FULL OF SHAT: 40 TV guest appearances by William Shatner from 1956 to 1976

- There are probably more than 40 clips, but two of them had to be cut short due to UA-cam copyright issues. In fact, this video was taken down a couple of years ago by YT for copyright reasons -- and it might happen again -- so watch it while you still can.

William Shatner is a wonderful actor.
Not everything he has tried worked but he's had the courage to try where other's wouldn't even make the attempt. Early in his career he was on an episode of One Step Beyond call ed The Promise and he was absolutely extraordinary. His performance has remained with me since I saw that episode as part of that series. His career has been nothing short of an amazing adventure that he is still part of.
I love him in the Weird Or What series, if that's the right name. He is superb.
Interesting that he did that "Promise" episode in the '60s, and then in the '70s he did the series of TV commercials for Promise margarine.
I've seen him in "The Twilight Zone" ... "The Outer Limits" ... "One Step Beyond" ... "Thriller" ... "The Defenders" ... "TattleTales" (game show) ... "MatchGame" (game show) ... "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" ... "Police Story" ... "Mission Impossible" ... let me just say that William Shatner is by far one of the best actors in movie, cinema history ... he has more than 250 film and television credits under his belt and has appeared in /hosted in / participated in more than 475 different programs like commercials, television shows, specials , occasions, presentations , Wow 😳 the man is an Icon 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟
And he's still vibrant in his '90s and has become a real spaceman! He's lived the most interesting life possible!
@@FredFlix facts.
Holy Shat, this is awesome! The man is a living legend and this was long overdue. Thank you Fred, for keeping UA-cam the place to be 👍👍👍
Live long and prosper, Doug. (Oh, wait, that's the other guy...)
The Man. The Legend. The Shat.
Not bad from a 'kid' out of Canada. Congratulations on your 92nd trip around the sun. Happy Belated Birthday 🎉🎉
Not only did we see Shatner performing wonderfully but did you all see all the other great actors with him too?! What a great guy and thank you Fred. Awesome compilation indeed.
You're welcome, Cancel19.
Brilliant title.. I believe.. you nailed... this one
Thanks, onefatstratcat (and I wouldn't shat you).
William Shatner was my first crush. He was much older than me when Star Trek came on. I used to fall asleep, thinking of him. Thanks for the video
You're welcome, l j.
I met William Shatner back in the early 80s at 11 west 25th street N.Y.C. , a complete gentleman 👍 👍
@@rafaelramirez1507 That's cool, Rafael!
@@FredFlix what can I say, I love this channel Fred 👍👍
Omgoodness!!! I had no idea I had seen William Shatner in SO MANY SHOWS!!! Favorites of my Mother and I!!! Thanks for the eye opening Revelation!!!😮
Excellent compilation Fred¡!! You are a magician!!! Thank you!
Shatner on Columbo was a classic!
Great stuff! Like an encyclopedia of 60s TV. I got to see Shatner in person once. He can tell a great story. Lot's of charisma.
William Shatner is an amazing actor! Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise!
Full of Shat. Now there's a title for ya! Classic!
That Dr. Kildare episode... Two legends like Bill Shatner and Richard Chamberlain playing against each other! It doesn't get much better than that!
I loved him in 3rd Rock from the Sun, even though that came later. Nobody could have played The Big Giant Head better than him. :) I like how they even had the in-joke of him and John Lithgow doing the "gremlin on the plane" bit from Twilight Zone and the 1983 movie.
Given the choices of Alien Overlords, The Big Giant Head isn't so bad
Just watched that!!
Terrific actor, and outstanding documentation/tribute, Fred. The clip you showed of, The Hungry Glass episode of Thriller imo is representative of that episode being one of the best supernatural episodes in TV history.
Super compilation Fred!👍 Love William Shatner, one of my all-time favorites!😎
Thanks, Tigre7.
A true TV icon !
I still remember that episode of TZ with the gremlin. And I just loved him in Boston Legal but that was waay after all this. He's truly an icon. 💜🤟
An amazing individual, Mercedes.
Nobody does Shatner like Bill ! I have all his Albums! ♥
Fred, this certainly was one "Shatty" video! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 More please 🙏 👍👍👍
I Shat my load on this one, Robert.
Thanks Fred..a very worthy fella to showcase. The one and only true capt. of the STARSHIP ENTERPRISE. No baldies or bearded need apply.
