! Totally jealous ! Quick question: Once you align the three hearts to cut on the mat in the brother machine's computer like you did beginning at about 26:30, can you save that configuration/template for future use? Or do you have to set that up everytime?
Joy, have you not tried Becky’s appliqué on the embroidery machine? Her instructions are so easy to follow. I know you like to do it the way you are showing, but give her way a try sometime. I was amazed how easy it was to learn. Love your videos! Waiting on the storms here in western OK! Love💕
I don't care to do it Becky's way. I actually could do it with software I already have, but by the time I got it all set up, I could already have had it done. Becky doesn't like to do it my way, so she uses the Simply Applique software.
BTW, Joy, I'd love to get the pattern from the quilt behind you. Lovely
I assume you mean the chicken quilt. It is called Chanticleer and Company. You can still get it. Just search for it.
I love your heart quilt top. I'm really thinking about getting a scan and cut would you please tell me which one you got. I didn't realize there were so many of them. I love all of your videos. I learn a lot watching you. May God bless you a;ways.
I just bought the most recent version of SNC at the time.
a good idea maybe to get another bobbin case se one for the factory setting and dont turn the screw on that one use the second for turning the screw when you need to and mark that one with a sharpie so you know which is which and you always have perfect tension on your bobbin x
I never have a problem with setting my tensions. I adjust them on my longarm too.
Thank for your video with the scan and cut..did you do the chicken quilt on with the scan and cut..would love to see that..tys
I did no have the Scan N Cut when I made the chicken quilt. Had to cut out all those pieces by hand.
I scan on the Scan N Cut and do all that editing on the Scan N Cut. There is no need of a computer & I have the oldest machine that cuts fabric. Done lots of applique scanning & cutting on the Scan N Cut. A few times I have needed to trace over an outline with a black pen.
Hi Joy, Thank you for your tutorial. All my machines have a drop in bobbin case . How would I tighten the bobbin case so my bobbin thread won't show on top? Love the heart quilt .
I have some Babylocks like that. You have a place (mine does) where you can adjust the tension. It isn't a knob. You have to set it in the computer part. Check with your dealer for details on that.
If you use free software such as landscape you can trace the heart from your original Epson scan and turn it into a vector svg file. The Scan n Cut should be able to read the svg file, no need to waste time and paper printing it out to scan again. An svg file can be used with any electronic die cutting machine, not just the Scan n Cut
Thoroughly enjoyed this video Joy,I’ve never made a quilt but I certainly intend to. This maybe a silly question, but ,is there a reason you used transparent thread?
Thank you for this video lots of hints and tips learned.🌺🌸💐
I used transparent thread so I would not have to change the color for every heart I sewed around. Transparent thread goes with all colors.
Where can I find a chair like yours? Love it. Thank you
My chair is by Koala. I bought it at my sewing machine dealer in Oklahoma City. Awesome chair. $350.00. Yikes!
Am learning to use my SNC 125. Thanks for your video. I love your room. I want to come sew but I live in Northern California. What kind of flooring do you have in your sewing studio? type and color please
My flooring is wood. We got the color of the other wood in our home.
Wow! That was good! What determines your decision for the choice of stitch on your appliqué?
I only do one stitch or the other. Zig Zag or Satin. I don't really care for blanket stitch, as I said. If I want the applique to look OUTLINED, I use a Satin Stitch. If I just want to make sure it stays put, I use the Zig Zag stitch as on these hearts.
Hi Joy! Love your hearts. Won’t the heart edges fray over time since they haven’t been turned under and the heat n bond lite didn’t stick to the back of the hearts? I’m new to this stuff.
They will only ravel IF you don't sew them down with a zig zag or satin stitch. Some people like blanket stitch, but I do not.
👍!
Beautiful Joy. Will the zig zag method withstand washing and daily use?
Sure, as long as you have covered the edges of your applique design. Satin stitch if you are worried about that, BUT satin stitch can ravel if caught on something. If it breaks somewhere, it just keeps on going. LOL A narrow satin stitch would be best for insurance with lots of washing.
❤️❤️❤️
Learned a lot from your tutorial on how you cut fabric without a fabric mat. Would love to get a pattern for the chicken quilt you showed in the intro. Also, where can we find a container for the scan n cut tools you have on the side of your scan n cut machine.
Those containers are from Command and are to hold razors, I think. You can find them online or at Target or Walmart -- if they aren't out of them.
@@Joy4650B WOW thank you so much for replying. I found them on Amazon and it will be delivered TOMORROW! Can I bug you about the chicken quilt?? Video from Jan. 2022
Thanks for the video ! Just found your channel . Are you that tall or is your door short ?
Yes, my door is very short. It goes out into the attic. It is exactly as tall as I am, so I don't have to duck, thank goodness.
