  • I've retrieved more of my ancient collection and have been really looking forward to putting these on the board. The Late Roman Empire has some very interesting and varied possibilities for conflict, and Hail Caesar lets me get a game set up and done in good time.
    The Goth invasion/extended holiday of Gaul is a fascinating backdrop for wargaming in its own right, as the Romans fight a kind of counter-insurgency on their own territory. Even facing the embarrassment of having thousands of Germanic raiders looting an Imperial province at leisure, Roman Commanders had to deal with their own political enemies whilst trying to muster forces sufficient to defeat the invaders.
    Models primarily Gripping Beast, with some Footsore Miniatures and a couple of Wargames Foundry for good measure. Rules by Warlord Games. Scenery from various sources.

      Thanks very much. Yes, in my subsequent games I tried to keep it steadier. I think I tired myself out in that one!

    Hello, I have a question regarding the rules for gathering troops. For example, in the book of armies for the Middle Ages in the Mongols section, it is indicated that 50% of the units should be horse archers. Does that mean I have to spend half of my points on a set of horse archers, or have half of my entire army as horse archers?

    • @Shieldwall100
      @Shieldwall100  2 роки тому +1

      It's 50% of the number of units, not the points amount. But I use these as guidelines rather than absolute rules when I set up games.

    Why you kept the roman unit lingering there and let the other unit be charged and flanked? Seem the romans had the most incompetent commander in the field!
