    I believe Olaplex is used to either prevent damage when bleaching or if used as a separate treatmeant it'll do its best to restore your hair follicle to the way it would be in its virgin state. So if your virgin hair is naturally like that, then Olaplex won't really smooth it out because it's not a topical, silicone solution.

      It’s basically meant to be a bond builder to repair damage to your hair whether bleach, tension damage, etc. but yeah it’s not gonna make your air dry smoothly or anything, it’s just meant to repair damage to the hair and make it feel more moisturized, smooth and shiny

      Their website says you can use olaplex on virgin hair. There are other factors that come into damage such as heat styling and weather conditions, and olaplex can help keep the bond in tact to prevent any unnecessary splitting.

    Great video!
    So the Olaplex Number 3 is a treatment that helps to re link the broken bonds in our hair that break due to coloring, heat styling, and mechanical styling (brushing), Olaplex themselves state that Number 3 is not a traditional conditioning treatment, that you would use after shampooing your hair which may be why you may not be seeing the results you’re looking for.
    I think you would really like Olaplex Number 6, which is a bond smoothing leave in conditioner! You can leave it in your hair to air dry or blow dry with it. If you mix it with a little of the Number 7 Oil from Olaplex, it works as a heat protectant as well against blow drying, and really helps to smooth out the cuticle of the hair from frizz. It can be quite heavy so a little of it goes a long way, but I think you would really like it, and see more noticeable results!

    Frizzy girl here! Just wanted to share some things I've learned/realized lately about my hair. I've learned a lot actually from watch sarah ingle's videos since she has read this whole textbook on hair chemistry and it's fascinating! i've realized my hair hates moisture and that's why it's frizzy. I've tried the curly girl method of using liquid conditioner then oil and i just never got the results i wanted. i did however mix up once and put the oil first and then water and conditioner after and it gave me much better results. that was my first clue. for frizzy hair, you need protectants. u did a whole video on silicones and it was great! you mentioned oiling and i wonder why that's not in your routine more it seems like? choosing the right type of oil for your hair is important though. i realized i need to put oil on my dry hair everyday in order to protect it from the elements. that's why the top layer of my hair is frizzier than the underneath layer. but the key is to get the balance of oil right because using too much will lead you to using too much shampoo. and that's the other thing. unless shampoo has a really low ph (3.5 for curly-5 for straight) it's bad!! i can shampoo only once a week, and i have to immediately deep condition my hair after for at least 10 min. sometimes I even have to put oil on my hair first or a pre-poo to protect it but it's hard to go down the no poo road idk if i would recommend that. i also like acv rinses bc it helps the ph of your hair and close the shafts. and green tea rinses or rice water rinses. but after deep conditioning I put oil on and finding the right amount to use here is very key bc u just took a shower and u don't want to slip and get it greasy looking again. so go easy start little by little and as it dries see if u need a little more. when it's almost dry i'll wrap all my hair around my head to make it a little straighter, more wavy for me bc my hair is 2c. and that's it. I need to sleep with protective styles more, get a microfiber towel and a better silk pillowcase though. my hair hasn't recovered from when i stopped oiling during quarantine bc i didn't have to see anyone i rly let myself go :/

    • @artslover125
      @artslover125 3 роки тому +1

      also if anyone is looking for a rly good hair oil i suggest this one i found on etsy it's kind of pricey bc i like organic products. www.etsy.com/listing/241740703/organic-happy-hair-oil-raw-vegan-leave?ref=hp_rf-2&frs=1
      and there's another one i haven't tried but want to with "vegetable silicone" they call it but it's just a blend of specific oils.
      www.etsy.com/listing/228637789/sleek-shine-anti-frizz-hair-oil-12-spf?ref=hp_rf-3

