I think for anyone that is needing to replace their engine this has to be a serious consideration. For many who need the lowend power for how they drive then the 2.0 tdi cr has to be one of the best options out there. Wish you guys much success.
Back around 2010 I had a '98 Jetta TDI, and I thought the engine would be perfect to drop into a Jeep! Lots of low end torque and great fuel mileage. I searched online and never found any shops or prefab kits that had done the conversion.
i put the same motor in my caravan and it is so quiet that i cant hear it running when driving at any speed. sounds loud in a jeep. with the stage 2 tune it really makes a quick van that gets 5 liters /100 k.
This would be the tdi swap id consider for sure. Question will certainly be, buy entire car for swap with adapter plates vs kit cost though. Thats a very clean swap
Great swap! VW diesels are economical and give you good torque. I wish i had the knowledge to use these computer controlled commonrail engines. I always have to use the older diesels with mechanical pumps for diesel swaps because if i see all the wires that comes with modern diesels i get confused😅
I daily a mk6 golf with this engine and with some mild suspension work, its 85% of a gti. I'd love to swap something with the same engine. Would be interesting in a small rwd euro or japanese car.
I have a ‘94 YJ that I am restoring and I am considering a diesel swap. I will be reaching to y’all soon. Separately, I can attest that the 2.0L TDI engine is quite capable. I have a ‘15 Passat TDI for my daily driver; it has heaps of torque and I average 44 mpg on the highway.
I miss wheeling, but can't use my legs anymore. I do hope there will be automatic transmission options, even if it's a 3 speed automatic. I miss my old cj7. It had a 4.2l, but the Motorcraft 2100 carb swap woke it up big time. That 5 speed was finally able to hold 5th gear, where before I had it in 3rd rapped out. 31 inch tires and 3.08 gearing wasn't ideal, but it was an 80%on road vehicle.
Bc it s been proven it often has internal coolant leaks. Its core is baked in China from China's mountain minerals ..those mineral bakes are not as good as the minerals we use from American mountains to make and bake our US engines. Cummins , I dont trust this 2.8. Too many complaints from the real owners after 39-60000 miles about internal engine failures with the coolant and head. do your homework. Tdi so far ...no engine problems and they ve been around a long time.
I question his MPG claim of 25-30 mpg. My 1.9tdi Jetta got 46 mpg in completely stock form.. great mileage, anyone would agree. If the speedo hasnt been calibrated correctly for tire size, final drive, etc. the is no real way to confirm those numbers; he didnt say one way or the other so there is no way to be sure. Not saying he's lying, but I question it.
2:55 torque isn't missing, the jeep is geared to high, making it feel like the engine has no torque. Everyone wants big tires and springs, nobody wants to spend money on the ring & pinions.
I gotta stop watching these guys all I see is $$$ going into my jeep .......which I'm perfectly fine with buuuut wife not so much lol ! Cant wait to do my swap too !
Sounds like trash. And how is that transmission and clutch gonna hold up to the torque from the third? Why is the intercooler on the engine like a 30 year old Japanese turbo car. Why is the eco in the engine bay? Open element air cleaner for an off road Jeep.
That thing about driving a old vehicle talking to someone like talking in a bucket your voice echos cause of least amount of insulation and Deadener and the smell not like a new car smell nothing like it, the ride the feel the smell my truck 78 bronco been off the road since 06 but always had the same smell to it as when my grandpa owned it.I do own a jeep why I view your channel I own a tj but nothing like the old cj7 cj5 and the Willy's jeep maybe it just me wanting a little comfort with the tj

A cr?🤣 pd engines are wayyy better
i know this comment is 2 years old but im looking to swap my wifes 3.4l Toyota 4runner for a tdi lmao
Love the 1.9L BEW I got from you guys almost 5 years ago!
I put a CJAA VW TDI into my CJ7 with a NV3550 in mine and love it! 35 inch tires and I'm getting 28 miles per gallon.
With gears you're running?
@@tr4x4 4.88
@@vwcorrado1 just swap my CJ5 to diesel, and with 35inch tires but running with 5.38... its too short...
@@tr4x4 what transmission?
@@vwcorrado1 eaton, 5 speed... 5 its overdrive

Keep the videos coming. Heaps of 2.0tdi here in Australia and the motors and pretty bulletproof.
Big Block Chevy!
The ride is unreal!
I'm just drooling over a swap like this for a small pickup... I'm a big fan of vw common rails
Thats how I ended up here. Want to do this to an s10.
Great video! Love the torque from the diesel!!

Wanna do my m38a1 with a tdi bew to t15 transmission here as my next vw jeep diesel project lol
Going to be going this route with my YJ here in the up coming months.. 👍
Did you ever go through with it? I'm picking up a YJ in a few days, hopefully. The 2.5L and AX5 will have to go.
This would be the tdi swap id consider for sure.

Thats a very clean swap
the latest from vw in america is the crua engine that came out in 2015, not the cjaa in this jeep

1.9l has less computers and is just as good as the 2.0l though i think the 2.0l can be turned way more
I've emailed a half a dozen times now trying to inquire about their package. With no response. Anyone know of another conversion kit or route?
Great video, love the CJ

My JKU is in the shop for the left head. I'm saving money to do this TDI swap, cause when the head let's go again, I'm junking the 3.6
Are there any kit to use this with the auto?

Like to see this for Toyota tacomas.. specially the wiring harness conversion.. I have an 05 4.0.. will it work with my automatic?
Love it. How about one with the EU turbo/manifold/injectors? I think those came with 200hp stock
a Jeep CJ was an AMC not a CHRYSLER.
Cool swap, how about going over the costs and parts
goto their website he'll sell you everything and a heart attack for about $12k
I want to swap this into my 88 two door pathfinder. I'm liking the 14 mpgs I get right now
Look into the 1.9 ALH TDI. It's a little cheaper, more reliable, it makes a little less power. I plan to eventually build my XJ with the 1.9.
Since buying my 13' tdi sport wagen I've desperately wanted to put the 2.0 in my YJ

Another company makes transmission adapters for these TDI engines. You can easily swap in an Auto with theirs.
Wow jeep GTI . I have a jeta TDI 2014 amazing car
Any plans fit a 2.0 in the tj ?
Any problems with the transmission, have tried or you felt the need for a heavier flywheel?
Cual paso o relacion trae en los diferenciales
id love a swap kit for a 2l into a b5 a4/passat
is there an automatic transmission option?
4:37, I spy with my little eye, My favorite toyota!
How about my 5000 pound f150?
any chance you guys still do XJs? Looking to do a swap in California
From which car You get the 2.0 motor
Why not the Cummins 2,8 crate engine?

Because it would cost 8x more

how are yall running the vacuum booster for the brakes with this setup?
These engine have cam driven vacuum pump
That's great..... nice and tidy job, which is also maintainable. Have you seen the 3.0L TDI v6.... you are going to lose your mind... hahaha

Perfectly fine for a mall crawler though 😅
Трещит на оборотах пока холодный..

Wicked loud...definitely not a fun daily driver 🤣
Your prices are insane. I could buy gas in a v8 for decades before it made any sense at all.
