Niko considered herself a very happy person. At 23 years old, she had a job she loved, a place to call home, and a wonderful partner.
Niko worked as a nurse in a hospital. She loved this profession since she was a child. Medicine had always fascinated her, and initially, she had thought about becoming a doctor. However, later she realized that getting into a medical university would be incredibly difficult for her, considering the lack of money for tutors or paid tuition. That's why Niko decided to study to become a nurse.
During studying at a nursing school, Niko fell in love for the first time in her life. Her chosen one, Doug, was three years older than Niko, and he studied at medical college. He was good-looking: tall, athletic, with slightly curly blond hair and cheerful green eyes.
Doug was the captain of the college sports team and represented the institution in various competitions, so it was no surprise that he was popular with girls.
It's difficult to say why Doug chose Niko among his many loyal fans. Later, Niko called this her personal bad luck, but at the beginning she was convinced that she was favored by destiny.
Regardless, towards the end of Niko's second year, Doug asked her out, and she agreed. Their relationship was forceful, although more like a friendship. Niko and Doug studied together for the session, spent a lot of time talking, going for walks, watching movies, and going to cafes. In short, they led the ordinary lives of young people who were curious about the world.
At that time, Niko lived with her parents and her older brother, Tom. And then trouble arrived for them - Niko's grandmother fell ill. Helen was a strict, intelligent, well-read, and demanding woman. Recently, she lived alone, but Tom and Niko visited her from time to time.
But when it became apparent that Helen couldn't physically live alone, the family decided that Niko would take care of her. The thing was, the grandmother always favored her granddaughter more than her grandson. It was hard to say what had led to such a different attitude to the children, but the fact remained. Besides, Niko was to inherit Helen's wonderful two-bedroom apartment in the center of the city, too. The will had been written several years ago.
The elderly woman only required help with household problems and occasional medical assistance, such as administering medication or calling the doctor. Niko, who was studying to be a nurse, saw this as a perfect opportunity to gain practical experience.
The girl agreed with her family's opinion and happily moved to her grandmother's house before the new school year began. As a result, she and Doug couldn't meet as frequently as before. Niko's studies, consumed a significant amount of her time. After her classes, she rushed home to heat up food and feed her grandmother, who had difficulty doing so herself. Afterward, Niko would focus on studying for the next day's lessons and preparing for her practical training.
Doug also had a heavier workload compared to before. During the summer, he took a job at the city hospital. Due to the shortage of staff, Doug often worked a day shift with the next night shift.
This schedule left little opportunity for them to have proper meetings. They had to rely on phone calls and occasional moments to communicate via the internet.
But Niko wasn't upset that she had to take care of her grandmother. She had only seen kindness from her throughout her life, and she was sincerely grateful for the will written in her name.
However, after a few months of this lifestyle, Doug started to complain. He didn't like that when he had a spare time, he and Niko didn't always have a date. If the grandmother at that time required care, the girl stayed with her.
The girl was at a loss as to what to do. On one hand, she couldn't leave her grandmother alone, especially during moments when she was particularly worried about her condition. On the other hand, she understood that Doug was right in some way too.

Another wonderful story. Nicole was such a kind, loving and wonderful person. I'm glad she finally saw through Ryan and his evil toxic mother. Like mother, like son, both are evil, vile and greedy people. Grandma Martha was also a wonderful woman. She gave Nico insight to Ryan and his mother's intentions and greed. Wonderful story. It Illustrates how a woman needs to think of her life before charging ahead. How she can have a career to support herself in life. To have savings and investments for a family and retirement. To find love and commitment. Stand up for what is right and not make excuses for wrongs.