    • @artslover125
      @artslover125 3 роки тому +1

      also forgot to mention that after washing and deep conditioning, I really try to get as much water out of my hair with a microfiber towel and then put oil on. basically water-based moisture is really not ideal for my hair. Mostly when people say their hair needs moisture what they really mean is conditioning. conditioning is what makes your hair look and feel soft and healthy. even though water has a balanced ph, it's still too high for hair. oil doesn't affect the ph of hair and it's what helps to condition it. my skin scalp and hair are all combination oily and dry. it's been really tricky to figure out how to balance it, especially my scalp bc i still haven't figured out dandruff (if anyone has any tips! besides the basic stuff i probably tried it all) i think oil is really key though in terms of oil balancing. sounds simple enough. having a hybrid hair type can be really fun and look beautiful once you get the hang of your routine I am learning to embrace it more. My hair can be straighter or curlier depending on how I do it, without using any heat ever. If I wear my hair wrapped around my head when it's a little damp while i sleep it's much straighter. when I wear it up in a bun to sleep it makes my 2c curls looser and look more wavy and also volumized! but the downside is if I wear it in a hairstyle it can keep that shape for a while and look weird lol. but overall it's great, we've just never learned to properly care for it bc of all the misleading information out there from the hair industry and people with different hair types than us. people need to start talking about hybrid hair more! idk if it's really the right term, or what is, but it's not the same as curly or straight hair care.

    Olaplex repairs from the inside of the hair strand out, it’s NOT a conditioning or straightening or smoothing treatment. It’s a reparative treatment. You’re meant to wash it out with shampoo and conditioner afterwards and after about a month of consistent uses you’ll see real results, making your hair stronger. This isn’t going to smooth your hair, it only corrects damage. If that’s your hair naturally without damage, Olaplex isn’t going to do much of anything for you.

    I wash my my hair with a biotin and collagen hair shampoo twice before conditioning it with a keratin hair conditioner, and I let it air dry, meanwhile, I brush my hair with a wide tooth comb to make it not tangley, once it dries, I tie it up into a low ponytail, then put a cap on it and leave it either overnight or leave it on for a few hours to tame it. As it is a protein hair mask, you need to identify if you even need added protein to your hair, if you don't I don't think it'll give much of a result. But yeah, maybe try to use it a few more times.

    I find with Olaplex, the immediate results aren't that noticeable, but I've noticed pretty massive changes with regular use once a week over a 6 month period. My hair air dries like yours, and Olaplex doesn't do much for that, but I do notice my ends feel a lot healthier and my hair feels fuller, and it seems to grow faster! That last bit is probably because the Olaplex helps prevent and repair breakage though. I use the Olaplex No 3 with the Olaplex shampoo and conditioner. I don't know if those make a huge difference, but I got them as a gift and I figure I might as well be consistent with the full package.

    I love Olaplex! It saved my super damaged blonde hair. I was using the No. 3 twice a week for a few months last year and over time I definitely believe it's helped with the strength of my hair. My hair fall dramatically got better (My blonde hair used to snap off). Now I use it once every two weeks alternating with my regular moisture or protein treatments as I try to grow out the last of the damaged blonde hair.
    I have to say I've also noticed the ends of my hair haven't been splitting, which is helping me to grow it longer as the trims I get aren't needing to get a lot of hair trimmed off.
    I recently tried the no. 0 along with the no. 3 and in the first try, I noticed my hair was dramatically softer and silkier than it is usually after a no. 3 treatment. The no. 0 really made a difference! Although, a note for wavy/curly girls, I also noticed my waves were more relaxed and didn't spring up as much after that washday with the no. 0.

      @@gracemannion5315 I always that people who said that there’s someone for everyone and that the grass is always greener on the other side was codswallop. But, as I got older, I abandoned that cynicism and self-hatred. I think we are given things to appreciate and love them, but we tend to tear them apart. I love that phrase, “Someone’s insecurity could be another’s desire.” That just perfectly expresses what I feel about this. I also have unruly hair and my mom has soft, wavy hair and I was jealous as well! But I’m working with it now, like we’re given a life to live it, I was given this unruly head of hair to make the most of it. Hair is almost like an angel’s halo I think. Everyone is insecure sometimes and that’s alright, it’s only human nature. We just have to learn to work with insecurity, instead of it being our enemy or vice versa. I think a good way to do this is setting realistic goals and using yourself as a measure of growth instead of others. Comparison really is the thief of joy :)