Well...maybe baldies if they wear a rug, Jaim.
Wow, thanks I needed that!
Glad to help, Nostromo.
@@FredFlix its just that I need these reminders that it all happened and entertainment was, i don't know, ... understandable.
Our TV broke a few years ago and she said, "It was just an intruder. Lets kick it out." And So we are without a TV. and it is great to see your creative reminders from yesteryear.
SHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He really loved the ladies.
that is the best damn title for a youtube post ever. brilliant sir
I thought of the title first. The hard part was making the video.
Not too bad for a"kid" from Canada. Happy Belated 92 trips around the sun for William Shatner 🎉 🎂 🎉
Montreal born Bill Shatner starred on the Stratford stage in many productions.
8:44 Interestingly enough this is from a 1963 episode of _Dick Powell Theater_ titled _Colossus_ where Shatner is playing opposite the late Robert Brown who filled in four years later at the last minute as the character Lazarus in the 1967 _Star Trek_ episode _The Alternative Factor._
Do you know who was originally cast as Lazarus?
@@FredFlix Yes! Drew Barrymore's dad, John Drew Barrymore. He failed to show up literally on the first day of filming and they had to scramble for a replacement.
His appearance in One Step Beyond was where he was beginning to get his Sci-fi footing, and the early 60s b n w Dr Kildare, was when his vocal intonations and pauses as Kirk were developing.
Thanks for "the many faces of Shat!" guest appearances Fred, he's a great actor and still going at 92 😮
He never "Shat" on any show he appeared in, always smooth acting. Lol
Then he Shat up in the sky, Steve.
Great footage Fred. I think most of these clips were before Shatner got tinnitus. He got it from a special effects explosion on the set of Star Trek.
Great compilation, Fred! Some of these I've seen, and some I've never seen before.
5:01 Is that Mrs. Howell from Gilligan's Island?
"so watch it while you still can"
I tried downloading this but it's too long, it won't let me. Can you possibly re-upload this in two or better yet 3 parts? Just for me? ( a longtime subscriber ) 😄
That is indeed Mrs. Howell, George.
Minor clarification @ 16:47. There are 3 series with similar titles that all started in 1969:
-The Bold Ones: The New Doctors
-The Bold Ones: The Lawyers
-The Bold Ones: The Protectors
(The Bold Ones: The Senator first aired in 1970)
Shatner was on The New Doctors, in the episode entitled “Tightrope to Tomorrow,” that aired in 1973 (check out those chops) and not 1970 as indicated in this video.
Great job, Fred!
2:30 - I'd never seen Shatner & Jack Klugman act together before, but it's not surprising given both their classic tv careers.
3:35 - David White, aka "Larry Tate", also had a great classic tv career.
4:25 - I've seen him on THRILLER at least once when it was on MeTV.
6:05 - I think he played the younger Preston in the original program that led to the creation of THE DEFENDERS.
7:15 - I think this is from the show after Efrem Zimbalist, Jr. was left as the only cast member starting fall 1963.
8:05 - Denver Pyle in a rare appearance w/o his beard.
11:18 - I never got into THE OUTER LIMITS as much as TWILIGHT ZONE. I think it was just a bit too weird for me.
14:24 - Universal seems to be particularly picky about copyright claims, even in fair use, which this is.
17:52 - It's nice to see Mariette Hartley turn up here too.
20:06 - Lee Majors has done pretty well to have at least 4 tv series that lasted more than a season.
21:48 - Larry Storch in what seems to be a rare dramatic appearance.
Shatner also starred in a series called BARBARY COAST around 1975.
Thanks a lot, Jon!
Barbary Coast! Yeah! Wish it had lasted longer.
@ 6:44 - Theodore Bikel, who would play Worf's father on Next Generation
"Denny Crane!"😆("Boston Legal" Theme starts in my head🎶)
GREAT compilation
Thanks, Eli.
The Hardest Working Man in TV
I.used to get tv guide and watch every show where a Trek performer was guest starring!!😂
Maybe he overacted a bit at time but nobody can denies he had three thousands ton of charisma, even back in the 50's. Not much actors in history could have rivalise with him on this matter. For me he is at the same level as Brando, Errol Flynn and Connery.
Even better, he went into space.
