I am watching Lawrence of Arabia right now and he is amazing in this movie. He was truly a wonderful actor and he was Mr. Blue Eyes in my books. Rest In Peace Peter.....
I never understand why people comment saying I'm watching one of the actor's film and also watching a UA-cam video, are mobiles/cellphones clued to some people's hands and they have to look at something on the rotten thing.
@@billyb6001 not the same thing. He’s not an Academy Award winner as he didn’t beat anyone for the Honorary Oscar he received. He will always be an nominee since he never got one competitively.

@@Jared_Wignall yeah I heard that too about Richard Harris's family asking for peter otoole to be given the dumbledore role. I also heard he was considered but due to his ill health they couldn't get him covered with insurance. Its a pity he would've been brilliant. Gambon was good though
Deserved more than one oscars. It is hard to believe that he acted in Lawrence of Arabia,Goodbye Mr.Chips,My Favourite Year, Lion in the Winter, Venus, The Ruling Class and was not awarded for any.
It’s cause the Oscars are dumb as hell on a lot of occasions. The best hardly get recognized anymore, when they do in a given year when they deserve it, it’s sort of shocking.
Yes, Richard Burton was also nominated 7 times for an Oscar but never won. It was never awarded to him. People like O'Toole, Burton, Harris were in many respects persona non grata in Hollywood. They just didn't play the Hollywood game. Tom Hanks they were most definitely not ..
Academy Awards actually meant something at that time. Even being nominated was a sheer honor. Now they go to whatever DEI candidate they can conjure up from the depths.
enormous charm eloquence and carriage avuncular erudite and elegant tall slender and graceful with a well honed cultured voice and sublime delivery of his era he really had no equal all but shadows behind his frame a classical actor unrivalled within our firmament . . . .he had it all and in spades. small wonder this poor man drank so much for how can you carry the weight of that talent unfettered . as an actor he really was a genius where most others were mere journeymen.
Saw him on stage in "Jeffrey Barnard is Unwell" the best time ive had at the theatre ever!!! He was pure genius & hilariously funny ...my husband was in shock "Lawrence of Arabia" is sitting on the edge of the stage, swinging his legs right in front of me...😍thought he might faint😬😹
Annie: I also had the privilege of seeing this show while on a London vacation. One afternoon I was riding on a double-decker bus that happened to drive by the theatre where it was playing. I saw the billboard that said PETER O'TOOLE in big letters, so I hopped off the bus as quickly as possible, then ambled back to the box office and got a ticket for that evening's show. A fortunate occurrence (loved the egg-in-the-cup bit).
As he said about being a "mere" entertainer... That's not completely true: HE WAS PURE BRILLIANT CLEVERNESS. A further wise person who lived his own, fulfilled existence at the whole proved experiences. A truly courageous champion of the species.
Don't understand that. He's half way through being interviewed and then he's interrupted by the television! How disrespectful to a great actor. He handled that well 🇬🇧
And why did Peter o Toole never go to the Oscars? I was looking for information on the Internet, I could not find it anywhere, maybe someone knows why he attended the ceremony in 1981 and did not go to the rest.
There was a Johnny Carson show with Peter O'Toole on an Oscar night. When asked why he wasn't at the Oscars he said it was because he wasn't going to win. He wasn't bemoaning it but respectfully said who he hoped would win.
WTF are you talking about ? The performances many gave in those movies are better than they ever gave, cause these movies allow them to explore all of the emotional spectrum and stretch their acting range, as you have to show more and more versitile emotions in shorter time and that demands talent. Single bit of a scene in a god damn trailer allowed Robert Downey to give a better performance than the entire 100 minutes of The Judge. And the performance you get from him in the comedy Due date with Galafinakis is beyond deep, but snobs like your self who think drama is the only valid acting shows how little you understand the toppic at hand. The extra clip of again Downey as the black curnal as he's just messing about is a better performance than 70% of people have who got oscars in the past 1o-15 years, i bet you never saw it didn't you?
He was a spectacular actor and was born in Connemara, County Galway in 1932. His family then moved to Leeds for work when he was only a few months old. Look it up
His refined sense of humor is incomparable. His nuggets of truth are classic.
One of the greatest actors of all time and the most beautiful eyes!
one of greatest speaking voices, i might add.
A true legend of a man we don’t appreciate them till there gone.
True. I didn't even realize how talented he was when he was still alive. Guess I was too young then.
A TRUE classic, the man, the movies that he made, and his life is legend. He still shines, shines, shines.
I adored him as a child and continue to love him! ❤
When actors were actors and not just movie stars.
An incomparable, abundantly gifted man & actor! I adore his work & wish to god I'd met him

Peter O'Toole definitely should've won for Lawrence of Arabia. Yes, Gregory Peck was great & he won, but O'Toole owned the grand and incredible film.

good thing he didn't live to see the Marvel debauchery of acting....god that's terrible.

He was considered for the role I think before Harris was chosen.
If only... though Harris was great.
Weren't the celebrities celebrating pollanski ?... the hypocrisy is overwhelming with these people they live in another dimension to reality .....
The fact that Roman Polanski won an oscar yet Peter didn't.... Nuff said!

O'Toole was a hammy actor who pretended to be Irish.
