I love how in Edie’s final narration, she’s accepted the fact that she will no longer be part of her friends’ lives and is at peace with her afterlife. “It’s not hard to die when you know you have lived.” I don’t want to leave this Earth without living life to the fullest. Thank you Edie (as well as Marc Cherry & Nicollette Sheridan) for your beautiful words.

This series to me was one of few series that actually touches you and your own life. The storylines may be dramatic and over the top, though it's not far from everyday life when you look at the series as a whole. • The tornado episode and the distress of families. • The death of people e.g edie and Mike, how they were set up was really personal and it definitely wasn't shy of being relatable. • Death of family and loved ones • Lynettes cancer • Breakups and divorce... I can go on and on. The series just hits home.
I never watched another episode of this show after the departure of Edie. She was such a strong, complex person, and she kept all the other Housewives on their toes. Love how she and Karen became great confidants.
Just remembered her today. She was my favorite character. I was so shocked on the previous episode to even cry, but withing this one, I was feeling sad all the time, and after her son's last scene my eyes were already wet, but I was holding on my tears, but when her voice appeared with the ashes, I lost it. :'/ And I'm hard to be made to cry with movies and stuff. Very beautiful goodbye to a fictional character, although, I never saw a point of killing the character off. But well, that's how life works, isn't it? I cried. I love this character. I want her to be loved and appreciated more. I expected that one of the five women would say "honest" in memory of her, but none did, which is disappointing for me. They say what? "Beautiful", "sexy", "perceptive", "strong", and "one of a kind". You can actually cut "beautiful" or ''sexy" and leave room for "honesty." Edie is more kind than the four main characters. This episode and the previous one show how the four main characters just stand there being completely useless when Mrs. McCluskey, an old woman, changes the flat tire for them. this was already sad as it is, the whole edie narrating the end, but now everytime i see this i get even sadder because it reminds me of my boyfriend, the day this aired was the last time i saw him and we were together. :(
@Ilania the thing is, I think they did, in their own way. Edie in her own way changed the housewives. Her taking of Mike caused Susan to become closer to her and Mike to realize how much he loved her. Her taking of Carlos caused Gaby to realize how lost she was without him. Whether we like it or not, even if they gave her the appearance of a total bitch, she truly changed Wisteria Lane.
Edie had a son. When a person dies in an accident the police notify the family of that person first. Doesn't it seem odd that the neighbours were the ones to make the funeral arrangements while her son was never even contacted? He didn't even know his mother was dead until the Wisteria Lane girls showed up to hand over the ashes of his dead mother. Wouldn't he have been consulted on this? Why would it have been the responsibility of the neighbours to do this? This is the most unbelievable episode of the entire show.
Edie was married at the time of her death, so the police would have contacted her husband first. Nobody knew that she died because she was running away from him, so the police wouldn’t have thought that it was prudent to inform her son if her husband already knew and they would come to reason that he would inform his stepson of his mother’s passing.
Me after this episode: Guess I wont be finishing this series after all.