Actually Leonard Nimoy began his acting into Sci Fi much earlier than William Shatner, 1954 as that Staff Sgt gathering suspicious activity about giant ants in """THEM""" and also in the 1952 movie Zombies of the Stratosphere. Shatner was still doing plays in Canada.
Goodness, he was a busy actor!
Million Dollar Hospital 1963. perhaps it was in there and I missed it.
Nice collection of Shat!
This sure brings back the memories, Fred.
And, Fred, amazingly, he's still with us (and not looking ancient).
Wow that was a lot off Shatner wow, nice one, he has done a lot off good stuff.
Plus he's gone into space!
Thx , ( part in 'Judgment at Nuremberg' as US staff officer )
Yeah, movie though.
Columbo, 2X, Twilight Zone 2X, Thriller, Outer Limits, Kung- Fu
Interestingly, in The Twilight Zone, Thriller, The Outer Limits and Colombo, he played a man who was recovering from a nervous breakdown when all hell broke loose.
Excellent title darlin!❤
And I know you're not shattin' me, Chantelle.
YT had the Pilot of "Nero Wolfe" where Shatner was Nero's personal assistant
Fantastic job!!! FYI....You tube has blocked any "Six Million Dollar Man" clips I've tried to post. You may want to edit out that clip & repost it.
I shortened it to such an extent I think it'll be OK.
Beam… me…up…Scotty
Which...he...never...said.
Just as impressive is the list of people he appeared with...
Besides Jack Klugman, I noticed David White from Bewitched & Natalie Schafer from Gilligan's island. Larry Storch too.
Fun video to watch...thanks!
You're welcome, Richard.
Someone once remarked...he was every school boys dream...he had the big comfy lounger...the big screen...pretty girls....point proven.
You forgot his Loblaws grocery commercials🙂 Not sure also but I think he may have been in a Cannon or Rockford Files episode, I,ll check my dvds🙂
A commercial is not a guest appearance.
Captain....we've just entered a space anamoly... What do we do?
Best of Canada
Sounds like Jack Klugman at 2:57. Both of them went on to be in different "Twilight Zone" episodes.
Very cool Fred..
Thank you, friend Brenda.
@@FredFlix you're most welcome my friend
A lot of hard work went in to this ,good job.
@@billywatson118 yes indeed
@@billywatson118 Thanks, Billy. It sure took some time.
@ 7:07 & 22:39 - Maximum Shatner!
Great clips, Fred. Shatner, the good, the bad, the ugly...what an actor nonetheless!
And he became a REAL spaceman, Tom.
@@FredFlix yes you’re right!
And a bonus....THE ED SULLIVAN SHOW, where he performed scenes from the Broadway play he starred in, THE WORLD OF SUZIE WONG.
ua-cam.com/video/19BKU7m2PXQ/v-deo.html
He was brilliant in The World of Suzie Wong! I wish they would have cast him in the movie version of it as well.
He Was Also On
The Name Of The Game.
Petrocelli.
Police Woman.
The Rookies .
Did Shatner ever make it into the Batman wall clime cameo gag?
Raymond Burr and Bill Shatner.
Nice retrospective Fred...I certainly hope you haven't "shat" your load here! (Sorry man, that joke was bad, even for me!)
I won't ask you to shat up, elc1960.
Its Bill; Jim !
7:13 He's just had a butt full
Lorne Greene and Bill Shatner.
Another gem from the master of yesteryear TV.
What made Shatner:
The Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits, the hairpieces, the pauses in the delivery of lines, the shout face, the gremlin, the devil's' cards of the future, the wavy palm tree monster, the courage to take on some pretty tacky roles and make something of them.
I'm sure that I saw every Dr. Kildare episode but I was too busy watching Richard Chamberlain to notice Bill.
Live long and prosper, Captain.
You as well, Martha.
Shatner turned down the lead role on Dr.Kildare and the role of of the son in the Defenders because he wanted a film career
I don't like Jeff Bezos as he seems to be a "limousine liberal" who has got his $$$$ but wants to preach socialism and communism and "stateism" to us peons these days. However, I am an HONEST CONSERVATIVE, who has NOT sold my SOUL to my politics. THEREFORE I can look beyond my petty dislike for the dichotomy of Bezo's life and his ethos, and honestly say...sending "The Captain" in to space in a real spaceship, was a class act.
Worst actor I've ever seen in my life. Overdramatizes and you can tell he's acting.
William Shatner is a powerhouse of his own. Go Captain!
