Heavyweight is so stacked this year. To imagine Bastida is below Gable, Kerk, and Wyatt is insane. Not to mention Shultz, Trumble, Feldman and Ghadiali. That’s one crowded podium!!! Guys like Big Jim Mullen, and Keuter would normally be all American locks but not this year with that depth. I think Bastida can challenge anyone, but Gable is just something else
This is one more year where the Covid free year hurts guys like Feldman and Kueter and Mullen. Shultz, Wyatt, and Ghadali all getting to complete for a 5th year. Don't get me wrong they are following the rules. 4 years should be the max. So Carter going for a 5th NCAA title is a one off, it should not be possible. Gable ( who is younger than many of the 5th and 6th year guys who competed in last years NCAA) might be an exception. Even he graduated college already and is wrestling as an grad student. The only guys who should have gotten the Covid free year is the ones who would have wrestled in 2020. Granting it to anyone the year after never made sense. Look at 125 and 133 last year. Many of them were 22 to 26 years old.
Caliendo has clearly been working on his gas tank all season in preparation for Messinbrink idk if it’ll be enough but I think it’ll be closer this year
@ he is being way too sloppy this year. He’s opened up his offense a lot but it’s leading to easier takedowns for his opponents. But as for pace and stamina he’s looking better than last year
@AntiPattern328 are you saying he didn't lock hands? And he didn't do an illegal move trying to get him back to the mat? He should have just let him go
Literally came to the comments to see if any one else notice that, he was working that arm? I do it all the time take the arm across the back. If anyone was stalling it was kale
@@kobebetty ok so I figured it out it is stalling. He didnt commit to a a side and was parallel to the hips. Im not sure what the count is though. Here It just happened in a way where he got hit right before he started moving
He looked off I can’t get off the fact that he was not aggressive and he looked tired maybe he’s to big for 133 Kevin said he buffed up a ton of weight and if he did that cut looked like it took a toll on
I think he was a last minute sub. He's on his redshirt year and probably better than the starter is why they used one of his available dates for the big rivalry matchup.
Even as Iowa fan I agree, parco deserved to lose, can’t believe he got all cocky after that match, you could even see brands tell him post-match “you got lucky”
Gotta say. The referee's really go pro Iowa at home. 133, no takedown for sure. The stall +1 at 125 was a joke. I just hate when refs get so wound up they decide matches instead of the wrestlers. Seems they're in fear for their life when they work a home event in Iowa.
Here's the deal. Iowa State was better at 25 and 41 and heavyweight and that's it. Iowa completely dominated 65, 74, 84, and 97 so don't go blaming the refs for Iowa State getting smoked
Somebody's a little bit salty that they got smoked. Tech fall at 74 was that the refs fault? Almost a major at 84 how about that was that the rest fault? And how about 10 to 0 at 97 was that the refs fault? And Iowa was clearly dominant at 65. Iowa is better just face it
Euton was putting up a good fight with the #2

Seriously, 4 points for Parco without a takedown? Fucking ridiculous!
More proof that refs are always home cooking for Iowa at home.
Locked hands and Illegal cutback so shut up 🤐!!!
@AntiPattern328 are you saying he didn't lock hands? And he didn't do an illegal move trying to get him back to the mat?
He should have just let him go
Maybe the Iowa State guy should not have locked hands and did a complete illegal move
how was that stalling (2nd time @ 125lbs ) 5:44 ?
he was working in a wing

@ejgames8484 thank you for the clarification
How in the world does Caliendo make 65
I had my money on Frost :(

Damn, it took them 8 mins 20 seconds to call the first Cyclone wrestler by the correct name? 😅

Relax, commentators in pro leagues pronounce names wrong all the time.
The true winner at 149 was Echemendia
and the true loser is also Echemendia for locking hands. He won and lost that match LOL

C'mon... 184, soon as Bockman has an advantage, blow it stalemate? Not saying he would have won but he should have been allowed to score.
Are you serious? You have to be objective. Ferrari was clearly the better wrestler
No lock at 149 but the Brands cry and always get their way at home.
Bro he broke the rules twice and got penalized. Get a grip
You're wrong it was locked hands
Why didn’t Iowa shake hands at the end?
Not required, a lot of college teams don't
Because sore losers Iowa state would try to start a fight
Why is the IOWA STATE COACH wearing the stupid hat?
I was gonna say what happened to Casey Swiderski ? Maybe he got beat out in wrestle offs
He’s injured for the season
Redshirt, getting surgery on his knee
