They are also running a Ultra Low Viscosity fluid with these ridiculous high temps. My 2023 F150 has a cooler, but it is a small heat exchanger mounted on the side of the transmission case, receiving minimal airflow. Great vid. Thx for highlighting the flaws of the Tacoma. A premium priced truck from a reputable brand should not have these issues..
Great video. Hey there Toyota: I will be willing to test drive one of these Tacoma's for you. If it drives for 12 months or 12k miles without any issues, I will buy it.
My ford and GM vehicles have lasted under severe use for 200k miles or more.
I've had a couple. Didn't work out so well for me personally, and I did take care of them. Never again. Just bought a 2024 Frontier.
I wonder why couldn't toyota put the 10 speed from the tundra in the tacoma instead of the current 8 speed?
Y’all better get the last of the 24 4Runners. The last of the best. Or if you can find a good condition 23 Tacoma.
I am not even looking at the Tacomas I've pretty much given up on Toyota thank God I bought a brand new 2022 4Runner when I did
What a total disaster. Would not go near a Tacoma or tundra
It's relatively easy to add a trans cooler to the 2019-2021 Tundras.
Pumping out cheap products for a premium price. 🎵 I love what you do for me… Toyota!🎵
Go Canadan made, they are the best, just like my 1996 Ford F-150!!!! Still run!!!!!!
Toyota has lost the recipe on drivetrain - I've got a '18 Highlander with 100k miles - just learned I need to replace the transmission + t-case - will cost me $20k! While paying for my diagnostic, the tech pointed to the new Tacos and said - those things can't shift into even gears... and Toyota's telling customer - just use 1, 3, 5, etc. It's just embarrassing.
How did Toyota mess up the manual transmission? How does that happen?
I have 3 v6 longbed Tacoma's. A 05 and a 2013 and a 2017. Guys try to buy them from me all the time. Two I run and one for backup.
Nissan dealers have quickly noticed the extra attention in the Frontier, and the discounts on Frontiers are drying up. Some dealers who are finding themselves with low inventory of Frontiers are starting up with the BS markups again
Years to make a solid reputation, seconds to destroy. Sad to see the new generation of USA Toyotas.
So glad I got a 23 Tacoma
Im going to replace my 2001 chevy truck 🪓 radiator hoses and Keep On Trucking
If you’re set your eyes on a Toyota truck / SUV. Get a tundra 21 or older, Tacoma 23 or older or a 24 or older 4Runner
My 12 year old F150 has never had a problem. Not a "throwaway"
2021 plt CM mgm, and installed tran cooler.Best 5/8 P/u ever made😉
Lot of reports on transmission slamming and failure on the 2024 corolla too. Makes me sad.
Wool socks to bed = most vivid dreams possible🟡🟣
I have a2024 Tacoma and the transmission went bad at 700 miles
I’m sorry to hear man… how did they fix it for you? Just swapped out for a new one?
I have a 2021 Nissan frontier SV 4 x 4 zero issues runs great
I rather buy the new Frontier over the 2024 Tacoma! Frontier looking HOT.
This guy keeps it real, love his analysis.
I will keep my 2012 trd sport 4.0 L engine,6 ft bed,4 door ,133K on it without a hiccup EVER.......I LOVE IT.....might start looking again in two or three years....NISSON FRONTIER is ny next truck. 3.8 L gas engine, real simple like the OLD Tacomas
That’s a shame for a company that has had such great products for a long time.
I had three Tacomas from 1995 to 2019, then went with an older Ridgeline and will never go back.
How does Toyota screw up the Manual transmission? Toyota has failed us.
I have a trd off road 2024. Auto 2700 miles. Mine is at dealer awaiting a new trans. The wait time 2-4 months. If you need more info I’d love to talk
6/23/24 - Sad sad sad ...
I just can't see buying any Toyo
2024 turbo etc
Fallen from grace
Greed in greed out
Just trash vehicles
MTGA
make Toyo great again
Isn't the manual the same as the 3rd gen manual?
Yes it's the same transmission
In my experience all yoda truck manuals from 80s to now all sucked. Could it be the low end torque from new turbo is too much for them ?
I have a disel Chevrolet. Turned out to be trash my turbo went out thank goodness manufactor is fixing it for free.
Cheaper in quality and costs, but not cheaper in price, actually the opposite.
Just FYI, the OEMs are running the transmission fluid temps up to 250deg F+ to lower the fluid viscosity, in an effort to improve fuel economy through pumping losses of the fluid. They are also running a Ultra Low Viscosity fluid with these ridiculous high temps. My 2023 F150 has a cooler, but it is a small heat exchanger mounted on the side of the transmission case, receiving minimal airflow. The Raptor R is the only F150 that still has a normal cooler at the front core support area. I am currently working on a normal old school style cooler for my 2023 and 2024 F150s. Let me know if you want more info. Personally, I do not drive foreign company vehicles, as I vote with my dollar everyday for the USA, so I only purchase Ford vehicles (good or bad) as I see them as the LAST American car company other than Tesla. Government Motors (GM) stole my tax dollars to keep their poorly run company afloat, so they are dead to me.
the new LC actually has transmission coolers. ill be getting that one.
If Mitsubishi plays their cards right here... They might make some record sales
Speculation!!!!!!!
Toyota done goofed. Overpriced junk. They took America's best selling mid size trunk and flushed it down the toilet. This thing was so hyped up last year, it was all just a smoke show.
You only need a transmission cooler on a big truck when you're pulling heavy load behind the truck like a fifth wheel trailer or something, other than that you don't need a cooler I have honed Ford Dodge never had any transmission problems with any of them worked flawlessly had them for many years high mileage also and now I have my Honda no overheating problems transmission shifts perfectly no issues that's the difference between making something good and Macon garbage. I could understand if Toyota always make crappy cars and Transmissions but they haven't before they've always been relatively reliable so now they're going backwards which tells me they have to be doing this on purpose not an accident at all. They have always made garbage I can understand them having these problems it's something you would be expecting, so their quality is going backwards so the customer should be turning around and walking away and buying something else don't support this garbage!!!!
100% agree! Thank
You!
Is the transmission the same one that will be used in the 4Runner and Land Cruiser?
Yes since the engines are the same.
If you smart, do not support bad decisions and corporate greed. It’s really an impressive piece of cheap plans d metal parts. Let them rot on the lot!
Toyota needs to fire Sheldon Brown, chief engineer of the Tacoma
it’s tundra and new 4runner too lmao
I am keeping my 1st generation Tacoma forever.
If they launch a defective 4Runner, they have have hit a trifecta +1 with their new TNGA platform.
