In tabla upper arms are also used well. In mridangam it is the forearms and wrists that does the trick. Nicely formed fingers are an added advantage of effectively used. UKS sir's fingers are amazing and used to its fullest. What others mridangists play with more efforts using the entire forearms, seem to flow effortlessly from sir's playing.
First of all we shouldn't talk about anyone because we would have done/achieved/created something/anything sustainably in the universe!! Especially we can't judge anything at once because we must hear everything and try anything unique from that as perfect as they handle!! # if you worship any legend that's good culture but if blame other for that it's not a good custom.
@@varadharajanviswanathan2925 ...this is my view and not just like that i have made this observation.... I have been listening and observing artists for more than 50 years and have learnt mridangam though not taken as profession....i am aware of the playing style, patterns, korvais played by various artists.....off course opinions are bound to differ for each individual.....!!!
Whatever Karaikudi can do Umayalpuram can do. Umayalpuram sir is more senior to him and his clarity and power are better in his prime. He's the grandmaster.
@@FactsandReelsForall ...may be your view....but I have learnt the instrument and have better idea when I make an observation.... Offcourse you are entitled to have your views.....but coming from a person who learnt the art is definitely more authentic.... I don't know if you have learnt the art or no....but I have been listening for more than 50 years now and have seen many artists play.....!!!

Both are almost equal but Tabla lacks "Nadham". Mridangam is an Indian instrument.
